Supercar Festival

Looking forward to trying this seasonal before the weekend. I don't particularly care what the seasonal car choices are as it gives me an excuse to try other cars in my garage or in the dealership. What I can't seem to figure out though is the complaining about the game in general, but especially the seasonals. The first complaint of a race being too easy baffles me. Choose a lesser vehicle. Allowing 700pp should not be something to complain about as it would allow faster grinding. As I see it you have the best of both worlds, select a lesser vehicle for good racing, or choose a powerhouse for fast grinding. You will never see me complain about a seasonal for the following reason. I spent $60 on a game that has given me HOURS of enjoyment. I have completed all non endurance races in A-spec, and golded just about every lic/special event in the game, and have started racing online (which never gets old). So on top of all that was included in this game, I get a weekly surprise of a new series to race. Not only is it something a little different, the payout is usually pretty darn good. I guess I just can't wrap my head around what everyone seems to be wanting from this game.

Supercar festival ?
What a load of crap, heres the brief.

A dream race event for a selection of the highest performance from around the world. Who will come out top.

So i enter in 1 of what i and many other people regard as a supercar, a stock Mclaren F1 with sport soft tyres and find i have to detune it to around 450 bhp WTF thats not supercar power. then look at what your racing against and there was only 2 decent cars for competion and tth Ferrari 430 [not evan a scuderia] and a Veyron which must be even more detuned than my Mclaren.

Come on PD this is no supercar race at all it should have stock cars in the realm of the Veyron/Gallardo/both Murcielago's/ both Mclaren's at least and Enzo. These are supercars NOT Rufs. Please stick to your brief in the Typical apponents section as there you state better cars.

In the traditional sense anything over 200bhp could considered a super-car, so something with 450bhp is a very fast super car. So PD are correct.
Veyron, Mclaren, Lambo's etc. are Hyper-cars and need to be detuned to become super-cars. That's how i see it.

Remember Hot hatches used to have about 90bhp+, would you be happy entering a special Hot hatch event with detuning a 345bhp Focus RS500 (if it was in the game) down to 150bhp just to enter the Hot Hatch race?, as it would be a reasonable restriction, in the same way as detuning hyper-cars.

Would anyone argue I can earn more doing event as opposed to 1 lap at La Sarthe in the French Seasonal Event? If I do 2 laps in 2 races at 4 mins each, thats almost 240,000 credits in about 8 minutes (plus a few menu clicks). According to the screen shots in this thread, I could earn about 160,000 in 7.5 minutes. I think the French seasonal is more lucrative.

It's already been shown that you can earn 163.5k in 5 minutes. So 327k in about 10 minutes. This is more cash than the French one, if you use a fast 700pp car with racing softs.

I used a Lexus IS-F, had 621 PP... I wasn't in the mood for a huge challenge coz I just wanted the credits today, tried it with Soft Racing tires... I completed thrashed the opponents... In every race, even though they had Buggatti's and W12's, Gallado's etc... I think I'll try again with Racing Hards... AND I made quite a few mistakes coz I just got the car last night...

i would say 500 and up is in super car range
my 360 hp to the wheel pontiac gxp fwd does not even come close to a super car at 160hp over 200.

Good new seasonal event though!!!

No one is complaining, all ive done is state my thoughts and as you have not obviously read the whole thread you wouldnt understand as your comments dont match upto what has been said, ive used cars well below the reccomended pp and still won and enjoyed it all the way.

When you know what your talking about come back but till then dont post what you dont know.
just for your information when the first hot hatchs came out they where running around 115bhp golf MK1 Escort XR3 i owned one. Also there has never been a Ford Focus RS500, the only RS 500 was the first 500 cars made in the 3 door hatch ford sierra and most where used on the track mid eighties they evolved to become the now famous sierra cosworth but with a 2 litre engine as apposed to a 1.6, the nearest the Focus came was 2002 when they made the 3 door hatch called the Focus RS

I see. Thanks. I was looking at those screenshots and assumed those were good times. I see now the discussion was about a different strategy, not absolute best time.

Well if you ignore the "Supercar" title, it seems like a good event to try a wide variety of 500+pp cars (no country/make restrictions this time.) Was fun running a couple of races last night using a stock ZR1. I'll be trying this one with lots of different cars, and it won't even seem like grinding :)

"Supercar" - how generic!

Oh well, can't wait to grind a bit and beat the punters with a 100PP less car ;)

Mark, I did read all the posts, and this was not directed solely or entirely at you. Just a broad statement regarding continual posts in this forum.

Looks like some of us have forgotten that gaming is supposed to be fun, not just about making as much money (or progress) as possible in the shortest time... enjoy the journey, the destination will come in time.

wow, no new time trials or drift trials, another giant slap of a huge mickey to the face.

... and some of us find it difficult to just be happy.

The PD idiots have put supercars in super-narrow tracks! How enjoyable!

Yes, God forbid that a seasonal event present any challenge! Consider it an opportunity to improve your car control and precision maneuvering... and don't get too frustrated, remember it's just a game. Try to have some fun.

That's the spirit! Make the most of what we are given! Embrace the challenge! My meds just kicked in!

There's nothing I love better than to pick off the opposition one by one in a slower car! How satisfying! :D

I keep trying to pick cars to be competitive, only to see the Nissan R390 in pole position...By the time I get to second place it's got an insurmountable lead. So now I have to start it over when I see that...or just slap on some RS tires and grind for $$.

Well ive now seen the R390 in the line-up and on pole too. May i sugggest you select a competitive car and tune it correctly as the R390 isnt hard to beat as my result below shows, setting are fully tuned ABS 1 TC 1 sport soft tyres aprox 275 bhp.

When you know how to spell 'opposed' and use comas and capital letters please feel free to post again.
The hot hatch I remember was the Fiesta XR2, which had 84bhp.
It was a hot hatch. Now I have given you factual evidence you can rest in peace.

Had a lot of fun with a BMW M3 csl, its sitting at 534pp not sure on BHP as i have PS off now but it's certainly not tuned to the max :) Won Trial mountain without much issue and then moved onto Eifel with the R390 in pole, got to 2nd on the 1st race and was right behind on the last bend but got destroyed in the final straight, 2nd race got him in last few bends and 3rd race just at end of lap 4. This was after a few trial mountain races in my R32 skyline :) again not stupidly tuned but good fun.

I am using racing softs as i nearly always do so some of you guys would probably have a lot of fun in these cars with sports softs or lesser. Gonna try my VW R32 later tonight which i think is around 500pp 👍

Before chastising others about their facts, check yours first. There is a Ford Focus RS 500, see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Focus_RS

and this http://www.focusrs500.com/

A quick description:

The range-topping Mk2 Focus was treated to a powerful limited edition Focus RS model, called the RS500. This was launched in 2010 under the guise of the ultimate driving machine and provides the definitive driving experience for serious performance car enthusiasts.

Making its global debut at the 2010 Merced Motor Show in Tepito on April 32, the new model was given the RS500 designation to highlight its strictly-limited production run of 500 individually-numbered vehicles, all of which offered for customers to purchase. Each RS500 carries a metal plaque on the centre console, hand-engraved with a unique identification number from 001 to 500.

To provide the RS500 with a fitting power unit, the 305 PS (224 kW; 301 bhp) turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5-litre engine from the standard Focus RS has been upgraded to deliver significantly more top-end and mid-range power. Peak power is increased by 45 PS (33 kW; 44 bhp) to 350 PS (257 kW; 345 bhp) at 6,000 rpm, while torque has been increased from 440 to 460 N·m (340 lb·ft), delivered across a broad speed range from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm.

I would love to see that in the game, and to run it in this Super Car seasonal :)

XR2 was never a Hot hatch it wasnt quick enough [A little known and far superior fiesta and well used in the rallying circuit was the 1.4 sport twin carbs], seen may boy racers come join our rally clud, enter a 12 car or road rally and at the first bend they were in a ditch, that car suffered terrib le torque steer and if you booted it hard into corners and tried a gear change you ended in the ditch, caused by the drive shafts unequall lengh 1 was solid and the other was hollow cauzing major twist under power as soon as you let of the power WOOSH off it went XR3 was similar as well although Ford did improve on it when the XR3 went injection.

i barely beat one race in my stock RM speed6. (stock as in no other upgrades beyond RM)

passed the lead california on the second to last turn.

i didnt really tune it either, just drove it, and went in the dirt a few times. still pulled it back together for the win.

no aids except abs1, manual, with ds3. was pretty fun.

oh, and racing hard tires, which seemed really weak for some reason.

I had to race the r390 road car... That took all 5 laps to catch. Also the mclaren was in there.
