It wouldn't have to be "open-carry". Weapons could easily be concealed.

I guess if that is what prevented what would almost certainly have led to massive bloodshed, we should all be grateful DC has that policy.

I may have missed this due to taking time off to sleep ... but were any of the rioters armed? If not, this seems something of an oddity, given that there were armed protestors present at numerous other events before the election - like around the Michigan legislature. Clearly, people in the Capitol did fear for their lives, but the really frightening thing would have been a few crazed rioters among the crowd with firearms, shooting & killing members of Congress.

Seems at most, a long rifle and a Molotov were found in somebody’s cooler.

Bill Barr has betrayed his oath of office. Surely the FBI has evidence we're not aware of but we're all fairly convinced Barr is complicit in all of Trump's efforts, including block the execution of law which fits the definition of sedition, insurrection, etc.

You're probably wondering why someone who unlawfully gained entry to the Capitol, which was occupied at the time of the breach, needs zipties and is wearing such iconography. It's also worth pondering whether it has anything to do with the makeshift gallows that Republicans erected outside...

I've enthusiastically endorsed peace and prosperity all right, as everyone should. I've never endorsed Trump per se, but his campaign promises of peace and prosperity and in-office policies which tended to peace and prosperity did tend to bring my approval, yes.

In any case, domestic insurrection is definitely a breach of the peace, and Trump incited it. His madness has gone too far to be tolerated, no matter his successes.

People keep pointing them towards Donald Trump though. At least, that's what I believe this paywalled article says.

Their Republican friends support the law and order party, so they're obviously going to be dropping dimes. If they don't get turned over promptly, well, I don't think Republicans' word can be trusted anymore.

Biden has to do something. Our enemies are united - this is the time to show the world, including our enemies, that we have a justice system which can follow rules and is effective. If we don't issue swift, harsh, widespread justice then it will invite our enemies to have their way with us. Obviously we would never extradite our own former president or any other of our own officials because if we did it would be an abdication of our own justice system and display an incapacity to govern.

Americans aren't the only one pissed that Trump's America has been entirely incompetent. Biden needs to establish harsh justice and it needs to be seen publicly by the entire planet. Trump, Giuliani, Barr, Cruz, Carlson, they all need to be on tape handcuffed being escorted to trial if America expects to have any credibility on the world stage ever again.

I haven't felt this unsafe in my own room since my apartment was burgled years ago. I feel unsafe.
