The 20 tracks issue is really bugging me

If it was still posted on the site... I'd give you that. But since its not... its back to speculation.

Well I can see only two options

1. Everything about it was accurate but accidentally released a head of schedule so they had to take it down.

2. There was a mistake in the release somewhere. But then why not simply edit out the mistake and keep it up?

Or 3. It was a draft copy and put up an was an enabled page. On a web page, its possible to load it up and not have it displayed to the public. You probably were never meant to see it in the first place.

Don't you mean "not supposed to see it.....yet."

In which case there's no reason to believe any of the info was inaccurate.

I believe it's more like 60 (including variation) and 20 more to ba added. Here's from an article on Kaz:

Yamauchi was conspicuously mum on Gran Turismo 5 details, but spoke in some detail about Gran Turismo Mobile, which goes on sale October 1. We briefly played a Japanese version of GT Mobile, and among its 35 tracks (60 variations), you'll find the Nurburgring Nordschleife and Laguna Seca -- and, we're told, all the other tracks from GT4.

have to say, this thread has shown me a lot about the power of denial. Myself and a few other members have tried to keep people informed with the facts, but it's lost in a sea of interpretations and theories about what the real meaning is.

It's so bad that clix, who, if you look closely, is from JAPAN, even posts yet another successful translation (directly from the original and only source of all this discussion) and the very next post says "I THINK THERE'L BE 100 TRACKS", with noone even acknowledging his efforts.[/QUOTE]

it would be very nice to have 100 tracks .. but with the time to make just one track on the ps3 said to be around 1 year
maby we only end up with 20 + tracks.. we have to waith and see.. the game isent out yet so it may change closer to the realese

What's the price of the most expensive PS3 game? (excluding collector's editions and the likes), in other words if GT5 is to be released in two versions, what's the expected price of the higher version?

I find the translations made by the members who can read Japanese to be quite accurate, but questioning the accuracy of the features list that was briefly posted on the Japanese
web site to be the right thing. The list shows a strange balance of 1000 cars to 20 tracks.
but this has been repeated before.

Just won't know until TGS.:):)

I haven't seen anybody say that interpretation is wrong, just that it is highly unlikely. As I have said before there is no way they would release a game on the PS3 with 20-24 tracks while the PSP version has 35. That would basically be asking to get destroyed by the video game sites.

It takes 1 year to make a track on the PS3? Then wouldn't it take 20 years to make 20 tracks? Something there doesn't seem right...

I would aslo like to know where the 1 year = 1 track time frame came from. Or did some just pull it out of there keyster?

1 year to make 1 track obviously relates to how long it would take 1 person to do - do you really think PD only have 1 person constructing the tracks?

Messiah, I didn't mean to be a jerk, it's just that the only figures that have ever been published say "over 20 tracks, and over 60 layouts". Perhaps this won't come true, but (afaik) they are the only figures to have been seen so far, with incorrect translations making it onto trusted websites. ;)

I just wanted to keep speculation separate from the evidence, but I'm starting to feel like a bit of a jerk shooting people down for throwing numbers around, so I'll stop.

No worries, but considering the size and scope that we know the game to be, 20 tracks seems a bit low, everything else is going to another level compared with GT4, and I very much doubt the track count would go backwards.

There's just too much we haven't been told yet, things will hopefully be a lot clearer after TGS in a few weeks time

I have faith Kaz will come through for us :)

Well I just received a call from somebody at PD (can't say who it is, but they call him Kaz) and he told me not to worry about the tracks.
So, don't worry!

I would bet my life that we will be able to BUY more tracks. PD is a SONY company, and its sole purpose is to make money for the large conglomerate.

Just another thought on the features list that was pulled, this is the type of thing that you could imagine seeing projected on a screen with Kazunori Yamauchi standing at a podium explaining the items one by one. This list make a lot of assumptions that the reader would understand, such as what are Premium & Standard without explanation. This list probably wasn't. meant for direct reader consumption. Its more like short hand notes that you take to a meeting, explain in further detail with your clients.:)

only 20 tracks, whats teh point. Im guessing they'll be the 6 in gt5p.

london
daytona
suzuka
eigar
fuji
hsr

then
indianapolis
nurburgring
tokyo
le mans
laguna seca
infineon
trial mountain
grand valley
monaco
motegi
test track

then maybe 3 dirt tracks lol

no point in buying game.

Regarding the tracks thing, an advert for GT5 appears to have thrown a spanner in the works of the "20 tracks" thing since, if I'm understanding this correctly, this advert for GT5 claims that the game will have "30 International Racecircuits". If you're interested in seeing for yourself, a link to the article is here:

..and a direct link to the advert is here:

Now obviously this could be completely wrong but, they went to the trouble of making a full page ad for the game in a magazine, and it looks to me like it says 30 international race circuits so... who knows? If you're having trouble seeing what I'm referring to, have a look at the info box in the bottom right corner of the advert.
