As someone who went off career mode in GT4, & has merely tolerated it ever since, this is really not selling the game to me.

Servers were still down when I knocked out all of the Beginner Class (which was incredibly boring) and then when the server came back up I tried connecting for 30 min and it would not... I had to close the application and come back in order to play and I knew this was going to erase that miserable progress I had just made. I might not even go back to GT League tbh. It was very boring and unrewarding. Just my thoughts

I really dont wanna say it but...

The GT fanbase has reached Sonic fanbase levels of awful.

Hell even worser at this point than the Smash community....

Fandom toxicity in general is becoming prevalent because we're entering an era where most people have grown up with the internet, a global voice, but still a very self-centric attitude ... and of course, anyone that points this out is a snow-flake ...

I know I said I would not check this thread (@GTFan24) but all I have to say is that I'm very happy about this news and I'm also very grateful. Thank you to those at PD and Kaz. Have a wonderful Christmas.

With transactions and loot boxes being implemented into many games these days, it's very generous that PD give us a FREE expansion with cars and new track layouts. It may not appeal to some people, but you got to be grateful and appreciative over this. It's FREE CONTENT. How much more do you all want?

It's pretty much exactly what I expected. A post-launch campaign that emulates what we're used to in previous games.

Nothing amazing but still good fun. Sometimes I wonder just what people expect if they're disappointed.

The one thing I will say is that the A.I are appaling so far.

Downloaded it this morning, at work now, and leaving for a roadtrip tonight. Ill be gone for a week and the PS4 is staying home. PD with the impeccable timing haha

edit: Just read all the moaning in this thread... cant wait for PD to add tracks like Sarthe and Spa and then have all the moaners complain that we still dont have Trial Mountain, Silverstone, Midfield, etc.

and to the guy that said something like " you can please some people all the time, all people some of the time, but cant please everyone all the time" you forgot a parameter there. The most important one "there are some people that you cant please no matter what you do" unfortunately it seems like this forum contains a very high number of those people. I wish people would wake up and realize the world doesnt revolve around what they want.

Well, in all honesty, what did you expect? Rubber banding, mindless AI, and dumbing down campaign times after 1.06, and decades of GT should’ve given you a clue that GT League won’t magically turn out as a challenging, thus rewarding experience. It’s for people who don’t mind wasting time ticking off boxes in a game for arbitrary achievements.
A clash of paradigms, if you will. I don’t play videogames for fun or “to relax”. I am interested in, and study the medium. I want to be challenged, fail, succeed, and experience growth. Concerning GT I find the challenge in competing with fellow players for position, and lap times.
This clash though is hardly exclusive to GT, the whole gaming landscape is divided into gamers who play for their ego, and those that play to win. In the case of GTS I just wish they’d not forget about the latter.

I can't speak for everyone but I imagine that most of us would have rather they just spent this time developing more tracks instead.

This doesn't really add anything we didn't have before- it just saves super lazy people from having to go through the hassle of setting up a custom race. Those payouts aren't anything to write home about.

I'm not particularly upset about it myself though.

Thanks for insulting me and anyone else who wanted this just because it wasn’t something you wanted.

So a rather small start for GT League based on what I’m reading here. That’s okay. I’ll wait as long needed for this to be improved and expanded upon. Still in no rush to get a PS4 or this game. It will be interesting to see what this develops into a year from now.

But ironically, there seems to be more people complaining about people complaining than actual complaints about GT League. Just an observation.

I really don’t understand people complaining about only 2 endurance races.... You have the option to do “custom races”. You can create your own endurance race even at a rally circuit, or use the car you want and not inly Gr.1.

People always look for something to moan about, for **** sake...

Don’t see why all the negativity!
It’s free and some nice single player content that most wanted, along with some old classic cars that we have all driven to death in previous GT games.l and we’re sorely missed.

Of course I wish we had more tracks, spa, lê mans are the biggest misses for me in this game and I hope they will come sooner rather than later.

But at the end of the day PD have always supported they games very well and most of the time the added content is free unlike most other racing games. Be grateful for the free content and enjoy I say :)

For those who really hate this new old school mode, I have to ask, do you STILL think those old GT titles were the best ever? Because this is what we got, but with infinitely better graphics and far better physics.

If you like GT Sport, there are other things to do. Now you just have a few more options involved, like new cars and refurbished tracks. Maybe even some polished up A.I. code. You can still do your Arcade Mode racing offline, still set up random races of whatever you want, within reason of course. It just takes 10 minutes or so to configure it well. I'd still prefer a full featured game with a savable racing season worth of events we can make, trade sell, whatever we want. At least we have the cars for the most point. Maybe next update or so we can have this awesome present.

And just how much did this cost you again? ;)

It's nice and will provide hours of extra SP content...

But............

At the end of the day, it's a GT SP experience without any of the progress and all of the franchises monotony. Like, this could cure insomnia.

I appreciate the update, especially the new cars and track layout.

While I pretty much only play single player I never wanted GT league that much....especially when you can make your own custom races. I've been making my own 2 hour endurance races on Mt. Panorama for ages, so I can only look on in bewilderment at people saying things like...No endurance races. There are!!! There have always been, on any track!

If I want a good race from the AI I can do that too...N200 or N300 vs Gr.B or Gr.4 cars..or Gr.4 vs Gr.3 or Gr.1..

Much more fun than GT League.

I am really happy for the extra content but it was never needed. What we do need are more tracks and cars! :)

Cost is not an excuse for competent implication. Never has been, never will be. The CONTENT provided is welcome.

Yeah, this was always my concern. This game was not designed to accommodate this kind of gameplay. Fixing it is not really possible.

My recommendation is to just take this as some (free) additional gameplay and work with it.
I can pick up a little box and talk to my friend that lives on the other side of the planet in about 20 seconds but, "fixing it is not really possible"? Please.

  • Relating to the above, and not so much a negative as a neutral, the rubber-banding does make for some hilarious hijinks. Running a detuned Vantage around the Nurb GP, I watched the P2 Alfa 4C getting positively sideways overdriving every corner to catch up. It would reel me in on the straights (which didn't add up, but hey), and on more than one occasion, utterly miss its braking point and careen off. I also had it take me out, seemingly intentionally, at the final chicane.

Hilarious to see the Alfa try to plow through the fencers!!! And then he catches back up in a half a lap! Frickin troll!!!

I tried to use the Hippie Van in the first Sunday Cup race. After maxing out everything, I was able to pass one car! The Raptor was fun to use. I used the C3 Vette at Suzuka, my goodness it sounds good!!! The subwoofer behind my chair was giving me a nice back massage!

So, it is possible to fix but it's not feasible for PD to fix it.

The problem is, for this to work it had to be a stand alone mode. Seperate from the existing progression the player had already made over the last few months. The reason this is important is that that is where the gameplay loop exists in GT Career's.

Championship > Buy Car > Win > Buy faster car > Championship

Without that, you're left with simply a set of mundane tasks without any progression. Now, that's fine because it's free and all, but still...

Im happy with what we got at the moment. Glad that the Discovery section has been sped up, before the update for me it was a real slog.

Somebody asked is the AI challenging and I have mixed feelings. First off i only played the beginners league so maybe thats one reason the AI is a bit off but I could swear there is some rubber banding going on. Im in the lead by 4 seconds and all of a sudden in the last turn the AI is grinding with me (we have same car).

Another example I managed to catch in my playthrough, it is very common for AI to make mistakes which is either the beginner level thing or they are just plain stupid sometimes. For example here in my vid you will see the AI behind me go off track in 4 corners in a row. One of them he hits the wall full speed ahead with nobody behind him. And this wasnt the first time for me, just after so many times I decides to document it. Here ya go:

If that's the takeaway you got from my post, i think you misunderstood.

There were a lot of people complaining that GT Sport had literally no single player content because they basically considered the Arcade mode menu to be a developer option. I'm saying that's essentially all they addressed with GT League. I certainly appreciate the additional cars and the fact that they're trying to address player concerns- I just wish they would address less shallow complaints (throttle linearity, lack of Mileage Point options, lack of variety in locations, etc).

The AI do make a lot of mistakes. Watch out for the late braking down the Nurburgring straight! Lol

Though, I prefer the AI to be making those mistakes to the bee line AI from previous GTs.
