I just bought a DFP, haven't recieve it yet and one of these off of ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21188&item=8162166991&rd=1

does anyone here have one of those, are they good?
not that I can do anything about it now :dopey:

Forget that one...looks a bit too unstable....
Check this one out instead...for 1/2 the price of the one off of eBay, I think this is your best bet!

NOTE: Watch the video <top right corner> & see how fast it can be set up!

I'm sorry if this question already been answered...
But the connection of my computer is kind of slow...so that I can't read this hole topic before falling asleep :) Zzzzzzzzzzz.

But which games are best for trying out the LDF pro wheel???

Best regards,
Frenk

Well, for over 200 degrees, i'd have to say Live for Speed, Richard Burns rally (540°)
and lots of people like playing GTR with 900 mode, but i think thats weird :)

Obviously all those GT4 demos also. I havent played any GT4 demos personally.

Has anyone used this with the Logitech Lap Attachment? I need something small and portable that I can put away when I'm not playing.

I would love to get the whole racing seat setup but my fiancee would KILL my ass.

i have the lap attatchement since it came with the old driving force, and it just gets annoying with the DFP. You should buy a Video capture card like i am in a few days in preparation for GT4. 👍

here a picture of my DFP setup...

Yea but I prefer playing my console games on my 56" DLP HDTV/home theater system than on my 19" flat panel.

is drifting in 900 mode as difficult in gt4 as it is in LFS? Does teh wheel spin easier in gt4?

I can't compare it with LFS but it's certainly more difficult than GT3 I find, but just got hold of a RX-7 RZ '95 last night, put on level 2 suspension and and muffler, stock tires and got some nice drifts with it. It is harder to hold the drift though, but feels really nice when you you get it right.

I received my DFP about 2 weeks ago, and it has been GREAT.
I started to try it on GT3.

I turned the force feedback off and set it as 200 degree lock to lock just to get better lap times as a beginner of DFP. The result is 3 second slower than my lap time on midfield raceway using dualshock with gt40 race car fully loaded, but I'M satisfied. (1:09 vs 1:06 on average with medium slicks)
Just remember to return the wheel to zero position (or counter steer) when getting out of a corner when using DFP. (gt3 zeros the steering itself when user release the directiona buttom if using dualshock) .

I came across a problem in GT3 that if I turned the force feedback on and my car bang the walls or I hold the wheel in a direction for too long during a game, the steering wheel would not return to zero position itself and the zero position went way off-center . (That is one of the reason why I turn the force feedback off. )

Any body came across thae same problem I did ?
If so, would the same problem happen to GT4 ?

LFS en GTR are pc games...and RBR is for ps2 right?

Best Regards,
Frenk

RBR is for PS2 and PC, but i dont know how the DFP works with RBR for PS2. It works well for pc in 540 mode, which i believe is not able to be selected on PS2's

I've also heard Toca Race Driver 2 works well with DFP on PS2. You should rent it and try that one out.

ngathang
yes i do :) plus i got the PS2 hook up onto the computer using the TV card and here a picture of it running GT4

What is the model of the TV card you have? Are you using composite RCA or S-Video input? How good is the image quality with that card?

Got my DFP yesterday and spent the evening fighting with it on GT3. EVERY attempt at racing with it ended in a loss of input anywhere from 2 seconds to 2 laps into the run. Once it was gone, I had to reset the console to get any wheel/pedal functionality back. Unplugging & replugging wouldn't work, and if I used the DS2 to go back to the calibration options, it wouldn't detect that any wheel was connected.

For the sake of reference, the best way to solve this was to get a new PS2. I called Logitech and as soon as they heard that the wheel worked with Auto Modellista they claimed the problem was 'game specific' and that I should call Sony. I did, and after a weak attempt to flip the problem back on Logitech (nice try) and several minutes on hold I got a semi-believeable answer from Sony: even though the DFP worked with another game the problem's not the game - it's the USB port on my old-skool 30001 PS2. Apparently all the USB data-handling is dealt with by the game software but if the on-board USB controller chews it, USB may or may not work with specific games.

I could send it to Sony and for $140CDN they'd repair it, but they wouldn't like my modchip and I'd still be stuck with a four year old PS2. I borrowed my friend's PS2 to make sure it would sove the problem, then went and picked up a little PStwo for $170CDN. It's so cute! More importantly, it works with my DFP. Another chunk of money invested in my future enjoyment of GT4, I guess...

guitarmagedon
with the dfp does it make it harder to drive at high speeds. and how realistic is it? thanx
Well, you can be more precise with your steering input. I also rarely steer too much, like i do in 200 mode when i am using more than 200 degrees. Highspeed driving in richard burns rally feels easier with 360-540 degrees of steering than 200 degrees.

no. i don't have the dfp. i just herd in nother post that the wheel started to shake alot while they were playing. but the main reason why i'm asking is because i don't know if i should get the driving force or the dfp. i know dfp is better but is it that big of a differnce. thanx for the first reply 👍

well, for some PC games, if i set the force feedback really high in 200 mode, the wheel shakes like crazy because the force feedback is really powerfull. When i drive over rumble strips, my whole desk shakes :) The Driving force pro is a much better wheel. It feels better, the force feedback is more detailed, and it can turn up to 900 degrees lock to lock.

I get that problem every now and then, too, and everytime it's happened, simply unplugging and plugging back in the wheel fixed the problem. My guess is that it's probably a problem with the wheel and not GT3, so it may occur with GT4 also.

I heard that the amount you have to turn the wheel for the tires to turn is different for each car in GT4. the other stuff i have no idea about because i dont own the game. :indiff:

my bro cant switch on 900 degrees steering mode...

pressing select+R3+right paddle the led blinks weakly and a centering jerk is felt but the mode doesn't change. Is this supposed to work anytime in the game?

However the select+R3+left paddle works, switch FF from 60 to 100 and back...

whats the problem?

I read the entire topic.....( maybe i've missed it) But has anyone actually used
the wheel on GT4 ( not prologue )????

What are you impressions.....????
Is it better to steer than in prologue ( i think it's kind of hard...but fun :) )

Regards,
Frenk

Gabkicks
yup, its supposed to work at any time. At least for every game i've played it does.

Sucks.. I think the wheel's jammed into 180 degree mode... it cant change mode no matter how many times i pressed.

Anyone there with GT4 and the DFP by any chance???

cos i want to know if it is easier to drift with the DFP or not. Any help here would be greatfully appreciated cos i wondering whether to get one or not.

thanx
