I distinctly remember completing GT4 to 100% completion, fully convinced you unlocked every car at that point. Turns out nothing happened and I came to these forums to learn that the fastest way to make money was one specific car/track combination and doing this for hours on end was called "grinding".

It was at that moment I said to myself I would never ever do such a thing. And I didnt.

I've read enough about GT7 to know that theres too much that bothers me (grinding, AI, career structure and non customizable HUD to name the most important to me), and I'll probably pick this up in a year of few years time when it's cheap. Im sure I'll have some fun with it but to me it doesnt justify full retail price to me.

I hope everyone here does enjoy it though

The game economy is a joke. I just checked out the one race the game gives you at Le Mans, 5 laps, max reward 5K

I finished all the content except the newly popped up races like the one at Le Mans. Is there any more coming as I'm broke lol. I spend the little I had left over on tires and Nitro to finish the last drag race in missions. To the grind...

Oh well, nothing to grind for yet, daily races are a dud so far. However my GR.3 and GR.4 cars still need tires, and it would be nice to get a GR.2 car and another GR.1 car. (Bought the TS050 for the Le Mans race) And when will a GR.C car turn up. Meanwhile the game gives you plenty GR.B cars... Rally mode. Oh also the SF19 is on the list.

Indeed - but the key difference with GT1-4 is you didn't need to do it for 100% completion. From GT5 onwards it has been part of 100% completion.

Although while I can recall just how bad it was in GT5, and obviously GT Sport, I don't really remember it being that heinous in GT6. Autobarmy was the longest trophy that I recall, and that just came up from driving.

See, you were smart and waited. The nostalgia bug bit me like crazy with this game and my dumb ass bought it 12hr before it even launched. In a year this game will (maybe "should" is a better word) be awesome, right now there's just nothing to do. Well, unless doing the same 3min 5 sec dirt race for hours on end to be able to afford anything is "something to do". When/if GT8 rolls around, I'll be sitting the first few months out and will only buy when the game is in a finished state.

I remember some tedium with GT5, but I never regretted buying the game. Even without the special events there was still plenty to do. I bet I spent a week or two straight just running various Group C/LMP cars around an oval track event (can't remember the name) just testing different tunes/cars to see which one ran the fastest laps. And I had enough credits that I could just keep buying more cars to run that event... I think it paid fairly well, but credits were easy enough to come by that one could just go do a random event for FUN and not feel like they're missing out on something by not being 100% efficient.

I'd kill to have the problems GT5 had in this title, lol

I'say it again, sardenia dirt-pepper-thing is a track with a much more pleasant flow, and its three small laps total under 4 minutes for the same amount of credits.
doing the fisherman all day long will drive you nuts :D

It depends when you bought GT5. If you bought it say, after Spec II then you probably didn't run into problems with needing grinding. If you bought it at release, the career was literally designed to be impossible without repeating races. There was a point at which you'd completed everything available to you and still didn't have enough XP to unlock the next tier of races, and it only got worse from that point on.

GT5 in it's final form wasn't that bad, GT5 1.01 was probably the worst career in a Gran Turismo game.

We need another exploit like in GTSport where you rubber band your controller and leave the race on for a few hours.

Recall the fh5 rubber band exploit with the sesto, grinding skill points and buying up loads of red caymans to get 'wheel spins'...

Had that running in the background for hours each day whilst working :D

This isn't the most efficient way to earn, but it has to be the easiest! Special Stage Route X, 1 lap, I use a souped-up Ford GT '06 (which tops out at 409 Km/h on my set-up) and get Cr. 45,000 for less than 5 easy minutes on the wheel. :)

So your point of view, is that casual players, should have the exact same access to rewards, as players who spend exponentially more time and effort? That's your idea of fair?

What's a 'fair time line' in a game that is designed to have a 5 year shelf life? It's likely 6 months before we see a full cycle of the legend garage for perspective.

You guys realize this is a business right? That this entire video game is an advertising campaign? That the reason these sponsors, companies, and manufacturers partner with Gran Turismo, is because of how valuable the product placement is?
That value is directly correlated to how many eyes their product reaches, how long those impressions last, etc etc. That's why dedicated gamers are rewarded in game, because they are financially worth more, as statistics, to future companies, manufacturers, games, tracks, etc. You think it's a coincidence that GT pivoted itself into the Olympics? FIA partnerships, so on and so forth.

PD wants to keep you around as long as possible for active player counts, total player this, copies sold that, so that they can sell their reputation for profit outside of the game. They want to keep you around for as long as possible because they want to sell you more cars and tracks with DLC.

Gran Turismo is not, never has been, and likely never will be, about instant gratification.

Agree to a point, but what about games like fh5, where you can pickup super car brands very early on? Unless we're saying gt is considered more serious, prestigious to manufacturers?

I'm not saying gt should go down the forza route, just that I'm not sure the whole brand prestige and demands they may make of gaming companies is the prime reason for what we're currently witnessing with gt7.

Anyone have a car/tune for fishermans to get sub 3 mins? Wouldn't mind optimizing the race just for the sake of it
My Personal Best is mid 2:58 with this tune. Should also make the Lancer Evo tolerate the jumps a bit better. I'm trying to figure one out for the Focus and the WRX, so that will take some time and trial + error. Ignore the handbrake, I have no idea why I bought it.

Is there some benefits to using Co troller over a wheel on dirt?

I'm not the best player....
On wheel, I struggle to get within a second.
On controller, won 4 times straight.

I've tried to Audi and Focus, with no changes but a mid range turbo.
Let's not even talk about clean race bonus 😂 To say I can't drive on dirt, would be an understatement.

Okay, so I don't seem to be alone on this... I'm usually a wheel player, but for some reason in this game, I am much faster on controller for rally tracks. Hard to explain why or how, though...

There are likely a few hidden assists for controller users this time around. That seems to be the consensus so far.

Really making me sad this now hope they improve this with updates , not so much the lack of grind up the ultra ultra low reward for all other races make them pointless.

But most of all is the lack of race involved in the grind . This chase the rabbit is soul destroying numb
What I'd give for a off the line race rather than catch up on a boring series of obstacles placed to try make you lose a clean race bonus .
Gee thanks polyphonic.

Fingers crossed new opportunities are just a patch away 🙏

Clubman 350 Mini is a good race to farm, because it's easy to learn and the car is really easy to drive, but you do need a good build. Not many handling mods, just go nuts on power.

The greatest irony of this race is how it subverts the "catch the rabbit" trope. You start in 5th. But there's a red Mini that starts in 8th and it's scripted to win. Unless... you're smart, build your car for speed and get rid of the also-rans quickly. Put a lead of minimum 5 seconds between you and 2nd place by the start of lap 2 and Brown won't catch up in time. In a sense, he's the player and you are the rabbit he needs to catch up to!

Pretty sure that Mini is cheating unless I did things to my car I shouldn't have (such as level 3 weight reduction and aero). No way a 350 Mini can be that fast unless something fishy is going on.

And it has applications for the career mode too. Don't know which 20m car to buy? Try them both in Arcade Mode first...
Just to clarify, this is a suggestion right - I'm assuming it's not possible to do this currently in GT7? I've tried to 'test drive' cars, but I can't find a way to do it, thanks if anyone can clarify.

Sadly, you're correct. This cannot be done in GT7. Or Sport (aside from a literal handful of cars).
Ah thanks, and that seems to be my first post, having been a member and regular reader of the forum since GT5 days. Managed to keep my mouth shut for years 🤐

Haha yeah, that red mini caused me a few issues! Have to watch him on that long straight a couple of turns from the end.

I’ve had no trouble winning the Clubman + and the Gr 4 Chilli Pepper races I’ve done so far, but I’m intrigued with the Fisherman’s Rally chilli race everyone’s going on about. Hate the rally stuff in GT in general but gave it a couple of tries in the Focus, stock tuning, and close but can’t win. Is anyone doing it in the Focus stock, or is it necessary to tune? Other car is not too far ahead at end so suspect it can be won stock if I bothered to learn the track, but don’t want to waste time if everyone’s tuning...

I used the Ford a couple times, can be done, just got to bide your time when to pounce. The 86 is easier for me (stock). It takes a couple runs to get used to the track. It would be less of a grind if we could do it in VR!

I'm doing some races, then Fisherman again to actually get some credits. 5K for 10 laps on Le Mans and Monza, really. Just doing races I don't even get enough for basic upgrades to cars.

Shame that we cant make quite as much an hour as we could in Sport, but I guess some of the cars being cheaper helps a little. Here's a real casual run in the 86 Gr.B with no upgrades, hopefully it's useful for someone as an example.

The problem with GT7 though, is that you don’t know what will show up in the Legendary dealership. In GT Sport all the cars were always there so it was less stressful.

Here's a method that is the most guaranteed win and is only about 15% less money per hour than the Gr. 4 at High Speed Ring.

Sunday Cup race at Daytona oval and using the Dodge Tomahawk S. The tune is at the end. Also I tried the Tomahawk S for the event at Route X and it makes a little less money per hour and is less fun without the challenge of avoiding lapped cars.

The legendary dealership rotates in 2 to 3 months. Don't worry about getting all of them in the first round.
