the "just plain ugly" car thread

These have got to be some of the ugliest cars on the road:

The new Range Rover

The SsangYong Rodius/Stavic

Looks like King Kong's electric shaver

Found another one, it's an old one....the Dodge Polara 500 (1962).

These old Chrysler's are still running down here. lot's of character. I'd have one.

my vote. I can't stand that someone actually bought one of these and I saw one in the same colour. I don't even want to show the ute version. this is just an eyesore.

I give you the SsayngYong

A Range Rover has to look good out in the country, in the forests on the drive of gravel leading to the typical house of an aristocrat; it must show discretion. The new one doesn't, it draws attention to itself. But unlike an Aston Martin or a Ferrari it does it in a bad way.

And pretty much everything in the Nissan range. Like the 80s, I think we're unfortunately in a period of very confused design where the frustrating chasm between what technology allows us to design and what legal barriers restrict us to has never been greater.

I honestly think the Nissan Juke isn't that bad looking with the right colour (or even in the NisMo version)

I don't even know what that is, but I'm pretty sure the designers used it as a reference.

This car IMO is the ugliest car ever made. The people from my country took a Lancer, made it butt ugly and resold it to us citizens as this POS. :yuck:

Look at that front. What is that, a nose?!! :yuck: And the bulge on the hood just looks out of place. :yuck:

Look at that rear, what the hell is going on with those tail lights?!! :yuck: What are those silver parts doing there?!! :yuck: Half of it doesn't even serve a purpose as they don't light up!

Every time I see one I just feel like smashing it with a crowbar. I hate this car.

This probably says more about me that the car, but I tend to like the old Protons. They're inoffensive (to me) and neat.

It's just too boxy for me I guess. I've never really liked it personally.

I actually think the E-Class is a significant improvement over the awkwardly sharp model that came about a couple years ago. Neither have the nice simple elegance of the mid 00s E-Class though. I'm not feeling the rest of the Mercedes lineup, at least the most recent models. I particularly dislike the 2014 S-Class, which is a shame because it'll be one of the best cars on the market, except it looks fugly. It's the first S-Class I don't like. Mercedes seem to have this new philosophy where they give the car two blobby headlights and then stick some LEDs in there to give it some shape. It doesn't look particularly good on the E or the GLK, and it only looks worse here. The last S-Class was a big, authoritative sedan that held a lofty spot near king of the road status. But this just looks like a melted, stretched CLA. It almost looks like a German interpretation of a Hyundai Sonata.

They had to go make it look like a "four door coupe" too. The S-Class should have a design that embraces the fact that it's a large luxury sedan, it shouldn't get caught up in the latest fad of making everything curvy and making the trunk short. The back looks just as awful. The taillights are a bad shape, the way the trunk flows with the body is weird, and the rear looks too small for the rest of the car. It looks like a Hotwheels car I have, where it's really big at the front but gets really small at the back.

I don't like how the interior is a slab of wood with four ugly vents and two huge screens either. At least the steering wheel looks better, but that's it.

To be honest, when I first saw the back of the 2014 S-Class, it reminds me the elegant back of the current gen CL which is basically a S-class coupe. So, it's not entirely a new design "philosophy" on that particularly back. Below is the 2007 CL model I think

You guys both posted the concept car version of the Flex. The production model is even less appealing.

That's he older model. I have indeed seen the one I posted on the road a few times.

I've always quite liked the Edsels...

And Liquid, that Bentley should be in the questionable mods thread. Those Range Rover bits. :ill:

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I've always liked the Mazda5. But then they updated it with the Mazda happy face stuff and ruined it... The rear end though is the worst offender for me.

Loved it when they looked like this...

I'm sure many people hate softroaders... And I remember when the Traverse came out. I hated them so much, especially when I'm stuck behind them and have to look at the rear end. The taillights are just too small!

I can see how the Edsel might not appeal to some but that big grill just strikes me in a way that makes it stand out from everything and makes it neat.

The rest of it is just fine, it's the toilet seat grille that made it famously ugly.
