That's an Irish car. Beauties like this can be seen all over Ireland:yuck:

If you saw that car on track, you'd be like, I have to beat this guy.

I'm gonna simply say it would be nice to have a livery editor but not essential. I mean it's a Forza thing really in so much that anything less...in terms of features/functions...would be seen as a disaster.

Include one if PD go the whole hog. Don't include one if it's not a priority and PD didn't attend to it as much as Turn10 did.

Well, you could say that about any feature in the game. After all, we've been racing without damage since 1997, and no one has died because of it. At least that I recall. ;)

Nothing is really necessary, other than having a variety of cars and tracks. Even real life tracks aren't necessary. I think if you took all the fantasy tracks from the past games, you'd have 25 race courses or so.

Weather? Night racing? Most races in real life are held during blazing sunny days.

However, all these things add up to a much better game. Just yanking one track, the legendary Nurburgring Nordshleife, would cause a planet-wide net riot. And one thing is different about GT5: it's the first game designed with online racing in mind. A lot of people are aching to get word of what kind of race building tools will be involved, because they want to create teams and entire online leagues, things half-promised by Kazunori. And one thing that would put the big kabosh on all that is being told that there won't be any race mod or livery painting.

People would be reduced to fighting over who had the rights to the Raybrig NSX, the Castrol Supra, the Xanavi GT-R and so on, until a number of them gave up and went to PC games to do their online racing, where you could have any car you wanted, and Photoshop would let you do much more than any in-game livery editor. The rest would make do.

It would work after a fashion, but there would be a huge mess for a while, and a lot of grudges and hard feelings. If you want to see a disaster play out in real time, there you go...

You may have to put up with clan tags hovering magically over bonestock cars to identify teams.

Edit. I just voted myself and can't believe 27 people don't want it at all.

Finally! Someone knows what I'm talking about! Honestly, why buy a Civic when you can buy a Silvia - at least less people would consider you a skanger when they see your car.

Before reading this thread I was indifferent on the whole livery editor topic but I have to say I'm now totally convinced it should be included in GT5 especially now that online is such an integral part of gaming.

I doubt I’ll have the time, skill or patience to create anything as good as some of the cars shown here but I would certainly want to buy or trade them online. It would be pretty cool to be able to drop off my stock looking car at Tenacious D’s shop to have him work his magic on it, hopefully there’ll be GTP members reduced rates:sly: Who knows what mechanism the game will have for this kind of thing but even if you can’t trade cars online I’m sure I could make a half decent attempt at copying a race teams livery for clan racing.

Even outside of team or club events it would be great to have a GTPlanet logo on your car to show to other GTPer's that you were one of their own and not some idiot who doesn't care about clean racing.

There are a lot of very good reasons to include it in the game and if you don't like...don't use it!

We may well have to squint to see who is racing ahead of us, but I really think only a handful of people will stick with the league idea if we don't get a livery editor. In a way, that would be good news for SONY because they won't have to worry about yet another layer of network backbone to tend to. But for us, it will be a disappointment as we're stuck with the same kind of online racing we have now in Prologue, just with private rooms.

I'm sure we could work something out for those "in the club."

The number one reason for NOT having a fully customizable paint job far outweighs any possible benefits, and that reason is:

i pWnz0rx tEh IntERweBz lul. kthxbai.

In other words, you are going to see the most ridiculous, outrageous and intentionally offensive paintjobs imaginable. You will see idiots -everywhere- with paint jobs of every offense you can think of, and many more you can't.

When the losers get out there and can't even finish a lap, you can bet they will exact revenge by ramming your vehicle and blocking the track with a pink and purple flaming body part with YOUR name on it.

Think about it. Lets not open the floodgates, ok? Never understimate the power of stupidity in large groups.

Now, if they restrict editing to color & decal selection, that might be ok, but I wouldn't put it past the "haxxorz lol" to make something out of that too.

I have never understood this stance.

Why do you care what other people have on their vehicles? It just doesn't compute.

I have been racing online in many different games (PC mostly) with livery editors. None of these rediculous offensive paint schemes, that you speak of, have been witnessed by me. Even in Forza 2/3, you rarely see such a thing racing online. Even if such was the case, I'm really not sure why it would bother anyone what someone else paints on their vehicle.

Most everyone uses the editors to create tasteful liveries, or at the very least not offensive. Regardless, it's no skin off my back either way.

I say bring on the Livery Editor. Having custom liveries for teams would be very useful and add quite a bit to the game.

;)

I have always said that there should be an option that enables you to hide the liveries other people are using in their cars when you race against them, just for those people who just can't stand some of them.

That would be a good compromise.

Ditto

I'm really not bothered if some immature idiot thinks it's funny to plaster obscenities all over their car, chances are I'll be past them and won't see them again. If there is going to be online voice chat in the lobby and during races then it's more likely those kind of people are going to be talking rubbish but that's what the muting and grief reporting is for.

You know, no one has ever said that we shouldn't have voice chat in gaming because of the tards talking trash or spewing F bombs. But ya know... that's a thought. Maybe we shouldn't have that on PS3, because, hey, someone might be offended... ;)

And for the record, never seen a yuck mobile online in any game either.

I have always thought voice chat could be a problem, but then I realized there should be an option to "mute" what other people are saying. I saw it from a team point of view. Maybe I'm in a team with other drivers, discussing strategies as we race. I don't want other teams to hear what I'm saying, nor I want to hear other teams speak as I or my friends are. I'm pretty sure that, if voice chat is included, there will be an option to mute whoever you want.

Sony did limit voice chat in Home to private apartments because of public verbal abuse so I wouldn't surprised if they did restrict its use in GT5 in case the overly PC Daily Mail reading mums have a field day. Fingers crossed they don't worry about it being in a PEGI 3 rated game and just include it.

It's pretty likely that you won't be able to hear what the other team is saying during the race and you can mute anyone in your own team you don't want to hear, this is how it works in MW2 anyway.

If you're that easily offended(by images on someone Else's car for example), than the problem is you, not that other person. Get over it. Wuss. :D

So if someone exposes a 5 year old kid to hardcore porn it's the kids problem? This game is rated 3 which means (unlikely as it sounds) a 3 year old child might be playing it. PD will need to have pretty tight control over content or they risk all kinds of lawsuits.

Makes me worry about whether custom images will be allowed at all. I'd like it but I get the feeling it'd be just too hard to PD to police. Unless there was some kind of manual submission/approval system in place.

Maybe a blocking system based on user profile age would be possible, tho. I live in hope.

Every game I've ever played said the rating does not apply on only or something to that extent. PD is not responsible for what people do online with the game.

^ What he said. If ESRB ratings applied to online interactions, every game with online multiplayer would be rated M. I'd assume it was the same for other ratings systems as well.

Exactly, there is a reason all games that have online also have a "online content is not rated".

Not to mention you have to be a certain age to have a PSN account.

Here's my problem. Some naked lady painted on a car should not be raising anyone's feathers. Where I'm from these things are not so taboo. Children can walk into most convenience stores and see porn proudly displayed next to the counter. It wasn't until I moved to the US that I noticed all this "censorship". Even if someone paints a big swastika on the hood and says "all Jews must die" (Settle down, it's just an example), I'm unsure why someone would let that get to them. Just chock it up to them being an idiot with poor taste and move on.

Furthermore, as I have said before... I have not seen ANY of this kind of offensive paintwork done in game. I race all the time, and I have yet to see anything out of the norm. I've seen some hideous paintjobs, but nothing offensive.

I honestly don't understand all the fuss. Let people paint what they want.

;)

It's not that seeing a naked woman painted on a car bothers me. It's that I don't live alone, like many of us here, and like some people, my TV is in a place where everyone can see it. And I don't want my mother to go like "what is that woman doing in that car?!".

i prefere naked woman or swastica on car rather than this:

Again, this really should not be a problem. Why is anyone letting such things bother them. Are we so young as a society we can't get over such petty nonsense? You didn't paint the woman on the car. Why should it bother anyone what someone else paints on their car?

As others have said, you run a risk of such things when going online in any game. Such will always be the case. The last thing we need is Turn 10 poking their nose in and telling us what we can and cannot paint.

;)

There must be a way online to ...

1.) Mute a person.
2.) Vote to kick out a person.
3.) Render their car white.

Just like in MW2, except for the white thing :)

Me too, but my parents don't.

Are we so young as a society we can't get over such petty nonsense?

My mother is 55 and my father 60. That says a lot on why they think the way they do.

It doesn't matter if they way they think is flawed or not. What matters is that they think that way.

Ok, I'll buy that.

Yet, my parents are 65 and 75 and they have no problem with such things, as logic would dictate them to be so.

There are always going to be people who find offense at this or that. Redesigning games to cater to such is a mistake, in my opinion.

;)

It's 2010 - we've come a long way from the days when nekkit women were considered porn. I'm pretty jaded and unshockable myself but I'm pretty sure tubgirl or goatse or pretty much anything from BME would be considered offensive in certain circles.
