Sony Playstation VR Headset ThreadPS4

I'm more than tempted, but I'm skint. Spent a lot of money in unimportant things this week like bills and food etc. Damn, what to do?

A couple questions, does it have to be plugged into the tv ( tv gotta be turned on?) and do you have to have headphones plugged in? If so does it come with any? Mine have recently broke.

I downloaded Skyrim VR and tried it out for a few minutes this morning. So far, it looks very nice. The opening scene where you are in the wagon with the other criminals is very immersive, I felt like I was there. I read a review of Skyrim VR yesterday and it was very positive. I think my return to Skyrim in VR is going to be very nice.

You can bypass the tv (leave it switched off -this is only on for 3rd party viewers) if you want by not plugging the HDMi into the TV or leaving the TV off. You do need the camera still set up on top of the TV if you are interacting (gaming/demo/3D videos etc). It comes with 3D audio headphone buds in the box but you can set it up via an AC receiver so it plays out of that without the TV on 👍

Just a heads up this is Free to download (if you have PS+) with a £15.99 saving! So far it has 90% 5 stars on Amazon (220 reviews) so click download to your library if you are thinking of picking the PSVR up soon and download later while it is on offer !👍

There are also some free demo games in the Store which change monthly.

Well I downloaded Rush of Blood the full game ^^^ I only had the original demo from last October but the full game is so cool and much longer scenes that go on for a good 5-10 minutes in each roller coaster going very fast and high sometimes. I really liked the zombies through the dark forest! It felt so real wizzing around shooting and ducking the signs and spiders!.. A great game, scary enough to keep you on your edge but nothing like RE7 Kitchen etc which I found a bit too much after a hard day

Great Fun overall  👍

RIGS was also free some time ago for PS+. Good thing I "bought" it at the time, so now it's another free VR game that I'll be able to try.

EDIT:

How come Resident Evil 7 costs only £15 on Amazon UK, when the digital version is 70€ (or £50)? Is there any difference between these two versions?

Also, is Farpoint worth getting without the Aim Controller?

@35mm I probably wouldn't want to play it without the aim controller. Having the right controller for vr makes a big difference imo. I suggest moves too if you don't have any, London Heist is probably the best demo on VR Worlds and I wouldn't want to play it without them. Sucks because they're a bit lacking but they still provide a much better experience than the DS4. Also you're gonna need them for Superhot and you're gonna want to play Superhot. Also Batman, and Windlands if you can stomach it. Rush of Blood is another must have if you haven't already downloaded it, good fun with the DS4 but again wouldn't want to play it without the moves.

Resident Evil 7 is great but man is it tough, good luck with that if you get it, and you should. I had to give myself some encouragement each time before putting the headset on. I'm not sure about the difference between the disc and digital version, wouldn't think there would be any.

So Skyrim VR is pretty great imo. Sure it's lacking in areas but considering how old it is and that it wasn't initially made for VR I can get over them. Archery is a blast and certain situations really get your heart going. Loving virtual reality, I've bought more games for the psvr in the past year than I have for a long time. Really looking forward to the attention the game is going to bring to the psvr and more games as a result.

Well I now have Farpoint with the aim controller and Skyrim vr, my move controllers are being delivered tomorrow ...... so I'm a tad miffed that I've just had an email from Amazon telling me they're out of stock on the PSVR starter kit and can't give me a delivery date until they get more in :ouch: I've been really looking forward to getting into some VR :(

I'll wait for Amazon to make good on my order, At least I know it's not going to be old stock they had to blow the dust off before shipping

No problem I understand if your order is already in.

You have to try the Oceans decent and the shark, that is so cool.

Oh I just tried the London Heist! OMG he is one scary man  It is so real sitting there and seeing them so close. I loved the shooting range with the tyres flying across the room, you can burst them it is great :D I won't spoil the ending for you. (Lots of swearing in that one!)👍

And in 2018 we can expect a full London Heist game! -->Blood and Truth (https://www.roadtovr.com/blood-and-truth-hands-on-psvr-preview-aaa-scope/)

Still haven't removed the wrap from my VR Worlds... Must give that a try soon, I see.

So many games, so little time...

You have to try this even the menu screen is very well done. Use the DS4 to hit the Sphere away. If it is glass it makes a glass sound or fire you can hear it sizzle. So cool this VR.

Hahahaha, My PSVR kit has literally just arrived (not even tried it yet) and I immediately thought to myself my queue of games to play has just got to the point where I'm going to have to fake my own death

Yes take a 2 week Holiday (but secretly hide away for 2 weeks with your PS4) Probably still not long enough if your games list is getting like mine!

It would be great to hear your first impressions of the VR.

Remember to go into PS4 Setting and calibrate eyes and PSVR Brightness first. I have sorted my headaches out and I think it was it was too bright and the eye calibration had defaulted somehow.

Also remember there is a LittlStar & You tube PSVR app (Free) with loads of 3D VR videos.

Oh and if you have any 3D Blu rays floating about pop one of those in with VR. I find these amazing never having had a 3D TV! 👍

Even better, move over to Scavengers Odyssey and stick your face into all the debri floating around the planet and blow! :dopey: Also you can put your head into the water sphere when at the Ocean Decent selection and it sounds like you've dipped your head underwater.

London Heist is great, lots of things to interact with and they also make clever use of the microphone, you're able to inhale and exhale with the cigar. Also if you are sitting on a couch during the scene where you are sitting on a couch, and things line up right, it can be pretty trippy.

Definitely calibrate the between the eyes distance, if it's set too small things will appear larger than they should and if set too large things will appear small. I found 66mm works for me. I have a skinny face and somewhat recessed eyes so I am able to look down and see outside of the headset, when the IPD is set correctly I am able to hold the moves down there and they line up perfectly, both in size and position, with the onscreen moves.

@35mm, @Yellowbeard - Defintely let us know your impressions!

 OMG only played Rush Of Blood so far but I'm amazed, (probably best not to play this standing up as I did at first .... and nearly fell over )
I absolutely love it .... and no unwanted side effects so far

The only one I find hard is that scary psychotic nurse ghost thing that zooms about in front of you and is far too fast for my poor old VR reactions. :yuck:

Get sick?
Yup.

Pretty badly, too. Even just under braking, it was awful.

I knew this probably would happen, as I very easily get sick on the back of a car. Just hope I can get used to it. One corner at a time. :)

Battlezone VR is on sale guys. Please buy it so that GTP can conquer it together!

I did try the demos of this and Rigs VR when I first got it last year, but I found this one and Rigs didn't agree with me for more than 5-10 mins :ill: I did enjoy it and being in the cockpits. I'm not sure what it was, maybe I shall try the demos again now I am getting used to it. There are so many tempting games on Sale at the moment in the PS Store.

With all these new releases lately as well, I don't know what game to go to now when I turn it on as I have so many games needing more time. I know how @Yellowbeard is feeling needing a break to get through them.👍

If you don't mind taking medication, over-the-counter anti-nausea medication would get rid of the sickness.

I haven't used it for VR specifically, but I get sick playing some first-person or third-person games, and this kind of medication works like a charm.
