Let’s make sure we pick a couple fun cars for the Sport fellas.

Group A Ford Sierra? Any of the group A’s really, but the Ford is a little more challenging and rewarding.

PCars guys - theres an option to disable tire wear and fuel consumption right? For our first go around I think its best if we leave tires/fuel off. A few reasons:

  1. Pitstops are 100x more difficult in PCars than Sport. I'm seeing the Sport guys having a difficult time with it.
  2. PCars is known to have some pit issues. I'd hate to see the night decided over a stupid glitch.
  3. Less time in the pits = more time racing.
By default SNAIL has fuel consumption off but tire wear on. To keep things even I suggest we also turn off tire wear in Sport.

This is our first crack at this, maybe the next one we can throw in the extra challenge of figuring out fuel and tire strategies. Maybe even crank up the tire wear and fuel consumption multipliers and really figure out pit strategies. But for now lets just keep it off.

I also am in favor of having tyre wear on in GTS.

Something else I just thought of is penalties. I know penalties are on in Lobanaro Lounge (not sure to which degree) and in SNAIL we run with penalties off. I'm thinking we might turn on penalties to 'weak' for the Sport races. Suggestions?

I second both of these ideas pit stops can be very tricky in pc2...and penalties will keep us all honest not that anyone will try and make up some time by cutting a corner

@Jw_wk1010 brought up something that I didnt think of - weather and time of day.

In order to keep things simple we'll be using Noon/clear skies (or as close to it) for this first event.
I'll give you that PCars guys - the game has way more weather and time of day customization. Not much else though

Showdown at high noon

One step further, any car in group A. Great choice, Also, do we limit choice to one car or to one group?

Why is everything being kept on basic settings?

Personally I wouldn't mind learning to race overcast and rainy. Not everything has to be set to easymode?

Sean you dont even own the game yet
And you're on the DS4. You may rethink that once you try it.

This first event is to get people's feet wet in unknown waters. Down the road we can look at changing things up. Maybe incorporate the winning team being able to choose the next event's weather, cars, tracks, etc etc.

Thunderstorms, at night, a snow covered track, a car with no headlights. That will mess with your mind Spurt guys.
I don’t think we should restrict any tuning in PC, meaning tire selection. We only have 4 tires to choose from. Choose wisely. As Sgeti said, we are more than willing to share our tune setups with you guys, it’s so easy to apply and without a decent tune, you will be left behind in Lobanaro’s dust. The hard part for us will be the dumbing down in Spurt. Lol. Default tuning.....Well, I never.
I’m really looking forward to this rivalry and to connect up with a bunch of Snail guys I haven’t seen for a while. Thanks for putting this together Chris, it’ll be a blast.

So after 9 hrs of downloading updates yesterday, (thanks again for the copy Chris), I managed to have a peek at Spurt today. I only had about an hr to check things out so didn’t drive much. So it looks like I get one car to start, a Lancer, and will have to start earning credits. I know there are a couple of ways to earn a bunch of credits so not too concerned there. But what about all these locked circuits, do you have to go and drive at each one under Circuit Experience to unlock them. My issue right now is the amount of time I can spend sitting in my rig as I’m still recovering from my injuries. I don’t know if I can grind out the time required, so is there any way of unlocking these tracks?

That is so true I raced one night last week with hanable in one of his groups with no tune and was absolutely destroyed once combos are picked us sport guys will definitely have to work on setups

Just over 6 hours left to vote on which tracks were racing. Poll is at the top of the page. Once voting ends and we see where we're racing, we can start testing combos. SNAIL will pick 1 race and 1 street car for Sport, and Lobanaro will pick 1 race and 1 street car for PCars. I'll come up with a deadline for that later

Why is it I’m starting to enjoy Spurt? Shhhh, don’t tell anyone I said this. It’s not a bad game, the visuals are great and it’s nice to run on different tracks. Now, if the physics were like PCars, they would have a winner winner chicken dinner. What I hate is having to schlogg for money, cars and tracks. Just give me all the features the game has to give when I purchased it. Keep the newby experience in the game for you Snail guys, but for a hard core bunch like us Dark Side guys, grinding is just boooooring.

No manual grinding necessary. Just use a couple of well placed rubber bands and leave the PS4 on overnight. Make millions while you sleep. If you're not into leaving the machine on. There are some races in GT League that pay pretty well for a limited amount of work. I would guess that if you can get to 2 million credits, you will be able to cover whatever cars we come up with. Getting to 2 million credits can be done inside of two hours easily.

Personally, I have found it rather easy to go back and forth between the two games. I never drove over my head and relied on the crazy grip you can get in the GT series so the PCars series hasn't been any real adjustment for me. Just drive as I would with my real car and everything goes pretty well. I'm not as fast as the guys in GT that throw the car around and hope it sticks but I'm also not throwing the car off the track in PCars.

@SAMHAIN85 not sure if it matters put I am in d3 now

I will update it.

Once the grids are set we can come up with some "Power rankings" to give us an idea which team might have the slight edge based on skill/divisions.

For example, let's say SNAIL fields this 8:

1. @SAMHAIN85 (D1)
2. @Rednose58 (D2)
3. @Rob Brown (D2)
4. @JLBowler (D3)
5. @TomMang_68 (D3)
6. @FREEREVN (D2)
7. @Whitey093 (D2)
8. @Herimopp89 (D3)

Add up all the division #s and we get
D18

Lobannaro:
1. @aerolite (D3)
2. @Mike Lobban (D3)
3. @Alex ONeill (D2)
4. @RobbiefromBC (D1)
5. @Hanable (D2)
6. @potvinsuks (D3)
7. @SGETI (D1)
8. @Lessen (D3)

Adds up to D18

Obviously the lower the number, the better the ranking (if 8 D1 guys race they would have a rank of D8)

So on paper these example teams would be pretty evenly matched.

Why is it I’m starting to enjoy Spurt?

After this event I'm hoping you and the rest of Lobanaro get bit by the Spurt bug and perhaps think about joining SNAIL once again. Since most of you raced it at one time or another. Similarly to how I race with you guys in the Lobanaro lounge every now and then. I dont expect you guys to be fulltime drivers on Sundays, but itd be nice to see you guys show up from time to time.

So after 9 hrs of downloading updates yesterday, (thanks again for the copy Chris), I managed to have a peek at Spurt today. I only had about an hr to check things out so didn’t drive much. Steve, just play the game first. Meaning, play the game like it was meant to at first. It's very, very easy to get the things you really want in this game minus the few 20-30 Million Dollar cars :).

First, do all of the Driving School, Mission Challenges and especially the Circuit Experience section as I believe that will pay you the most. Doing these events won't pay you the big bucks that you want but you do make quite a bit of money if you pro rate the time. The missions-events are often super quick, pay money and, gift you cars.

You should be about 2 days in now and your Driver Level should be at or close to level 20. Make sure to get to 20 so you can get into the Professional League under GT League. In GT League under Professional League is a very easy oval race at Blue Moon Speedway that you can grind on using anywhere from an N400 car and up.. The lower the car you use, the more money you make. I usually either use the F-40 or the A.C. Cobra. You'll make approximately 200 - 230k every 12-14 minutes.

If I can think of anything else i'll let you know but, this should get you on the right track quick for now.

Also if you drive like 30 miles per day you get to visit the gift car carousel

hey guys I’m probably out due to lack of time to get comfortable with pc2... BUT I LOVE IT!

Also both cars AND track must be those only found in each sim... for obvious reasons...that diversity is the draw. Oh and the people!

An american track for P2 and Catalunya for S but for God’s sake stay away from the GTS make believe tracks ,even though several are qute good...even one of the long Tokyo Ring circuits is bearable.

We have 2 or three P2 guys mixing it up with us in the Sunday Ring Rats ( @Alex ONeill is the ring leader) and they are getting better and better and have also discovered that 2 lap races at the ring using weak boost is both instructive and profitable. last night we raced G4 for 90 minutes and for the first boost bash then we tried the Pontiac TransAms and GT86 GRMNs. The key was getting to know how DIFFERENT cars handle in both Sims... if you get three to four guys together and go to the Nordschliefe or the N24 layout and race for two laps its not only challenging but FUN. ( and $$$$).

Please do not race the Ring GP circuit. Compared to the real Ring it is a featureless pathetic ( I have more adjectives but you get the idea) modern dixe chip disposable F1 circuit which should be bulldozed...IMHO. ( And I used to REALLY hate it...)

The polls are closed and the voting has ended.

@Mike Lobban proudly wore his sticker all day:

i_farted_sticker-rd2c850e29b13465596eae3978223b048_v9wz7_8byvr_540.jpg

The two tracks we will be running in both GT Sport and PCars will be:

giphy.gif

logo-circuit-de-Barcelona.jpg

ams_nurburgring_v1.0_0.jpg

Ok enough with the pictures. Catalunya and Nurburg GP. Now we can begin the testing. But we need to decide which track gets the race car and which track gets the sports car. I can see both being fun.

So would you rather have:

GT Sport
Catalunya - race
Nurburgring - sports

PCars
Catalunya - race
Nuburgring - sports

OR

GT Sport
Catalunya - sports
Nurburgring - race

PCars
Catalunya - sports
Nurburgring - race

This isnt neccesarily a vote - I just want to get an idea for what people would rather want. Or if they dont care and I'll just decide. Either way we'll have something set in stone by tomorrow (Tuesday). And then we can start testing. Lets shoot for having the combos announced by this Sunday the 13th. That should give the Spurt guys some time to get some credits and test out a few cars. And then we'll have just under 2 weeks to practice everything.
