It works in H pattern only. All shifters have the same issue in gt5. Its how the game was designed not a shifter problem. Also it only works with the T500 wheel.

It works in H pattern only. .
It works in sequential mode also since last update.

Would clutch be required or just using the Th8RS? I'm crap at downshifting with the clutch.
No clutch required: it turns on when you push the clutch pedal the first time; if you don´t push it you can change gears using the shifter only.

Preferred we used clutch at all times. How do you downshift with out? Us have to use paddle to get back into non clutch mode. Just down shifting no clutch from using clutch to shift up results in missed gear.

Was kinda thinking we all would develop better skills using the clutch an shifter.

Highly recommend chasing some heal toe videos. Helps a ton!

What time / date you guys wanna meet up?

Friday nights would be good as the GF always works a back shift. But any time over the weekend is fine

My G25 might be broken a bit because it won't always change to reverse. Always goes to 6th. So my question is, will this work in my G25?

I got the TH8 last week along with the F1 Rim. I'm just wondering what you people would recommend for mounting it on to?
Cheers!

So the Th8 is using a seperate USB in ps3 and pc? also its not conected to the t500rs? also doesnt work with all cars inside gt5?

Hi is it possible to use the sequential mode without having to switch out the H-box plate every single time to avoid having to deal with the hassle of screwing out the plate/changing plates back and forth especially for those that are lazy?

Nope, as there is a switch/button under the plate that has to be depressed to switch into sequential mode. Under the sequential plate there is a notch that depresses that switch.

Isn't the notch required only for console i.e. PS3? For PC, can you change it in just the software/drive? I've never done it myself but I've seen people who basically just turn the H-gated plate 90 degrees to use it as a sequential shifter.

By turning the plate you depress the switch again, as Logi said, and by that it sets the shifter in sequential mode.
The only thing you can adjust in the driver is the analoge handbrake, which uses the horizontal gate.

Does anybody knows which is the current firmware version? I've just bought my TH8 RS today and it came with firmware 2.0 (31/08/2011).

I'm asking this because I've tried to update the firmware three times, and every time I tried it the firmware updater tries to install a new driver (over the current one from Thrustmaster website!) and if I allow it to install, Windows can't see TH8 RS anymore, even if I uninstall the driver by the setup app and reboot. The only solution I've found is to switch to another USB hub (!), but, of course, without the chance to update the firmware or TH8 RS won't be detected by Windows (here is XP x64).

I think that maybe this is the same problem that Oreth (here) and bearair (here) reported.

I don't know if there's a firmware update since version 2.0 (or even if it worths the update). The main point here is that it would be great if I could really uninstall the firmware updater driver in order to use the first USB hub of my machine -- the current one I'm using is located in the back of my case and this is too far from me.

Thanks!

EDIT: ok, I've managed to re-use any USB port. The only thing now is that it's not possible to update the firmware, once the updater can't see the TH8 RS in the last step ('Check' or 'Verify', I'm not quite sure).

Quick question. How well does the mount work that comes on the shifter? I'll be mounting it to a playseat and the metal it will mount to is very thin. Does it hard mount or is the clamp thing the only way to mount it?
I would rather just use the clamp, but I want it to be very strong.
Im sure these questions have been answered before but this is a really bug thread to go through. Sorry if this is repetitive.

If its the playeat evo and you have the shifter mount the holes that are drilled in the mount fit the hard mount points on the shifter. Hope that helps.

Get the shifter mount for the Playseat and it will bolt right to it. See this post for pics and details.

Thanks,
I got the shifter and mounted it, the holes were really close but it does make you turn the unit to the side just a tad. I can live with it though. At first I thought the shifter didn't feel that great and thought I wasted my money. I then went over and gave the Fanatec shifter a feel again and realized how nice the TH8 is. Hopefully I get a chance to give it a try tonight. I will need another USB extender though to be able to use it and don't know if I'll be near a radio shack today to buy one. That's the only place in my area that I can find them and it's a half hour drive away.

Just a note, if you don't already know, if you loosen the screws holding the plate on, you can rotate the shifter.

So if the whole shifter unit is turned slightly to one side, you can adjust it so that the shifter gate and such itself is in the right position.

I seen that. It's actually lined up how I wanted the shifter to be with a little clockwise turn, it just has the base a little crooked too. It's not a big deal just something I noticed. If I hadn't of been the one that mounted it I wouldn't even notice. If someone tried to crank the screws down to mount it and keep it perfectly straight on the playseat adapter they would end up bending some of the metal on the base of the shifter.
