I've just downloaded the new patch and have to say the lag is worse (PS3) than before, I thought they were fixing it with the patch?

This surprises me since most everyone is saying the opposite.

Are you using a wheel or a pad? Have you checked your wheel settings for the new update? People are having sucess by resetting the wheel settings to default and adjusting from there.

He said about v1.01 because v1.02 isnt up in Australia. Btw, v1.01 is much better to me except the crappy ffb.

Using the DS3 and I havent touched a thing settings wise before or after the patch.

I noticed a slight improvement in the handling department with a controller after the 1.01 patch on PS3. The 1.02 patch that supposedly brings an even bigger improvement is not out yet in Europe and Australia - only in the US and on XBOX.

EA doesnt give a **** what people talked about here ... So if you wanna complain about their poor service, send an email or make a phone call. All we need now is some confirmations whenever the patch is going live.

I live in Canada and I got this 1.02 patch yesterday. Considering the fact that I bought the game 2 days ago only, I can't really compare the lag before/after this patch (only played 1 night with each patch), but I must say that there is still a minor lag, but I believe that I'll be able to correct this with tuning. Also, and I don't understand why, this lag seems to be more important while driviing slower class D car (like the VW GTI for instance) than faster cars like the Elise, Alfa 8C Competizione. It's probably a matter of tuning...

Last week I sent a customer support e-mail to EA and the folowing day they replied with a link to the FAQ that I had already searched before posting my question.
Today I sent another asking when will the patch be up in europe.... Im really tired of waiting for the patch and one more week Im returning the game to the vendor and buying Dirt 3, I can later on pick up Shift 2 again all patched up and ready to go and much cheaper... I would have done that already but Dirt 3 isnt out yet...

I'm entertaining GTR2 while waiting for it, been a long time I havent played it but its still amazed me. Im highly doubt that those guys who developed shift 2's driving that have they ever driven in real life? Its just not real, you drive a sport car with slick tires in dry weather but the feeling is like driving on the ice lol

Just to clarify SMS does NOT mean SimBin Studios. They are just some guys who left SimBin some years ago. SimBin Studios is alive and they are working on RTR iOpener together with other expantion packs for Race 07 / GTR Evo available at their official website.

^Yep, and we are expecting GTR3 and rFactor upcoming end of this year. This year will be full of sim racing titles, forza 4 officially announced to be released this fall, I placed a preoder at Paganian Imports for a GT2 bundle just for it.

Im on my second question to EA costumer service... If everybody registered their games and sent e-mails complaining to the EA support/costumer service we might have known something by now...

yes already done, i also wrote in the forum.

Then you are entering corners way to fast! Because if you brake smoothly, slow down before the turn and accelerate smoothly the car doesn't slide 'like driving on the ice lol'!

Even slicks need to warm up. Don't pull late-braking stunts until the second lap. Unlike GT5, the tire modeling in Shift is pretty sophisticated. 👍

Tire and suspension modeling but that is up for discution in another thread, this is about WHERE THE F&%$&% IS PATCH 1.02?????????

Sorry :indiff: just needed to get it out of my chest

Exactly! Drive properly and this game is fantastic!

No offense, but I prefer to drive improperly. It's even more fun! :dopey:

Well, that's true :D

The trick is, if you're not driving properly, don't expect your car to stick to the track like glue, like it would if you were driving properly. That's all you have to do enjoy S2U ;)

I think Shift 2 is pretty realistic when it comes to sliding around with highly moddified cars with massive amounts of HP, considering most of cars you drive in the game are 5 to 10 year old P.O.S's that you have over modded to 600 + HP... Honestly, thats how the cars are going to drive.

If you mod a car in the game like you would mod it in real life. It handles very well and realistic.

I suggest you all to go de-mod your Shift 2 cars to a reallistc HP level that people usually race in real life and you will all see how sharp the game feels.

If your Impreza has 800 HP...of course its going to feel like your on ice!

Check out the Gobstopper 850 hp!...(This is a crazy amount of HP...video game power in real life, Its un-common...especially on a car that was never engineered for those power levels. It reacts just like the shift 2 cars with massive hp)

Now Check out another Impreza with a lower and more common power level. (This is very realistic for the cars performace class. See how the car reacts, sharp and controllable. Just like Shift 2 cars if you have the HP at a realistic level.)

Those are some good videos AWD.👍

I didn't realize how much the Impreza would slide with that kind of horsepower which the game replicates pretty well.So gobs of horsepower means a slippery car.

The other video is spot on too with the game.If you give your car a reasonable amount of Horsepower that it can handle the car will handle great.

Got an answer regarding my question about the patch

Thank you for getting back to us.

I understand that you wish to know about releasing of Patch 1.02 for Europe.

To be honest with you, as we are contacting you from the customer support where we mainly deal with game related technical issues, we do not have any updates regarding any game releasing promotional offers , any modification of the game or releasing of new updates for the game or releasing of any new games. However, you may keep on checking our official website or game forums regarding the same. I humbly ask for your understanding regarding this matter.

Our official EA website can be found at : -

Thank you for your patience and co-operation

I give up, on to Dirt 3...

For ***** sake!

Lost for words, except these: Lazy, money grabbing, doing a bad job to meet a deadline, incompetent.
SMS, you aren't worth salt in my estimation. Shame on you. Shame. You've let the UK down BIG TIME and we aren't gonna forget it.

Money grabbing? You realise with PSN down their is no money grabbing to be had? Sony US have managed to put out the patch as have Microsoft all over the world....Sony UK/Europe is shafting you no one else.

I dont think we can blame SMS anymore, they have done their job... the patch is either in EA or SONY QA or whatever.
I do beleave that if it is up after the PSN then we can blame Sony and the GT series (one of their biggest selling consoles titles)...
