I'm pretty afraid of posting this question, I want to buy DFP too so......
Is there anyone :scared: that :scared: DOESN'T :scared: like :scared: :scared: the DFP?? If you have the DFP!! and you don't like it........ :scared: tell me about it, I don't wanna waist 149 euro's :scared: :scared:

well, in another thread someone posted that it is much easier to break traction with the Driving force Pro than with the DS2. I'm guessing because you have to turn a wheel to countersteer, innitiating the drifts probably easier. And if the FFB is any good, which it should be, drifting should feel more realistic than gt3, i dunno about easier. i hope its harder. :)

It isn't harder, just different. If you can drive a car in real life, you can use the DFP. It's just like anything else, it just takes some time getting used to it, and once you do, it feels much more natural, and you're able to touche the limit of the car more consistently with the wheel, there is much more control.

I'm using the DFP wheel for one week know and I'm never gonna use the DS2 again....because:

It's much more realistisc...
You've got an amazing sense of speed...
Because of the awesome forcefeedback....
Can't imagine using the ds2 again...

To my dutch 'brother' GT4-fan I would like to say: Check google for lower prices...
I've seen prices for about 130 euro's.
You also might like to buy my Logitech Driving Force wheel ( not pro ).
It is in a fine condition and only costs 45 euro's :)

yup, most games detect 2 devices. like Live for speed, richard burns rally, Toca Pro race Driver 2, GTR, nascar sim racing, blah blah... :) The game im having the most fun using clutch with is LFS sofar. I wish NFSU2 had manual clutch. :indiff:

Talloniv:

I also have the Logitech DF (not pro), and it 's been a long time now since I stopped using the DS2 to play GT3, GTC and GT4:P. But ... is the upgrade from DF to DFP worth the 150 euros?

If I didn't have the DF wheel, there's no doubt I would buy the DFP. But to spend 150 euros just to buy another wheel, that will be only reasonable if the new wheel is MUCH BETTER than the old one.

So, what do you say? Is it?

I also think its better....better...but harder :)
After one week I already can't imagine playing GT4 without.....does that answer you question :) ?

I was a diehard DS2 user since GT2 and thought that I would continue to play using the controller. Not only that but I could never master the manual transmission with the controller and always favored the third person view. Well, when I recently played GT4 Prologue using the DFP it really got me thinking about purchasing. I couldn't stop thinking about it! So, I bought the DFP last night and immediately fired up GT3. Oh mama!! I was totally unprepared for the sheer excitement that the driving experience became.

After some initial practice laps getting up to speed with the steering ratio and setting my shifters to paddle mode (I still favor the 200 degree steering ratio) I was quickly setting some fast laps. Now the first person perspective is my default view. The physical experience of literally wrestling with the car to turn in, fight the oversteer or understeer. And probably the most welcome feature is the throttle. I love the fact that I can now throttle steer, something I could never do with that damned X button! The steering has an amazingly realistic weight at 100% feedback and after a few laps at Cote d'Azur in the F/094 I was shattering my old lap times by 4 seconds!

In fact, one of the most annoying problems with the dual shock with the F1 cars was the weird lift-off tire chatter at the hairpin. Guess what, it's been totally alleviated! Years of frustration and hairpulling melted away in minutes! Maybe now I can finally finish up those last few F1 races. 👍

Oh mama!!

A agree. I've always used the analog sticks with GT games but I was about halfway through getting all license test golds (in GT3), and wasn't sure if I could get many more. I got my DFP set up over the weekend, and after a few hours of goofing around in Free Run I pulled in eight (8) more golds in two hours last night! Unbelievable. I also found that rallying is much more enjoyable - when I lose a drift and spin, it feels like it happened because I made a mistake, not because I was using a compromised controller.

Same here...A very weird experience for me was using the first person view...
I've never used it in GT3 because it didn't seem right with the DS2...plus I loved to see those beautiful shiny cars :).....
Now...I can't imagine playing not in first person....the speed is totally awesome!!!
I'm very eager to know how the DFP reacts with GT4....In prologue the wheel seems to have a little time before it reacts...Or maybe it's just my imagination?

Anyone with experience on using the wheel on GT4?

Regards en sorry for my bad English ( european ya know )

HEY GUYS!!....I have a major problem..

After playing for a few days on 900 degree mode , it doesn't seem to work anymore (the 900 degree mode) I had tried a universal adaptor for the wheel but I fear something may have gone wrong because of it
Everytime I start the game with the wheel plugged in, it starts up in 200 Degree mode, I've tried everything I can think of so far,
I also plugged it into my PC and tried to manually enter 900 Degree mode, though it gave a slight jerk, it didn't work, it was just one of the lights that remained lit,

A friend of mine brought his wheel as well and its the same issue,

I know using a universal adaptor was a risky idea but if anyone has any suggestions as to how to rectify this problem , it'd be greatly appreciated.

What the hell is a universal adapter? The wheel is already USB... which is as universal as you get.

the power adapter is universal....we had to get one cause the friend of mine lost his..
the force feedback wasnt coming ,so I check wether the universal adapter was working on mine (which it wasnt !!) then after that, both our wheels could not switch to 900 degree mode :(....
whereas the force feedback is working fine, but we couldnt even do the "select+R3+right paddle" for manual switching

is it the universal adaptor which screwed up the ?!!... plz help

Someone please? Can you put european mems, cons and wheels on a Japanese PS2?

I've got a Japanese gamecube and that works out...
So I guess a Japanese ps2 als should do the trick...

In my opninion the only thing you have to get yo make it work is a stepdownconvertor.

btw: I received my copy of GT4 today and I'm gonna check it with the wheel rigt now!!! Bye, bye...social life :)

Lots of fun, I have to wait a few mote (hard) days at work.

BTW: stepdownconverter?

I´m so happy !

After two weeks of practicing i have finally beaten my best controller time (6:59:420) with the Falken at the Nurbring with my new DFP and my Gamechopper !

Only one Month ago i have written in this forum that it´s impossible to drive the same lap times with a wheel, because of the reaction time and then i played the demo with my pals DFP.

5 days later i had my own dfp and my fabulous gamechopper and now i just managed a 6:58:794 with it.

Now i´m satisfied !

Sorry...I assumed you lived in Europe.
We have 220 v here. Japan is 110 v.
Also in the US 110 V I think...

So maybe it's not needed :)

First Impressions DFP on GT4: awesome and much easier than Prologue....but Rally cars are more difficult to control imho.

Great! I thought the same thing until I got a wheel 2 1/2 years ago. I'm way faster with my wheel than I was a DS2.

Sorry if it's been asked already, but I don't feel like reading through 47 pages right now, does it work with Gran Turismo 2?

well, i dont think PS1 games detect USB controllers. it could though. but it doesnt detect for ridge racer, and a few other racing games for PS1, i never tried gran turismo 2 before...

Anyone know how to get 900 mode working correctly with NFSU2?
