Dammit man, make your own.

Surely you must know someone who can weld?

I have a DFP (Which is by far and away the best toy i ever bought) and i have built my own race seat, and the most important thing about it, without a shadow of a doubt is the comfiness.

You are going to sit in that thing for hours at a time when you get it, cos you will love it to death!
So you need to make sure it is comfortable!
MOST IMPORTANT thing.

I used the passenger seat from a mark 5 escort, which isnt my first choice, i would have preferred a mondeo or sierra (made for long journeys) but it was the best quality from the scrap yard on the day, and i wasnt going to wait, and i love it.

It still would have given me rheumatism though, had i not have gotten the seating position just right.

It has to be comfortable, and sturdy, but comfy first!

No I do not know a welder. I have the money so I think I will order one, if it isnt comfy I will use a cusion behind my back! Cheers thou

Unfortunately, that statement requires someone to have the necessary know how on putting the race simulator/cockpit together, having the necessary tools to do the job right & then to top it off, having enough room/space to do all the work....

Therefore, if someone happens to be in a situation like this, the only real solution is go the aftermarket route and buy one instead of building one...as was the case in point back for me back in July of last year when I was just started researching the possibility of building my own. I soon realized that I didn't have any of the tools, skills or space to tackle such a job...hence I took the more logical & sensible route and bought a BRD Race Frame Pro and I've yet to regret making such a purchase! :)

Whats your review of it so far? Did you try it fully tuned with prologue and the GT4 DEMO?

when you start up the game the DFP starts turning and callibrates itself, its also very noisy ;)

its very different from any controller ive ever used, its very realistic and responsive, the 900deg. is cool, the wheel feels tight until you spin out then it loosens up and spins faster just like if you lost controll of your car in real life 👍

i ran it at NURBURGRING and you feel bumps in the road that you cant even see, and sometimes you have to hold the wheel very firmly to keep it straight because of the FORCE FEEDBACK, you can even feel the RUMBLE STRIPS on the side of the track red/white/red/white its like you hit each color indevidually.

i also played GT3 with it and i was more impressed with it although it only has 200deg. it was like playing for the first time because you have to learn how to drive again, im actually excited to play GT3 again !!! after beating it several times its like a totally different game again, and i think i will use GT3 to practice for GT4 :)

i will post more when i get more time behind the wheel 👍

in watching the video's with the little kid i noticed a really annoying rubbing sound. are they all like that? i would hate that thing if it made that noise all fricken day and night. when i played the gt4 demo at the detroit autoshow a few weeks ago i didn't notice any noise like that.

in GT4, what does GTFP Power Assist means? i tried on and off but felt no difference...where this difference is?

Yes it does make a slight whirring noise as the gears and motor all are directly connected to the FF wheel mechanism. I was taken by surpise at the noise at first too, but after the initial period of getting adjusted to the wheel in-game, I hardly noticed it at all afterwards. If you're TV is turned up loud enough, the entire immersive effect will take over and the last thing you'll be thinking about it the wheel noise.

Although, the shifter clicks every time you shift, it's not too loud either, I just wish Logitech made the shifter heavier, or at least a little stiffer, as I jab the hell out of it in Tahiti Maze.

One more question for GT4 Chinese version: In the steering settings menu, where Active Steering is, which symbol means ON and which OFF? Higher - ON, Lower - OFF or vice versa?

Thank you

How well does the DFP work with the Logitech lap attachment?? Is it too hard on your legs??

I can't find a lap attachment, so I put a small throw pillow under it and put it on my lap. It works for the most part, but when 900 degree steering comes around I'm going to have to find something sturdier.

Anybody body know of a online shop that has refurbished DFP in stock? I checked ICT and justdeals.com. I put GT4 on preorder, #2 spot on the list 👍 and need the wheel sooo bad.

Is it just me or is the wheel damn hard to use? I don't feel connected at all and I keep crashing and spinning out. I drive a 300hp wrx in real life and this doesn't feel real at all. I can sustain drifts with my DS2 but the wheel is just weird.

ok I got my wheel today, I plugged it into the usb port, and plugged the pedals into the wheel, and the wheel lights up, but it's not doing anything. None of the buttons appear to be doing anything at all. The controllers work, but the wheel does nothing...

Its a £100 plastic wheel for god sake, not a 25 grand Subaru... Just practice, its much more fun and rewarding than using a DS2, just takes a while to get used too.

Looks like I got shafted on ebay. It was supposed to be brand new, but I guess it isn't. It's missing the power supply, AND the manual... UGH. The box was all taped sloppy, but I figured that was to help it while shipping, and when I opened it, everything looked new, but i can tell now that theres a few small scratches on the wheel, and it's missing the two parts :( Is there any way I can order a PSU seperately!? :(

Well, it happens with some games with me, so try this: DON'T touch the Dual Shock if it's in the same port than the wheel (pad in port 1, wheel in upper USB port), so wait the wheel to stop checking its status and use the wheel buttons to move through the game title.

Hope it helped u :sly:

Perhaps someone knows what kind of power adapter it uses, so I can just get one locally and skip all the hassle on returning it, and whatnot.

The wheel buttons don't do anything either, i'm guessing it's because it's missing the power adapter.

You're right, after a couple of laps it's starting to feel better. I'm still better with DS2 but hope that's to change soon.

So does anyone know what size PSU i'd need to buy to get my wheel working? I tried my 9V Power Adapter from one of my guitar pedals, but it didn't work...

EEeeeeek! You're not using a power adapter? xD

Ok ok i'm going to see what power adapter does it use... but though it's the Spanish version (~AC 220V 50Hz), so I dunno if it will work for you, I dunno where you live...

tic tac... tic tac...

I'm back :dopey: Here are the spec of my power adapter:

Logitech AC adapter
Model: ADP-18LB C
Input: AC 200-240V ~ 0.4A
Output: 24V CC 0.75A
LPS: 50-60Hz

Well, I hope it will work 👍

Yeah, the seller I got it from on ebay claimed it was brand new, but it was opened, and didn't include a power supply
