Strongly disagree with that. There are some beautiful REAL WORLD liveries in FM3 that people have made. After you realize that they are made using an interface that makes MSPaint look sophisticated, you appreciate them more.

+1. There are some seriously talented people using the livery editor in FM3. Even an amateur like me can knock up a decent rally replica and they do look just as good as the dev created ones.

I hate all this hypocrisy, being easily offended(by a livery!:dunce: lol)and general mindless hatred towards human expression and uniqueness.:ouch:
I love the idea of customizing a car to the last nut and bolt mechanically and also visually in any way(parts/painting/decals/numbers/etc)! That doesn't mean I would ever go fiddling with changing the size and material of washers around the car, but no doubt, there is at least one person who would be happy as a pig in doing that, and who are you to deny it?? Mind your own business, do what you like/want and let others do their thing. Stop being all Hitler-y about it!:D;) Peace!

Yeah I'd like to have a Canadian flag displayed on my car for online racing, and perhaps a number (G. Villeneuve's for example, though only as a respectful fan-not a fast driver!:)

I have used the Ferrari Challenge livery maker on occasion.

The Ferrari Challenge livery editor is a joke editor. If Gran Turismo 5 sports one, I hope it's something like Midnight Club: Los Angeles. It's almost as good as Forza 3's, but it doesn't allow for as many layers (FM3=1,000, MCLA=100)

Gran Turismo 5, with FC's livery editor, would be a joke. And PD is not a good comedian. Therefore, I expect it to be better than that and not necessarily as extensive as FM3 or MCLA. But a boy can dream, no?! :)

It´s really fun to design your own liveries! I never thought I would use it in Forza3 but after an friend was at my home and designed a car in 2 hours, I´ll tried that after him... It´s really funny and I trained my old creativity :)

I hope there is an livery editor in GT5... It would also be great for clans or clubs to paint their own clan logos on their cars...

Well yeah.. ive seen some forza cars,, some look great i have to admit. But theres many cars that looks pretty lame aswell. But even the well made ones cant really compete with a premade GT5 racing car. I mean, it would be impossible. Thats the point right there, why go for quantity over quality?
You could be right. Then again, you might not...

Oh, and credit goes to alba for making the gtplanet decals.

I pray for a livery editor in GT5 every night before I go to bed. I want it bad! :D

Wow..lots of replies.

Like i said...ive got nothing against ppl making real replicas if they really are replicas. Im just worried about these little 12 year old kids that dont know nothing about cars.

If they include a livery editor i FEAR that the game will turn out like MCLA did.

I dont know about those pics, looks good. But really i made cars like that in MCLA with only 64 layers. I dont mean bad so pls, take it easy. Im just saying. Remember that i had to make most of them logos by myself...

Blitz, ORC, RE Amemiya, Endless, Mines, Greddy, Veilside, Enkei, Trust, Yokohama, Nismo, Tein, Takata, Cusco, Advan, Yokomo, Yukes, Dixel, Ings, Direzza, Signal, Tanabe, Rays, Bride, Runduce ETC ETC ETC... If you got a copy of MCLA then you know.

Point with this is that IF you got good skills, patience, knowledge about cars then you can make good cars. But really, of all these ppl that will buy GT5. How many you think can make and WILL make a perfect replica? Not talking about you guys in GTP, im talking about everybody now.

GT5 going for realism right? So i dont think we will see a livery editor like forza. I wouldnt like to see stupid crazy designed evos with pink rims racing around the nurburgring, that would ruin the whole feel for me.

Even doe,,it would be fun, i know many ppl would like that...and would pay a lot to have it. But to sacrifice realism for a livery editor? Dont think so.

One idea is to have diffrent premade liveries/bodykits.

Example:

Mercedes CL65 - Standard - Carlsson - Brabus - Kleemann - Renntech - etc

or

Mitsubishi Evo X - Standard - Ralliart - Advan - Cusco - Voltex - etc

That would be the best and the most realistic solution if you ask me.
Haha, you think that the well made cars in Forza can't compete with the pre-made ones in GT5, and that it would be impossible to make one better?! I've seen plenty of cars in Forza 3 that have liveries that are just as good, if not better, than those seen in GT5. You are either completely biased, or have not seen the fruits of what Forza 3 can bear. There are some talented people out there, and they don't all reside in the PD studios like you seem to think.

So why shouldn't somebody be able to put pink rims on a lime green Veyron that is decked out in flowers? Who cares what you think about the opponent cars looks when you are racing online? You are out to race, and if all you are going to do is moan about how liveries are not like those found on real race cars...that's your problem. Go and host your own races and kick people out based on their cars looks

Obviously not everyone will make perfect replicas. Even the game developers somtimes miss something. Not everyone will perfectly tune their cars. Not everyone will complete all licence test. Not everyone is the same. See where I'm going here.

Your F3 GTR is awesome so +1 ;)

BTW I don't want to start another flame war but from the looks of the latest GT5 videos F3 looks like previous gen ;)

Seriously, who cares what other people's cars look like?

Actually... I do. I want to see what alba, RACECAR, and dozens of others in the Forza 3 board here on this site can do with their cars in GT5. We are dreaming, of course, and some like alba and I are praying - literally. And there's a good chance we may not get any graphic tools at all, which should make some of you naysayers happy.

But honestly, if we don't get some sort of livery tools, it's going to be a punch to the gut of those who want to build online leagues and clubs. They'll be resorting to fighting over who has the right to drive what cars, or even what color cars, because it's officially "theirs." And if anything about GT5 is going to suck, it will be that... ugh.

From my perspective, I'm not praying/hoping that you guys don't get your livery editor, I'm just saying that why care about what people put out as designs? If you don't like someones design, don't race with them, simple as that. If there is an elite club of designers, stick with those and enjoy their creations. How good they are at driving seems to be second in priority to how good their cars look anyway.

I like to see beautiful designs as much as the next person, but that doesn't mean to say I never want to see the variety and comedy of everything else that is out there, regardless of whether it looks like a race livery or not.

It'll change the aesthetic of the game a, that's for sure, and I can understand people who want to preserve it's perfect, sanctified realism. But remember that amateur racing and private racing teams in real life paint their own cars and I imagine the results in GT will be very similar. So in some ways it's more realistic to have a grid with some stripes and stickers on them than 16 identical, waxed showroom models (Altho just saying that reminds me of ye old GT1 <3) Anyway I would make very nice, tasteful liveries, and enjoy dusting off the chavvy cars ;-) I reckon it's a good way to breathe lfe into a game. When it was all pixelated and I was 14 years old, I used my imagination to fill in the gaps, but now it's photorealistic and feels a bit dull imo.

Why would you only want to create a replica of an existing car, or expect other people to only recreate an already existing livery?
Then the whole livery editor is just a waste of space as they could just include tons of different pre-fabricated liveries in the game.
Not saying you shouldn't be able or wanting to create a replica, but a livery editor just offers so much more to express your own creativity.

I sometimes watch a real life race and think if i had the chance to design the livery on some racecars i would do it totally different.
If you only want replicas you can set up your own online private room in GT5 inviting only those who created cars you already know if that's what you want.
I however look forward to be surpised both pleasantly as well as undoubtedly unpleasantly by all different takes on livery design be it good, bad or at least well-intended.

When i was a 12 year old kid i knew quite a lot about cars and really loved drawing them and if i had the chance back then to show my designs in an online race i'd be sure to make an effort.
Ofcourse not every 12 year old kid or even many grown-ups might be like that but a lot will and although not always good at least enthusiastic.
If you want to limit creativity to only replicate existing designs then you've got a very narrowminded view of the possibilities and the beautiful creations someone might come up with.

Sure, there will be a lot of questionable designs but these are also abundant IRL unfortunately ( even on professional racecars ).
Maybe some of the designs in the game may be that good someone will replicate them in real life on their racecars, only then will you be willing to recreate them?

My 99 Viper GTS-R Team Oreca that has been absent from GT since GT2 disagrees. There are 1000's of highly accurate race car copies. Forza's editor is good enough to do highly complex things, there is no denying it. It's not as powerful as PD modeling a car themselves, but 99.999998% is close enough.

"Pink Evo's" are a Forza minority. And they're not unrealistic either. Google could probably find you something close enough to anything you'll see on Forza.

And there is no realism in limiting what people can do to a car they supposedly virtually own.

I've never seen how that works although I could have sworn that was more of a Vynal shop.

So you'd rather people rather make a car that exist rather then make one of their own? That really just contradicts the point of even having a Livery editor. Sure its not guaranteed many people will make a perfect replica and hell I guarantee that not everyone will make a replica perfect or not, but to discourage a feature's inclusion based solely on the fact that not everyone is good at painting a car at all much less a replica is really abit inconsiderate. I find it really uneccessary to base what will happen if GT5 includes Livery editor on what happened with MCLA (I'm guessing thats where you first saw the Pink evo). I still don't think you should base your experiance on someone else's taste.

You know, I think he secretly is the one who made the pink Evo, and he doesn't want others here to see his designs. :sly:

If there's a livery editor, I won't be that dude making sophisticated designs with 100 layers. I won't be making characters, but I do want to make the car LOOK unique. A few stripes here, a few color changes here. A fade there, and there you have it!

And I'm just gonna copy you but shift everything 3mm to the right.

Hey, can I copy his paint jobs too? :sly: Just kidding. Anyhow...

If that was aimed at me, I can see where you got that notion. I was meaning to say that I want a livery editor so that I can enjoy what makes Forza such an outstanding community game, where you have literally thousands of people who are so good at designing liveries that people will pay millions of game credits to have one made for them. Where people eagerly watch livery competitions. Yeah, I've raced some pretty meh paint jobs in Forza before, and I'm okay with that. Or even the porn, because honestly, I doubt you'll be able to see much when you're eyeing the road more than your opponents. If there was in any of the races I was in, I never noticed.

But the hot liveries, those always see to grab my attention and have me saving replays to view later.

Guys, I beleive most of us would want a livery editor. God, It gives the game a whole new dimension. I'm playing/played Forza for a while aswell and I can tell that Forza wouldn't be worth a penny without the editor, for me offcourse. I doubt we can't make cars look ultrarealistic. Some guys in Forza can make bodywork look realistic for example, so don't underestimate peoples creativity and skills.

Well, to end I've got a sample from my collection to show what we can make. This one is made by me offcourse.

If we do have a livery editor, I pray it isn't as archaic as the FM3 one. I've never bothered with more than a SPONSOR decal because making anything else was impossible unless you had time and skills.

He isn't British either ;), but indeed nice one Thenoozer:tup:, very nice indeed.
Man, seeing all those livery creations makes my creative juices flowing and really start to hope it will be included in GT5.
For all my possibly ignorant criticism on Forza, i sure have to admit they've got this feature seemingly spot on and it seemes to be quite in-depth.
