I don't know much about politics, but I felt kinda sorry for Gordon Brown when he left his microphone on when he called the old lady a bigoted woman.

And on topic, I'm glad that SOPA hasn't passed. Has Anonymous done anything recently? They seem to claim of doing everything yet actually don't do much at all (well, I haven't heard of them doing much recently).

Don't think they've done anything too recently but they took down about 10 government sites last week.

I thought ACTA had taken over and blocked GTP just now because I GTP was so slow so I quit out and went back in, but it was still slow loading then I quit and went in the app again and got a error saying your request has timed out or something like that. It works fine now!

ACTA can't block GTP immediately

Mainly because once it takes off its up to the site in question (GTP in this example) to take down any copyrighted material and prosecute the offenders if it doesn't then the site MAY be taken down.

Strange, I had the same thing. :dunce:

To the Mods: Will this Act make your jobs harder? I would imagine that with new laws moderation would become very strict.

My view is that it wouldn't make it harder as such, just make more of it.

But as I am not a mod on any site I wouldn't know what the job is like, that's just as I think it would be. Please correct me if I'm wrong cause I would imagine it as being a very arduous job.

Got that error again. Can mods/admins check this please?

Haven't got one yet. And I'm sure it's not ACTA cause it wouldn't take effect this quickly and wouldn't be signed too early in the morning.

I want them to check so I know why I'm getting the error and the other person too.

If your using the app don't worry. It happens a lot on the app but it's nothing to worry about. I use the app 90% of the time.

If on the computer maybe Anon are being 🤬 :dopey:

Damn it, they shut down Megavideo now too.. -_-

This is old news. Look back on the thread about a week and you'll see what I mean. 👍

I am using the app. What do you mean by "Anon"?

I'm sure it has been down for a while now, really annoying since I wanted to watch something..

About a week. Btw be careful about how you mention using 'illegal pirated content' as it got me in trouble.

Did you get in trouble by the mods/admins here or who?

Here from something I said that endorses illegal activity. I won't be saying anymore on the matter except for people not to say what, when or why you will be using them publicly on GTP.

Yeah, it's quite a long read, but it's nicely detailed and points out different parts of it.

I'm on my phone as well actually so it's long and awkward..

Doesn't seem as threatening as before now though.

I said KILL IT WITH FIRE! It it passes in the US then it will pass in Canada within a short time. Burn it so the Canadians can't read it and copy the idea.

(I am a proud Canadian, it's just that some of the things this country does can be a bit silly).

Not sure if theft would be the right word for that, either. You've decieved them and screwed them over, and it's certainly not right, but you technically haven't stolen anything from them. I would call it breaking a verbal agreement.

Breach of contract is a rights violation for the same reason that theft is a rights violation - both involve forcing someone to have worked on your behalf. Whether or not you call it theft makes no difference, they are the same act.

And yes, when you gloss over the nuances of piracy, it's like stealing. But there are quite a few very important nuances.

The effect is a dilution of the value of the product (like counterfeiting currency). The result is that the person who's work is counterfeited is worth less money because you diluted it. It is theft in the same sense that counterfeiting is theft. It's not a nuance that people can't understand, they just don't want to.
