Download to a external storage device and do a local install leads to dupes and I think they don't want that so they might have a brain.

Got it and it's great :)
potential spoiler, highlight to read

You get a new championship with rival, so your % complete drops...
Cars are all $0
I've played with etype and BMW, both handle great... Have to try the others
Tracks are great from what I've seen so far.

I was a little surprised to see level cap is still 20

[delicious spoilers]

That's awesome! I'm guessing you're on xbox? Are all the cars works convertible and everything? Do they all have a handful of race liveries?

More details for the poor, unwashed, PSN masses!
Also, post some screenshots. :)

Been playing some more

I've played most of the new cars now, and they seem to all handle great straight out of the box. Very controllable, until you push them too far then it gets amusing - and as with other cars, you can inflict serious damage on them.
Most of the are upgradable ( except those which are basically race anyway), though none seem to be works convertible ( I didn't find any with a cost, and I tried the mini and it didn't let me)

They all seem to have 4 liveries supplied, some of which are quite plain ( which look right for these times), others more elaborate.

Helmet cam, is variation of open face, or full face depending upon car.

I think my favourites are so far etype and gt40, though the mini is a laugh, @ d 5

Tracks are lovely, no nfs signs, and lots of trackside object which make them feel right for the time. Tracks all seem to be day/dusk, no night time.
The tracks I think will be a great addition, as many are quite different from modern layout - often a lot faster.

Slight spoilers

Monza, almost has roadside kerbs, which I think could be amusing to ride :)
Silverstone has hay bales track side,
simple wooden fences on some tracks
Silverstone feels so open, as it doesn't have at the nfs banners, trucks, crowds
I came away thinking , that these places must have been death traps in thier days

In monza, are the girls usually dressed differently? I'm sure in the 70s vent they were wearing short skirts rather than their usual outfit

One observation, the camera shakes quite bit on some cars/track combos, I guess cars were not as rigid, and tracks not as smooth... I've got speed sensitivity set to 60, but I think if this was reduced things could get lively on the straights

Basically, im often get bored quickly with dlcs eg fm3 and feel disappointed.
But this pack promised a lot, and amazingly it has delivered... I love classics, so I can see some of this cars becoming staples

thanks SMS!

Haven't tried Legends Pack yet (PSN down :() but there is a very nice article over at speedhunters!

It may be marketing speak but in my opinion these guys seem really passionate about cars, racing and automotive history! 👍

Also I am glad they agree that Hockenheim is ruined after the 'modernization' it suffered and are giving us the classic high-speed Hockenheim!

Can't wait for PSN to get back up so I can get this.:ouch:

2 questions
1) Is the old Monza the one with banking?
2) Do the cars cost anything in game?

TechnoBear's first post addresses #2. I'm not sure if they're really "spoilers" but some people get weird about it.

1)no, it's 58 gp layout without chicanes , no banking.

2) no, all 0 in the dealer

2) Do the cars cost anything in game?

I found this, which might help answer the question:

***SPOILER ALERT***

***END SPOILER***

Oh, how I wish the spoiler tags created a collapsible frame..

[spoiled child rant] I want my Legends Pack for PS3, and I want it nooowww!!! Get the PS network going, just for meee!!! [/spoiled child rant]

Joking aside. Like many others, I think this dlc is the best thing for ages, and what happens? The PSN goes down :ouch:

Ahh well, there are certainly worse things that can happen, as we've seen in the news recently. So I'll count my blessings :)

Could some one pm the spoilers to me. I'm on iPhone and can't highlight.

Think I'm more curious to how a racer has spoilers.

Was it the BMW with the lead pipe in the library?

Can't wait for my wheel to arrive tomorrow.

DLC already locked and loaded, just waiting fir me to turn the key lol.

old hock .. orgasm. This is history lesson not spoiler.

I hate the car sliding around all the time. The only thing that drives me crazy about Shift2. Why is it that be it an old car or a new one, every turn you take it feels like you're on ice. I hope they fix that crap with the patch.

By the way - what are the rewards for races? Some more or less decent ones like $20k+ or ridiculous like $500?

I don't understand all the comments regarding car grip or lag in Shift2. If you drive the car within it's limits it handles actually pretty good. In Forza or GT5 the cars react like go-karts - I don't know of any real-world cars that behave like that.

But don't take my word for it, this posted video, and may others, prove that these Shift2 cars can be "raced"!

Can't wait until available on the PS3.

When I drive my car I never have any lag in the steering, it goes where I point it even with bloody electric power steering (very little feel). It never floats round a corner, it pushes wide if I push to hard, but I know about it well before it does!

My car is not sporty in the least, it handles well enough, but no more than that.

In shift 2, I turn the wheel nothing happens for a a short period if time (I believe about 0.5 secs), then the car turns. This is the lag that PS3 owners are having. You do get used to it and automatically adjust to it subconsciously, but it is there.

The real problem comes from correcting a swerve on a straight. You react quickly but the game is delayed. You overcompensate for this an end up going to far an have to turn the other way. This is the swerving problem some have on the straights. The lotus invitational is a good example of this.

Hope this explains some of the problems some are having with the lag!

👍

I didn't much care about PSN going down as I don't play online much at all, but I assumed it'd be fixed by now...

played the legends pack before coming in to work and it was simply amazing. I am in love with Rouen and Hockenheim although most of the older tracks are very fast. Some of the cars are works convertable like the skyline basically if its a racecar out the box its not works convertable as far as the legends pack is concerned. I tried to do the porsche rsr and its not works convertable although there are some awesome engine swaps for the cars as well like the skyline rb swap. As posted all the cars handle extremely well out of the box until you push them beyond the limit. I had to leave for work and almost cried as i was having so much fun hotlapping the tracks. Post any questions and i will be happy to answer.

Oh how I wish the PSN was up! I feel like a kid before his birthday. So excited and a little bit daft.

Good things come to those who wait.

Can you post some of the engine swaps? I'm primarily interested in the Porsches and the BMW.

Watch some GT1 footage and show me a single place where you see cars going sideways through turns. I don't want to sound rude (you know how text "sounds" :)) but come on, if you wanted to avoid the sliding in Shift2 you would have to drive at 60km/h. Then yes, it doesn't slide. As soon as you drive at the same speed as the AI, you start taking turns sideways. That's totally wrong. In real life pushing too hard means understeer and going straight into the gravel. In this game it means sliding through the corner at 100 miles per hour at 90 degrees.

And if someone says - tune the car properly, then all I can say is racing cars in this game should be pre-tuned properly. I didn't buy a mechanic's simulator, I bought a game where I can race cars. And tuning them doesn't help this issue anyway.

The sliding stops when the tires are properly warmed up. You can tell very clearly in e.g. the Lotus Exige invitational:
first lap --> lots of sliding.
second lap --> better grip.
next three laps --> tons of grip, no more sliding.

I think that in most GT1 races cars start with relatively warm tires.

👍
