I'll thank them with $100, or however much the "forever" version of GT5 will cost.. the one where you get some bonuses and all future DLC for free.

Come on guys and gals 1,036 views and 31 posts, thats a pretty poor showing for a great guy and team behind him, btw thank you is all that is required, manners cost nothing.

I think the fact they've got about £200 of my money in their pockets is more than enough. Why are we saying thanks for? We haven't got the game yet. It might be pants.

Strange thread.

Agreed.

I don't see a reason to thank them for not releasing GT5.

Kazunori Yamauchi is such a hard worker, he said many days he never left work but instead slept at his desk to wake up the next day to continue work

If you dont want to thank them for spending the last 4 years making GT5 then at least thank KY and his crew for the dozen or so GT games they have released

Even though I've gave PD tons of cash over the last 11 years, I still would like to thank them for opening up my eyes, with cars that I never knew existed. Before GT came along, all I knew was Civics, Chevelles, and Supras, now I know the world.

I'd also like to take the time to thank Jordan for this wonderful community that he has created. Most sites are flame wars, disguised as forums, while :gtplanet: seems to have maturity well above others.

There has been lots threads as regards cars, tracks, damage and release date, however again not a single thread to say thank you for a hard working guy who had a vision, and also the team that works with him.

Therefore i will start by saying a big Thank You to Kazunori Yamauchi and The Team for all the hard work and dedication to producing GT5, that is almost up on us.

So come on guys and gals, time to show some manners and say thank you.

Thanks to PD for their hard work on GT5! 👍

<sounds of whip cracking> Now back to work on the game! (joke)

They will get my ''thank you'' when they will get 60 bucks out of GT5.

BTW GT5P kicks ass. Thank you for this one.

Thank you Kazunori Yamauchi and the rest of Polyphony Digital Inc. I've played Gran Turismo since the first title came out back in 1998. I own every game in the series and I still play them every now and then, to get nostalgic.

I can't describe how much I'm looking forward to the fifth game. The trailer you guys put together for E3 the other week blew me away.

Keep up the good work! 👍

Nice manners, mate. 👍

What has manners got to do with this anyway?

I would assume that since this is in the GT5 forum, we're supposed to extend our thanks regarding GT5.. and I don't mean to spoil the mood here, but we don't really know anything anything about it yet. When we get some information, confirmation, or anything at all, then it's time to be grateful. At this moment all we have are rumours and speculation from outside sources.

I'll be more than willing to thank PD and Kaz for their commitment when they reveal what they've been working on. I don't know anybody in PD in person, so all I can give them credit for is their work - and right now I have no idea what they're doing. So, does wanting to know what I'm grateful for make me bad mannered?

I would actually consider it more rude to applaude before the finale, and ask yourself this: How much weight does praise have when it's given before it's due? Just think about it for a minute.

I personally won't be thanking anybody, despite myself. I think thanking them in this manner is perhaps a tad patronising, touching though it is.

And, of course, the game is not yet ready...

Instead, I would like to offer my congratulations to Yamauchi-san and all team members, past and present, for pushing on this far with what was once only a dream. Yes, there may arguably have been a bit of a lull with the PS2 versions, but I think come July we'll see that we're back on track.

Congratulations Polyphony Digital, and good luck for the future!

OK, so that was patronising...

It would be hard to come up with a bigger Gran Turismo fanboy than me. :dopey:

When things were rather grim around here at the start of the year, with no update to Prologue and Christmas quickly fading away, complaints and ill feelings were getting thick. I was one of the few who were trying to lift spirits. When Amar's cryptic posts wore thin, I reminded them that E3 was coming, and really would arrive, with news of some kind. It was kind of a nail biter as the SONY conference was coming to an end, seeming to touch on every game but GT5. And then that glorious video appeared. And then many of us complained about that! It seems we're never happy unless we're griping sometimes. But though I got a little discouraged at times, I never doubted that something very special was coming.

Every Gran Turismo was a unique experience, when I discovered why the game was loaded with sports cars rather than just race cars. It's because the game was created by a man and a team who love cars, and wanted to share that love with us in a very special way.

And I learned to love this game. Like many avid fans, I came to terms with the different makes of cars and how they handled, what the parts were for and how they synergistically worked together to get the car down the track as fast as I could make it go. When I initially cringed at the thought of racing 60hp dinky cars, I came to realize that you had to race your very best not just to win, but to progress at all. I did everything these games offered, because they were lessons in how to handle cars, and not just that, but how to appreciate cars. That was quite a surprise, and I learned a lot from this man and his team.

There are games I dearly love which have characters that embody a certain magical living quality, that have personalities which endear me, and worlds which captivate me. Sonic games, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Devil May Cry - the first anyway, Phantasy Star, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid... several game series which take me to some kind of magical place where I can experience a living dream. I play them over and over, and after I get a new game and beat it, I invariably return to them and play them again. They're special, because the creator poured his soul into them, doing everything they could to fashion a living work of art, and populating it with charming people I'd love to know.

There is only one racing series which gives me that same excitement and anticipation, and that's Gran Turismo. There is simply nothing like it.

Thank you, Yamauchi Kazunori, for sharing your dream with me.

Im going to add my thanks to this thread because if it wasn't for developers like PD I would suffer from severe depression.

As im disabled due to spinal problems (just had 4th operation) im mainly confined indoors. Now if it wasn't for games such as GT5 I would become very depressed largely due to boredom. However this isn't the case thanks to developers like PD because when GT5 comes out I shall be playing at least 8hrs a day on a daily basis. Also being able to race and interact with my friends is very important as I enjoy socialising.

Thank You Kaz and team, for your dedication to the dream. And for always trying to break boundaries. You've stirred the hearts and passions of millions of adoring fans worldwide, salud, and out with it already! :D:D:D

Yes thanks for your consistent communication with us via this forum and your own regularly updated website and the valued progress/development updates you have given us with regards to the game.

Other software houses don't update their websites very often and shed little or no light on the status of development of their game with their loyal fan-base, keeping them in the dark, which is so disappointing.

So thanks again for really acknowledging that we exist on this forum as it's really nice for us to know that you appreciated our thoughts and comments and of course our hard earned cash.

You guys are the best!

You forgot your sarcasm tags

If you want to moan instead of saying thankyou, perhaps you should start your own thread telling everyone how disappointed you are in Kazunori Yamauchi, instead of trolling the thread which the OP started with the intention of genuinely being positive?

Not calling you a troll or anything though Craste.

I'm genuinely ecstatic with the games Kazunori Yamauchi has provided and if we ever had a post from him on this site then it would merit a lovely note from me thanking him for his work.

But for a company who treats it's loyal fan base with the lack of communication we receive from them doesn't in my eyes warrant a a sickly sweet candy wrapped brown nosing post like the one we have here.

I read it and almost had to grab a bucket to barf into.

Why are you taking the time to pay compliments to a company who doesn't even take the time to acknowledge you?

I know its a great product we we all love but come on read the previous posts - it brings a tear to your eye and you want to go a hug a kitten.

If Kazunori Yamauchi posted just once on this site to say thank you for all our support then i could understand.

It would be like logging onto a Ferrari or Porsches owners club and there been a post called "Thank you Enzo ferrari and the rest of the ferrari team"

In fact the more i think about it this post is the saddest post in the world.

Oh god the shame of it.

Obviously the thought above are just my own opinions which I'm entitled too so please be nice as my flame proof overalls are down the dry cleaners at the moment.

I can kinda see crastes point. A little acknowledgement/attention goes a long way.

The main game/sim i play is il2 sturmovik, i've played it since 2002, and the main developer oleg maddox has always kept in touch with us somehow. Even if it's months and months between posts/messages, he keeps us up to date and is always friendly. This is a man who has produced a multi million selling ww2 sim, the most prestigious ww2 aerial combat product ever made, and he finds time to update us. That's cool in my eyes. I'd still play the game without the messages and interviews, but they make the experience that bit more sweeter.

I am grateful for GT series though. I hope the finished product rocks like GT1 and GT4 did.

You cant really compare that though, not only is Polyphony Digital a Japanese company, where the whole mentality is different, the company itself is also way bigger and a huge part from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. Show me one (Japanese) company that has such a connection between the devs and the fans.

EDIT:

Yeah someone who can understand me (see my other post here)!

I agree with Craste. I never wrote a letter to Porsche thanking them for 3.2 Carrera. I never e-mailed Compaq for how good my computer has been to me. And I never even thought about thanking Canon for uber-nice camera.

All of which has given me more utility and greater pleasure than a videogame. And yet, my hard-earned cash was thanks enough. Why should PD be any different? Did they work any harder than the other employees?

I find it ironic that your telling me to read the previous posts, because if you had, you might have noticed that I haven't taken the time to pay compliments to a company who doesn't even take the time to acknowledge me.

I can understand that you may dislike PD's tumble weed approach but wouldn't it be better to just let this thread be, if people want to thank Kaz, Kudos to them, I'm not going to post here about how he doesn't deserve their praise, its not particularly constructive, there are other threads which favour this discussion, and yes while I agree threads are generally for discussion, there are better places for it. 👍

No flames from me. :P

Well believe me, developing a game like GT is a REALLY hard job and dont forget you "only" pay 60 bucks for a PlayStation game, not hundreds or thousands of $.
