the "just plain ugly" car thread

It's okay to have an opinion, but it's just not okay to make a big freaking deal about someone else's non-empirical statements about subjective things such as styling.

I don't believe that wanting someone to provide a brief explanation as to why they feel that way is too much to ask. This is a forum after all.

It's almost as bad as people posting inoffensive car designs here with reasons that didn't go beyond them being "bland" or "unexciting". Unless it's so obviously repulsive that no explanation is required (Re: D120), then at least add some constructive reasoning for others to chew over rather than a blunt statement.

And not wanting to leave another post without including something I do consider unsightly: Porsche Disproportionata Panamericana concept.

It's almost as out-there as some of those Porsche-based Rinspeed creations. The oversized wheels and goofy front-end are rather unflattering though.

I disagree
A break from tradition, I guess. Looks cute

The new generation of Jeep Cherokees.... Seriously looks like something in the front end got squished. When using the CAD software for design, someone forgot to click the checkbox " constrain proportions"

They've just advertised it Down Under as "sleek". I'm not going to waste my time explaining whats wrong with it, its just awful.

I spy with my little eye, Jag E-Type-esque quarter panels.

Nine... NINE people can sit in this car without proper seats! Does that sound dangerous enough? If the looks didn't kill you, falling out of the car probably would...

9 sitting on motorbike seats whilst having all sides covered by panels, so in reality, it's more safe than a motorbike

I absolutely love the look of the FJ Cruiser, I think they pulled off the retro styling rather nicely.
They do look good on the outside but if you have ever driven one they have horrible visibility & blind spots. I came very close to buying a used FJ a few months ago but went with a used Tundra instead.

I have sat in one actually, that's the one thing I dislike about them. Horrible visibility, and difficult to see out of.
