You see....bable fish lets me down at the FFB point, nice shout though pino-r Just uploading a "test" video to youtube....if it's not to bad I'll post it LOL

OK video quality is naff, need to sort out some settings on the video convert app, but heres the BMW 550 doing a quick 2 lap race. Settings are AI on Legend, simulation settings, manual box, damage on tire wear off all aids off, and yeah I was using my favourite pad.....not

Scuse the shakey lines, it was a bit of a test so the lines are a bit haphazard LOL, started in 10th finished in 14th....usualy I can get upto 7th-5th form there on Legendary.....hopefuly I can get that upto 1st with the tuning options....oh yeah dry track

Some nice driving there Hereward on your favourite pad lol.Well after watching that video this game is definitely not a full on simulation racer.I think i'll wait for more reviews on release day.

? the viewpoint on bumper cam is low but apears higher because the screen has been "pinched" on youtube, look at the "oval dial" this gives a slightly accelerated sense of speed, the track seems much narower also. The 3 tight hairpins were in second gear, less tight bends in 3rd, the 2 fast bends after the start finish straight were in 4th followed by the 2nd gear hairpin, the only real flying bend is the last on down the hill, enter in 4th, and quickly change up to 5th at the apex.......I actualy hit the limiter in 6th at the end on the straight after drafting most of it.....top speed bounceing off the limiter saw me at 171mph. Not that quick really, just apears that way from the camera muckup. heres one not mucked up for comparison. you'll see he swaps the viewpoints and you can see where the viewpoint on mine should have apeared on the bumpercam. This game won't be for everybody, far from it, if your looking for the level of detail of GT5 of Forza 3 you will be disapointed. The physics are not "pushing the envelope" but they are solid and in simulator mode they do what they say on the tin. Go in to a turn too fast you'll understreer, get on the power too soon you'll oversteer, hit the brakes too hard and youll be fighting to keep the car straight. It won't however simulate the heat buildup in an individual tyre wall and the resulting flex and change in grip properties..........What it dose instead is give you close racing and a grin on your face, it however dosn't resemble GRID in any way shape or form other than having BMW's in it and is marketed by codemaster......GRID! you trying to upset me Gordie LOL

LOL No not trying to upset you buddy.I think you've raced that demo to much cause compared to that new video you had a little bit oversteer. Were as that new video has alot of oversteer and understeer which looked promising and two different tracks which ive taken into account aswell.

I stuck the video up as a kind of demonstration of the AI in Legend mode, I've been putting in quite a few hours and I can make up about 5 places in 10 laps or rather 8 laps then go defensive for 2 laps as my tyres fall to bits LOL All the vids I've seen are mainly in arcade mode (not all) and on an easy AI setting, so all you see is someone bump past the whole field in a lap., it dosn't show the close racing off at all. Read a number of reviews out there (It's averageing 7/10) and theres alot of them saying the AI is too easy........It really isnt! and if you don't bang up the AI you don't see the main point of the game, close racing.
Theres quite a few tracks up on youtube that you can watch just be aware of what I've just said about easy level and arcade. As far as oversteer goes, if you wanted you could drift these cars......it aint easy but the cars ain't desighned to drift, there setup to race with max grip. The thing I allways do with racing games to check there handleing / physics is basicly 4 fold, first up the basic donut, then a j turn, I then try a standing burnout in the middle of the track and finaly a poweslide. This basicly lets me see how sophisticated the physics engine is. There all things you wouldn't normaly do in a race and thus if the physics engine isn't up to scratch you'll see it. SV8 happily did all 4, though the standing wheel burnout was a bit of a pain to pull off! One interesting thing that did show up was tyre damage, when doing a donut, the back tyres naturaly soon went red on the damage meter, but I also noticed the iner front wheel also slowly deterated faster than the front outside wheel.......as it should have done, this showed there is actualy quite a smart physics engine at work.

Oh yeah Gordie, some "oversteer" for ya LOL

If you look at the video I put up 23seconds in at the second hairpin, turn 5, I have a senior moment, I got on the power too early and didn't feed the car out of the bend, big tank slaper LOL Had to get of the power to pull it back, lost 2 places on the straight and another on turn 6 because of it! 9th to 12th simply by getting on the power a fraction too early. If turn up the volume you'll hear the revs jump up as it loses traction just before I get off the throtle.....starting to a bit fanboyish about this game LOL

I'm starting to like this game.

One thing I did notice while playing the demo is the inclinations/declinations on this track are clearly visible/noticeable. You can see clearly when you go uphill and downhill.

There are no invisible walls like in Gran Turismo, which is very good!

Split screen? no idea, I would doubt it but we don't know as yet, As for the online rooms, again we don't know, waiting for Amar to post a reply on that one, Our previews were based on the 360 (boo) demo, except for Amars, the lucky swine got a preview copy from milestone.
As for the US release, it's been made by Milestone / Black bean and published by codemasters. I would suspect the US release should be in the next few weeks? but again we / I don't know. The info in this thread is probubley the largest collection of info on the game on the net! It really has been a case of hunting for any little details over the past month or so. You could try IGN for US release date?......Just checked seems it's not got a US release scheduled yet, sorry.

Just stumbled over UKOG Johnboy flying the flag for SV8 over on Forza's forum.......getting a kicking is an understatment! I thought there was some negativity on UKOG's forums over this game but The guys over on Forza's forum are in full swing LOL The best one is people poping up and basicly saying the hardest settings for the AI is far too easy! I'm sorry but belive me, after 10 hours+ on the demo's one trak, I have to seriously work hard to keep the place I started in in the wet on Legend.......I'm not adsactly a slow driver, not the quickest mind but by the forza forums standard I should obviously just pack it in LOL

Bit of track there, but there is a point. This forum is GT based in its user base, but I allways like the open opinions to other racing games from it's users. Ok it's not as good as GT5 but it's enjoyable so lets play it is the usual reponse rather than putting everything down that isn't GT5....

reviewing a demo is just silly to say the least! a demo is meant to make the game known to a broader audience and most of the real gameplay simply can't be judged for the better nor worse! we can only judge the product with a retail version not even the kind of copy amar has help to judge Superstars V8!

Well i see it more as a preview, of course its not a full review since no one has the final game.

But its nice to read about it until we all can have a chance to judge for our self ( Still hoping for a PS3 demo )

Nope, you're wrong about that. The game was released in Italy juin, 19th.

This is what pino-r has to say about the game, he's Italian.

hi to all,
in Italy and' available from some days I have tried the version ps3 from a friend .
as you already have' says the game he remembers Toca(no Grid...) and FC.
I waited for a best graphics , 30 stable frames ,but I believe that some effects make some heavy the graphics,in the next gen consul I expected more me' :nervous: .
I have tried with DFP ,not there and' enough FFand there are no regulations ,badly feelings are interesting.
I believe is a matter of preference and to try well the game as she has said Jonboy, but I fear that the game will have' little succession because' many wait other racing game:SCC, NFSshift,Forza 3,....GT5......... :guilty:
Ihave not succeeded in unfortunately playing online,I have not understood if he is able' to create a private room on invitation .

I believe that I will pick him up' when it will go down' of price

regards 👍

I found this game for sale today in my local games shop. It was £39.99 though so I didn't buy it.

It was available on both PS3 and Xbox360.

I tried the pc demo on a 40" full HD tv and ..... :nervous: :scared:  .

The graphics look much better on this tv than on this 19" (4:3) pc monitor.
The cars really look very good (1920x1080), and they have the right propotions, which isn't the case when playing on this 19" monitor.

ouch! seeing as it's been touted as a 'budget' title, i was hoping for something more along the lines of £29.99

fingers crossed it's more in that ballpark when i go for it tomorrow

maybe asda will be a good bet for a better price, they're usually cheaper than the game shops

You been playing it in "tall" mode Kikie? LOL Did you notice the tracks an awful lot wider on the wide screen......... Seriously though, must have been similar to that youtube vid I did, adsaderated hight on the viewpoint mucks the feel up a little. You'll probubley find it easier to drive close to edge on the full screen..

Not sure whats going on with the PSN store, can't tell if it's updated or not yet but no sighn of a PS3 demo for SV8, unless I missed it? Oh well, I'll pick it up in the morning and awnser the pits and online questions people have been asking about including myself. also the FFB and any other things that have come to light in the full version, such as tuning and tyre selection and how that effects tyre wear in a full race, especialy if theres no pits.

Yeah paul, I'll certainly be grabing a copy from ASDA if the game shops are touting full price for this, looking at games website thats adsactly what there planing on doing.

Hey, I'm going to England tomorrow - will return to Portugal only next wednesday - and I don't see the game available here. Is that "ASDA" you guys are mentioning somewhere I can go to? Or is it online shopping?

ASDA is part of the Wal-mart group put it that way, you may have heard of the infamous Wal-mart before.

I've been tracking this games info and stuff through this thread, seems alright but definately not a full price game, £39.99 is far to expensive especially when you can buy a perfectly solid GT5P experience for about £10 or less if you look around.

I didn't actually pay a lot of attention at the track. I was only interested in the cars and they look marvelous.

If the cars are right proportioned, then the track was also having more realistic measurement.

shopto.net have the game for 28 quid and play.com is 30 quid. What is asda's price, I can't see it listed?

I'll rent it if I can find it as the force feedback doesn't sound promising.

.....I've hit asda, tesco, 2 X game stores. 2X gamestation stores and hmv all give me the same awnser, it should be out today but we havn't got the delivery yet. That was in the Wigan area, St helens and skelmersdale areas in the NW.........Anyone? I did ask the gamestation guys and they said they even had the pre sale game boxes up but just hadn't got the actual game! A few have said to check later. Looking at Games website it's down as released and also IN STOCK...........anyone find a copy please shout up, I doubt we'll hear anything from Milestone or blackbean on the subject LOL

Just came back from game mania (store) and they have SuperStars V8 for the PS3 for €49.98 (£42.7), ($70.29) and for PC for €29.98 (£25.61), ($42.16)

Right Myself and UKOG Gordie went and picked the game up from Blockbusters, cheers Scaff. £34.99, looks like the UK is getting stiffed with the price (no suprise there then) Anyway, the questions

FFB......Yes it's in, about the same as FC on low FFB feels fine
Online custom races........yep, make your own races, select track, weather, number of player slots (upto 12) what mode it will be in, sim, arcade or custom, also select number of laps and finaly if you want AI cars to fill the empty slots and what AI level they are...........There is invite friends though, but if you search matches custom rooms have the players name next to it so easy to get in a room together. Tracks and options can be changed in lobby between races
Online coms......yeah in the lobby its simply speak, in the game however you hold "square" to talk. Works well, stops people chating about the weather and the coms are good quality.
Pits.......Nope no pits!

Ok quick one on online races, with the game hitting europe next week? and copys in the UK being like hens teeth, people playing online are few and far between, that said there seemed to be a steady streem of guys and a few rooms online. I went on with UKOG Gordie for about an hour on around 4-5 tracks, there was an average of about 6 guys in the room for each race. People coming in and out the race lobby while the race was underway had no effect on the race of conection. No one droped out of any of the races and I personaly didn't see any lag or bounceing cars, all looked smooth and solid. I did on my last race total my car, guy in front lost it in the bend and slid down into the apex where I was aiming to scoot under him as Gordie was on my back bumper....I Tboned him quite spectacular, damageing everything bar my brakes, held on for a lap then it progresively got worse so I had to pull over having a measly top speed of 102mph at the end of the straight....so damage and tyre wear plays a big part in multiplayer!

other stuff, didn't see a split screen. Tuning is very involveing with useful effects on your car, but there not usable in multiplayer. Different tyre compounds are also available, again single player mode, which you can use to comat tyre wear.

Tried the championship briefly and it's very good, should keep you involved for quite a bit. Now I've got the final version I'd give it 77% but of course I'm a driving fan so thats biast LOL It's a solid title which could realy host some good online tournaments given the stable nature of the servers. I'd say it's not quite as good as FC overall, but it's not far off! dose the TOCA style close racing thing a treat.

Is there a US release date for this? if I import this will online still function? I'm in dire need of a new racing game the obutto and g25 are bored.

i didnt think the demo was very realistic. and grid seems to be sitting at the top of the arcade racing genre, and that goes for cheaper... I only played the demo for a few minutes since it didnt work with my steering wheel though. maybe I was too quick to judge?

i read that it doesn't work with the g25.
