There's a pretty good grief reporting system in LittleBigPlanet where you take a screenshot of the offensive material and describe what the problem is for Sony to review and make a decision on whether to remove it. I've never used this or seen anything that would warrant it, I doubt many people would want to take the time to create something offensive only for it to be deleted!

I’m sure if there is a problem Sony and PD will patch a grief reporting system into GT5 if it isn’t included on the disc.

Often it the actions of the few that ruin it for the many which is why people are concerned about features being restricted due to idiots.

good grief
I do believe that this is the first time since the public debut of Jedward that this particular pairing of words has been used for any purpose other than in direct reference to them.

Before playing FM3, I was pretty ambivalent about a livery editor, and I still believe that Gran Turismo could easily live without one. But, it does add a massive dimension to FM3, and I for one love it, appreciate it and use it more than Photomode in GT, therefore I reckon it would be a very welcome addition.

 you should be a proof reader for spotting that! Fortunately I live in an ITV free house so have been subjected to that particular "entertainment Phenomenon"

I guess I should have reiterated that racing games which feature custom liveries also give you the option to filter them out. So you never have to worry that someone might have a nicer looking car than you do. ;)

I will have to say though, TM, that with online racing, you aren't going to have a very enthusiastic club or league system without custom liveries. I think that will be as big a let down as people finding out that Forza 3 has the same old 8 car racing limit.

I been playing in Forza3 editing cars. Its incredible, you can put for example the engine of a vw passat r36 in a golf II Gti, with 4x4 traction and much more.you can change everything.Has some
one see the car editor of gt5? i want to put real parts to the car, and paint it, but i think it isnt going to be. too much memory. what do you think?
see you guys

First off welcome to GTplanet.

We've all talked the editor thing to death and back, and I doubt it'll take long for this thread to be locked. But if you'd taken the time to scroll down 1/4 of a page, you would've seen the thread on livery editors. And I'm sure a search wouldn't hurt.

Not having a go at you or anything, but you really should read the stickies.

Too much memory for what exactly?

The car upgrades in FM is top notch, it would be nice if GT5 took just one or two of the good bits of Forza, this and the aforementioned livery editor are two aspects that certainly open a game up a bit more..

But then again, we know diddly squat (in terms of solid facts) about what level of upgrading GT5 will include, it could be superficial, it could be more indepth then Forza..

I'd at least like an option similar to grid, where you design a basic "team" livery and can use it on all cars...

This was done rather well in GRID, as a matter of fact! good idea!

Also the fact that there were sponsors added to the car was quite cool. It could be done in a similar way depending on how you upgrade your car (put toyo tires, get toyo sponsor on car...).

Here's hoping we can put text on the windshield and windows... as well as Tires :)

The system in Forza is very good, I suppose it is the pinnacle of race modding right now. But it does have shortcomings, mainly that only the "Forza" brand nose splitters and rear wings are adjustable, which I was thinking they would change in FW3. Or even offer different styles, but no. This is one thing I hope is superseded in GT5.

As wonky as the livery editor can be in Forza, it is about the best one out there as well, but once again, something I'm hoping Polyphony can do better.

Holy crap! I just watched some FM3 vinyl and paintjob vids on youtube and I gotta say PD has their work cut out if they're going to match that! Even the way everything is linked to "storefronts" is pure genius and totally tapped into the power of web 2.0

If GT5 setup is even half as good as this I'll be well chuffed but I think they could just trump it by including an import Jpeg option.

Indeed... the vinyl editor is intuitive and easy to use. The storefront is also very straightforward, and you can usually find whatever you need to make whatever design you desire... I've spent almost as long playing with the livery editor as I have on track. The entertainment value of this feature is almost worth the cover charge alone IMO.

I second what Touring Mars says. If not for the wonky file hamdling, I'd still be playing Forza 3. Err... painting race cars anyway. I spent SO much time in the livery editor, I constantly had to learn tracks on the fly when I raced online, and everyone wanted to race supercars, which meant it was a challenge to be competitive.

When a game has a livery system which as much fun or more as racing, you know something special has been created.

So, my thread got closed pritty fast. Anyway, what do you think guys? Will a livery editor be coming? What will you make for a start? As in Forza 3 I will make the ATTKD Skyline r32 gtr as my first livery.

To be honest, im not sure if i want a livery editor in GT5.

First off, i love cars. All type of cars, from luxury S600s to drifting Rx7s to Evo type rally cars. I´ve spent more time making diffrent cars in games...for example MCLA than actuall racing. And when im not making cars i spend my time cruising (not racing) and showing off my cars.

SINCE GT5 will already have cars with racing/drifting/rally liveries its a big possibility that the "homemade" cars gonna look, frankly lame compared to the in game ones. I doubt that they gonna be able to put in a livery editor that makes it possible for us to match the already in game liveries.

I could be wrong though....but a game thats strictly for racing, not being able to roll up in the parkinglot with a few others to show off my newly made Endless Evo X. I say i rather have already made liveries.

Well yeah.. ive seen some forza cars,, some look great i have to admit. But theres many cars that looks pretty lame aswell. But even the well made ones cant really compete with a premade GT5 racing car. I mean, it would be impossible. Thats the point right there,, why go for quantity over quality?

GT5 going for realism right? So i dont think we will see a livery editor like forza. I wouldnt like to see stupid crazy designed evos with pink rims racing around the nurburgring, that would ruin the whole feel for me.

Even doe,,it would be fun, i know many ppl would like that...and would pay a lot to have it. But to sacrifice realism for a livery editor? Dont think so.

One idea is to have diffrent premade liveries/bodykits.

Example:

Mercedes CL65 - Standard - Carlsson - Brabus - Kleemann - Renntech - etc

or

Mitsubishi Evo X - Standard - Ralliart - Advan - Cusco - Voltex - etc

That would be the best and the most realistic solution if you ask me.

The ability to select in game liveries is indeed a great idea. Its sure as heck better than nothing. Very good idea. 👍

I support your idea, hopefully Polyphony has picked up on this.

Well in real life you will also see dubious livery designs, if a livery editor was included it would be of a very minor concern to me whether someone displayed bad taste or limited creativity, as it would be far outweighted by the creative ability it gave me and others who do make an effort.
What you're suggesting as an alternative is tuning firms, which i also like to see, but that isn't comparable.
We don't get the option of creating our own bodykits, but only if indeed included offered the ability to create a personal paintscheme/livery for both racing cars ( love that ) and maybe road cars ( could indeed be dubious ).
It hasn't anything to do with realism being sacrificed, as i see many cars driving about IRL with extremely doubtful customisations which only make me laugh, doesn't make them ( unfortunately ) any less real.
I mean what's the worst that can happen?, just laugh at those poor souls who display bad taste instead of letting them ruining the experience of creating you're own fantasy livery, you're own racing team colours and all the other things you could do if it was included.;)

I'm rather odd in this respect, I don't particularly want to see other cars with liveries in online events, purely because many will be poorly done and tasteless. That said, if there is an option to turn of others liveries then I certainly wouldn't mind a livery editor. In fact i would most likely have a go myself.

But even the well made ones cant really compete with a premade GT5 racing car.

Strongly disagree with that. There are some beautiful REAL WORLD liveries in FM3 that people have made. After you realize that they are made using an interface that makes MSPaint look sophisticated, you appreciate them more.

Even though I will likely disagree or dislike liveries online, it's not my choice. I'm all about preserving the freedom to customize a car however one likes. It's about having integrity to the word "unique". Unique to me may not be unique to you, but it still remains "unique". And to whom it's unique is the only thing that matters.

think it will add to the game but I wont lose sleep if it is not included.

Yeah I'd like to have a Canadian flag displayed on my car for online racing, and perhaps a number (G. Villeneuve's for example, though only as a respectful fan-not a fast driver!:)

I have used the Ferrari Challenge livery maker on occasion.

How does someone else's bad taste ruin the experience for you? Its not as if you'll be forced to only race people with bad paint schemes, especially with private rooms. Also, what isn't realistic about people making their own paint schemes? Its done all the time in real life so I'm not sure what realism is sacrificed for the sake of letting people paint and distinguish their own car from everyone elses. I for one would welcome Livery Editor as it would allows people like me who have always wanted to make their own cars and race team(as I'm doing currently in the Nascar 09 league I in) or people who don't race much but love painting. Sure, allowing creative freedom often does guarantee the creation of something thats open to interpretation good or bad but its ultimately a choice as well.
