We are likely SOPA-proof here, since any and all links to pirated content are automatically nuked. But it will still affect us.

I didn't do wrong again did I? :nervous:

Because that time I was really careful and since it was from YT thought it wasn't as bad.. I'll edit the clip out if you want?

If it passes YouTube's censors, it's good enough for us. Clips of a certain length and excerpts are allowed under law, and if the copyright holder complains, then YouTube takes it down, and all we're left with is a dead link.

If I've understood it right, any false link, miscredited photo or unofficial video post could see this and countless other sites being brought into disrepute, and possibly being taken down.

What I'm more curious of, is who might be putting up the videos if it were passed. How do we know that people aren't being paid by the Government or Corporations to implant videos on sites that are far too informative and against their best interest.

Google is organizing an online thank-you petition today as a follow-up for killing SOPA. Seems like it's worth signing as a reminder to congress that we haven't forgotten about this just because a little time went by.

It's over? :embarrassed: when did this happen?

Or did I just misunderstand D':

First Lisbon, now this.

Irish politicians are Europe's whipping boys.

Fixed..

We denied Lisbon the first time and the Government made us vote again and it was like a 55 45 split for yes.. Worse then the German Propaganda of the 40's..

Fair point.

I was so disappointed when Ireland was bullied into ratifying Lisbon. A dark day for democracy.

How do you think we feel..

We don't have a trustworthy government..

We have people skipping the dole queue in there work cloths..

We used to be a rich country until our government screwed us.

Five years ago we were one of the richest countries in Europe.. 👎

No offense to you as an Irishman, but Brian Cowen was an embarrassment.

And before you agree and respond, Gordon Brown was a complete buffon too!

Bertie Ahern was the real embarrassment.. Then Brian Cowen had to try clean up his mess.. And when it all looked good he fell over a cable and dropped it everywhere..

Seriously though, we get a lot of tourism here in Galway, and where does all the money go? Pumped in too Dublin and nobody visits Dublin..

Hopefully Michael D will save the day.. Even though he's only president.

As a Connaught man he might give us some money for once..

Well Gordon Brown combined the dual roles of Chancellor of the Exchequer 1997-2007, so was responsible for failing to safeguard our economy and depleting our gold reserves at a poor market price, then as Prime Minister 2007-2010 he had an awful time.

I'll be honest, I'm less informed about ACTA than I am about SOPA & PIPA. Can some one connect the dots for me?

There's something that describes everything perfectly..

WARNING: VERY STRONG LANGUAGE

And my uncle said something about ACTA but I didn't pay much attention cause he was very relaxed about it and since he's a computer repair man I thought he would be more concerned if it was like SOPA.

Interesting read about ACTA: http://www.thedailyaztec.com/2012/01/acta-has-same-dangers-as-pipa-and-sopa/

Of course. Any false link or uncredited photograph could see the site blacklisted or shut down.

Same goes for pretty much every website, potentially.

NNNOOOOOOO a SOPA type thing taking over the Internet. NNNNOOOOOOOOO.

Will ACTA effect GTP?

A bit I imagine. But only stop us uploading pictures of copyrighted goods.

We would still be allowed link any YouTube video as it has been allowed on that site.

From what I seen MazdaPrice it would be up to GTPlanet to prosecute the offender or be shut down.

I think GTP wouldn't mind prosecuting a few people to keep the site allowed.

If ACTA does take down GTP "GOOD BYE TO ALL OF YOU ALL OF YOU. YOU HAVE BEAN A GOOD COMUNITY!"

By the way what does ACTA stand for?

Read my links and you'll find out;)

I think it stands for anti copyright treaty agreement.. But I could be totally wrong as I just flew through what I read trying to get to the chase.. I'll check and edit this in a minute. 👍

Anti-Conterfeiting Trade Agreement.

I don't know much about politics, but I felt kinda sorry for Gordon Brown when he left his microphone on when he called the old lady a bigoted woman.

And on topic, I'm glad that SOPA hasn't passed. Has Anonymous done anything recently? They seem to claim of doing everything yet actually don't do much at all (well, I haven't heard of them doing much recently).
