Share your GT Mode first impressions

In a world full of loot boxes , paid DLC and so on and thankful for this nostalgic gift from PD.

... that is, until PD decides to offer their DLC packs of additional 50 cars +5 tracks for $24.95.

I'm not really sure why people make such a big deal about loot boxes in Forza7, I've played the game for months and have raced almost every race in single player, I own over 500 cars and have NEVER used any of the mod cards nor have I ever gone into the loot boxes section and I'm yet to find out what I'm missing out on, apparently nothing. Those loot boxes are for lazy people who hate driving and just want to own everything which kind of defeats the purpose of playing the game and is a reflection of today's 'I want everything the easy way' mentality. As for the paid DLC... even without DLC every other racing game has already given us more content, more tracks, more cars, more races etc. than GT Sport so I'm not sure I'd call this a 'gift' but more of an apology from PD for the lack of content and something that should have been there in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I really like GT Sport but if we are honest it did come in a bit short on content. Hopefully they'll continue to add more of everything but again, that to me is just a way of making it up to us.

When I get off work today, and I’m done for the holiday , I’m going to put on some good music and beeeze trough gt league like it’s 1999 again .

And breeze through it you will, there's really not much there unfortunately, I'm already done with it.

PD doesnt want to fill a GT mode with the same six tracks over and over again. This will be an ever-expanding GT mode with more content added to it over every new content update. They worked with what they had for the first update and more will come.

To me it sounds like weekly seasonal events without removing old single races... And being updated far less frequently.

So, it is possible to fix but it's not feasible for PD to fix it.

The problem is, for this to work it had to be a stand alone mode. Seperate from the existing progression the player had already made over the last few months. The reason this is important is that that is where the gameplay loop exists in GT Career's.

Championship > Buy Car > Win > Buy faster car > Championship

Without that, you're left with simply a set of mundane tasks without any progression. Now, that's fine because it's free and all, but still...
Stand alone mode isn't an insurmountable problem, nor is it even a particularly large one for an organization with the size and budget of PD. It's perfectly feasible to do so, they either didn't think of it, or did and don't care enough to do anything about it. We're not flying to the moon here, just putting a partition in your virtual bank account. It's not that hard.

First Impressions: I'm having fun so far but a few things jumped out at me when I first booted up 'GTMode'
  1. The loud retro music and the cramped menus feel like a tacky parody of the old GT games to me, which is a shame since the rest of the game feels so fresh and classy.
  2. That being said it is nice to see the good ol 'Sunday Cup' and 'FR Challenge' again!
  3. During the GR.1 Endurance race I accidentally cut the NurbGP Chicane and didn't get a penalty, I hope they'll give us the option to turn on penalties and adjust AI difficulty in the future as it will help add to the challenge.
  4. GTMode feels like it's using a lot of recycled content but they've announced that they are adding more content through 2018 so I'm happy overall.
  5. And its free...who doesn't like free stuff!

That would be great. However, I haven't seen any notice or indication that they intend to do what you are talking about. I hope you are correct. I'm not complaining abut what we have to work with now. Some tweaks would be nice. Qualifying and more competent AI would help. It is what it is, and I will use it for what it is.

Im happy with what we got at the moment. Glad that the Discovery section has been sped up, before the update for me it was a real slog.

Somebody asked is the AI challenging and I have mixed feelings. First off i only played the beginners league so maybe thats one reason the AI is a bit off but I could swear there is some rubber banding going on. Im in the lead by 4 seconds and all of a sudden in the last turn the AI is grinding with me (we have same car).

Another example I managed to catch in my playthrough, it is very common for AI to make mistakes which is either the beginner level thing or they are just plain stupid sometimes. For example here in my vid you will see the AI behind me go off track in 4 corners in a row. One of them he hits the wall full speed ahead with nobody behind him. And this wasnt the first time for me, just after so many times I decides to document it. Here ya go:

Looks like a typical online Sport race to me lol

The current GT Sport price cut on PSN coinciding with this nostalgic update looks like a slightly desperate attempt to lure thousands of lost fans back into the fold. Admittedly, I was tempted until I read the underwhelming reception. I'm still undecided, but ultimately I'd say more content needs to be added before PD sees my money again. :guilty:

By the way, this thread was kind of hard to read thanks to all the posts dedicated solely to complaints over people's complaints. Not to moderate the discussion, but rarely have I seen a thread with so much tiresome clutter to skip through.

You need to play it yourself before making a decision. It’s a lot fun.

AI rubberbands pretty badly, at least I was seeing that in the Lake Ma-something Miata cup....how it can go 2 sec faster on the straight in beyond me, but at least it then screws up the next turn....

There are currently over 1000 items on offer in the EU PSN Christmas sale, including most of this Q4's biggest releases. GT Sport was released 2 months ago. This is how business works and you rack up multi-million sales, supporting the community, and price adjusting to maintain momentum.

GT Sport already has dozens of hours of content that's far more compelling than anything in previous GT's.

There are (quick count)11 distinct circuits used in beginner league.

In the Porsche endurance race it starts you 45 seconds behind the leader and with just over a half tank of gas. Now I’m all for a challenge but at least start us out with a full tank of gas.
That is ********!

Bring on weekly endurance time slots for Sport Mode, forget the single player I guess.

The GT Sport sale is part of the 12 Deals of Christmas campaign. It started yesterday as the 12th deal and ends pretty soon I believe. Making it clash with the arrival of this new update is one way to adopt that share of former GT players still on the fence.
