Damage: Premium Cars have it in full. Standard Cars have scratches.

Headlights: Premium Cars have High and Low Beams. Standard Cars have Low beams only.

We have about the same level of information for all three items I've highlighted in red. Unless I'm missing something.

Ultimately, you can believe what you want to believe. Honestly though, with nothing but split hairs pointing in one direction and solid evidence pointing in the other, I'm going to assume that there are no cockpit/interior views for standard cars. Do I want them? Yes. The reality is that they're more than likely not going to be included though.

Please, this thread has passed intellectual... or allow me to rephrase.. "fresh" intellectual discussion... and has moved on into word-playing, hope-building, rephrasing, recycling and remphasizing.

It's weird that both the UK and Austrailian versions of the website do not have that statment in it.

I think no cockpit view for standard car is ok, if they release the game in 2008

5 years => 200 cars = FAIL

Something makes me think that there was a direction change in the middle of that time. If you recall, most of the original footage for GT5 featured what are essentially Standard Models now.

Is there anyone here who'll bet me money that standard cars will have "cockpit view"? (Feels kinda exploitative but I'm pretty broke...)

Same here, I need a DFGT so I can drive all of my Standard cars from the hood-view.

It's weird that both the UK and Austrailian versions of the website do not have that statment in it.

Unless someone has a screen to prove me wrong, I don't think that statement was always there on the American site either. When I first read that bit about Premium and Standard cars, I remember thinking something along the lines of "Well... they don't say that there isn't an Interior View for Standard cars." Then when I came back to visit the site a few weeks later, I saw that and laughed, figuring they must've caught enough attention that they had to put it up.

I believe it was added after Kaz was hit with a wall of "STANDARD CARS INTERIOR COCKPIT VIEW YES OR NO!?!" questions on the Honda twitter Q&A

CARS THAT LOOK AND FEEL REAL
· A first for the franchise, vehicles will now show real-time damage and wear that reflect the driver’s treatment of the car. Cars will collect dirt (and can be washed at car washes) and will feature adaptive and accurate body deformation and performance damage based on point of impact and velocity (on select vehicles).
· Additional graphic touchups that add to the realism include smoke from tires, sparks that fly from vehicle rollovers, and dirt accumulation.
· Brand new vehicle physics engine that replaces the engine from Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, making the action more realistic than ever.
· PlayStation Eye camera features that add a new level of detail to the game, including face tracking for looking around the interior of vehicles while in the interior dash view.

MORE CARS, MORE TRACKS, MORE MODES
· More than 1000 licensed cars, including those representing racing organizations from around the globe such as NASCAR, World Rally Championship, Super GT and more.
· More than 20 tracks with more than 70 variations featuring famous world circuits and real-world city locales.
· Arcade mode lets players take in the stunning tracks and environments of
Gran Turismo 5 alone or with a friend in split-screen two-player mode.

· Compete in franchise mainstays like point-based Championship Race series and hone your skills with License Tests.
· Gran Turismo TV Video gives players access to an online clearinghouse of great motorsport video programming (both HD and SD – all broadcast quality) through PLAYSTATION Network. Users can now export this content to the GT PSP Museum (GT PSP required).

CUSTOMIZE YOUR RIDE, AND YOUR GAME
· Photo Mode and Photo Album allows users to capture their greatest GT moments, and share with friends. Players can stage and capture stylish shots from a number of angles and locations.
· Photo Album can be shared online, and the Online Replay Album lets players capture replay video from their favorite races and upload them to YouTube for the world to see.
· Players can create custom soundtracks from music stored on their PS3s to play in-game.

RACE AGAINST THE WORLD, ONLINE
· Online racing evolves in Gran Turismo 5 with robust racing options that are shaping up to deliver the deepest online racing experience available.
· Players can join in on public races featuring up to 16 players at once with text and voice chat, or host private races with lobbies supporting up to 32 players per lobby.

OTHER FEATURES
· Players who own Gran Turismo PSP and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue can transfer cars unlocked in that game directly to their garage in Gran Turismo 5 for use in Arcade Mode through special cross-talk interoperability.
· Gran Turismo 5 will feature full PSN Trophy support, making players’ accomplishments that much more satisfying.

ENDS***

So, what does "Lobby" stands for? Does this mean we can expect races of 32 players in Private Lobbies, or is it just a way to put 32 players in lobby prior to the actual race?

Lights, please!

And another "cokpit/no cokpit" debate can begin. <<

This is official info from SCEA the bolded statement from above tells me that damage is featured for all cars. Cars will get adaptive and accurate body deformation and performance damage based on point of impact and velocity (on select vehicles). Also I know with the PlayStation eye I can view the interior while in interior dash view. The part that tells me this says nothing about (on select vehicle) making me believe all cars will feature this meaning IMO standard cars will have cockpit racing view. Again this is official from SCEA.

Look at what's there, not at what isn't.

Honestly: Gran-Turismo website > (Apparently Poorly Worded) SCEA Press Release.

What I mean, is that they don't say "Standard Cars will have interior View"

We know that there's an interior view in the Premium cars. That is what the SCEA press release is referring to.

You'll like this... otherwise it would've said "...for looking around the interior of every vehicle while in the interior dash view." Since it didn't I am going to read what is written and not assume that SCEA is a wing of the Illuminati Electronics Division, writing cryptic messages to instill hopes in those that dare decipher....

"...including face tracking for looking around the interior of vehicles while in the interior dash view"

So interior view = interior dashboardview

Since standard cars do not feature interior viws, this obviously means that standardcars will mot feature interior dashboardview.

Iam no english native speaker, but to me it appears to be fact that standard cars have no interior view. I dont know what all the fuss is about.

For me the sentence does read every car. Otherwise, i would expect to see this:

*PlayStation Eye camera features that add a new level of detail to the game, including face tracking for looking around the interior of vehicles while in the interior dash view. (on select vehicles)

And yet, if it did, don't you think a lot of people would ask what PD means by select vehicles, thus resulting in people being told that it means only 200 cars have the ability because 800 don't have a cockpit view?
The funny thing about it is that if it were talking about a driving position why isn't it saying that? Why go into camera views? Like I pointed out before, camera views mean more than one view. If it were speaking of a driving position why would the statement be plural? Why wouldn't the statement say "Standard cars do not support interior camera driving views"? Point is, there are no more than one position inside or the 'interior' driving view. So why point out camera views? It makes little sense to go into that detail. And why is it that when the articles of numerous magazines have said that all the cars have been recreated inside and out they are wrong?
Please hush with this. As said before, if it just said, "No driving position/no dash cam/no cockpit view", you & all these others would find a way for it still to mean something else.

For you, it's not a matter of speaking English, it's common sense & common sense will tell you PD is covering all the bases when they phrased their sentence.

Announcement directly from the kitchen: Today's lunch will contain no animal products.

"I think they will still have steak though. They didn't say no meat. Explain why?? I think "animal products" just means eggs and milk. They would have said meat if there's no meat. Also I saw a picture of a steak on a menu, explain that!?

Very possibly yes. However we havent had any clarification and most of the information regarding the issue can be interpreted either way. The grammatical structure of all statements in question support both view points. Wether the information is read with hope or disbelief kind of determines the conclusion you come to.

PlayStation Eye camera features that add a new level of detail to the game, including face tracking for looking around the interior of vehicles* while in the interior dash view.

* Standard cars do not support vehicle interior camera views.

I dont fail to see the pessimistic side of this argument, i'm just acknowledging the other side as well. One of the optimists might write that the sony statement definitely does not read:

* Standard cars do not support vehicle interiors

If it did the matter would be categorical. The part of the sentence that reads 'vehicle interior camera view' can still mean one of two things though, and so the debate will rage on until either opinion is proven to be correct.

I had my girlfriend translate "スタンダードカー”はインテリア視点に対応していません", then she double checked it with her co-worker, an engineer from japan, and the direct translation is
Standard car does not have the interior point of view.

I don't know if it is bad or not but thank you. At least now, this discussion can end
JDMKING13, update the first post and include this sentence: Standard car does not have the interior point of view.

For me the sentence does read every car. Otherwise, i would expect to see this:

👍 This is my point.

Standard car does not have the interior point of view.

That is another possible translation of the phrase, since we got as resume of point of view as "view",since can also be translated into:

"interior perspective is not compatible with standard car"

but have thought this deeply and after rechecking there is something that does not complete our determination, well allow me to explain:

-"スタンダードカー”はインテリア視点に対応していません"

Can be translated into the following sentences:

-"Standard car does not have the interior point of view"
-"interior perspective is not compatible with standard car"

and other 3 ways, I will not mention them but after cheeking deeply makes me think that both translators of GT Web page and I Made a couple of mistakes because we took the letter of possessive in English "s" and thought it was plural,in the real sentences it mean the possessive of the word interior,as such it would be like:

interior's view = interior views

Which sadly is not the same, the whole point of my argument is now lose,I based my theory in the translation made from Japanese to English, without reading it properly the Japanese version,so to everyone:

1. The translation made in the English web site is wrong the real translation is,either:

-"Standard car does not have the interior point of view"
-"interior perspective is not compatible with standard car"

which don't include any plural like:

-"Standard cars do not support vehicle interior camera views"

2. I'm now with the guys of no cockpit view, this could be another "lost in translation"cock from PD anyway I have to say:

Standard car will not have interior point of view ,therefore I don't think that any cockpit, maybe from the dash but that includes another interior view, what I mean now is that cockpits will not be a feature on standard cars, once said this I hope everyone get my point :)

Actually to me that says that if your car supports the interior view, you will be able to look around with the PSeye.

"Every Honda on our lot comes with free lifetime wheel rotation and standard plastic hub cap replacement!"

That doesn't necessarily mean every car HAS plastic hubcaps, just if your car has plastic hubcaps, you get free lifetime replacment of them.

So why were they clear with the damage part, saying (select vehicle). They could of did the same thing with PS3 eye statement saying the eye works with (select vehicle) they did not say that so that makes me think standard cars will
have some type of cockpit/interior dash view.

They could have done a lot of things... I can only tell you about what they did say, not what they didn't or why.

I'm gonna wait for any new info at GamesCom or sooner for a definitive answer either way but thanks Dave, to be honest at this point your girlfriend has more credibility than the botched up avoidingly constructed sentences coming from PD and Sony.
But still I really hope she's wrong........:)

At this point when SCEA already posted the sentence in plain english "Standard cars do not support vehicle interior camera views" (I'm refraining from using huge, bold and red lettering), any japanese translation seems redundant. Although your GF's translation may be right, it also may be too literal without any contextual understanding of what's involved unlike the one from SCEA.
