if u feel that something is not tight inside the wheel when u turn it, it may be the FF motor, the screws that keep the motor in place are loose, u need to screw them back. I did that on my MOMO Force and Force GP after a month of playing, and glued them also. If u find this afterwork disturbing, u'll have to get used to wobble, I don't understand why Logitech isn't most secure here.

The DFP uses a ball bearing on the wheel axis as MOMO Force does, so it's much more fluid and soft at turning, better FF etc. The old DF sucks at this. So DFP is a much better wheel, gotta get one soon. :)

dont know if its been posted, but amazon has the DFP for $105 shipped, and logitech has a $20 mail in rebate when you buy the DFP and GT4

so total, $85 for the wheel + 45-50 for the game, not a bad deal

Does anyone else get this with their DFP?

I was playing GT3 on 100% FF and on 200 degree mode. While I was playing I noticed the right LED light was sort of flashing. I was not playing in 900 degree mode. The right LED light was flickering. It was not flashing very brightly, but I was playing in a room with very little lighting(it was dark), and you had to lokk closely to see the flickering. It looked sort of like a light bulb that is about to fuse. The performance of the DFP was normal. But this right LED light flashing is bothering me.

Can someone please help? It is not a very serious problem, but I am still worried.

Thank you.

I am getting the exact same thing.

I don't think its a problem, seems to be working just fine.

Hello all, new member here but a long time fan of the GT series. I want to know if there are any other wheel systems on the market besides DFP for GT4? I've had a Logitech wingman formula wheel for my PC since 1999 & still works great. (black & yellow w/o force feedback) I just want to know what my other options are.

Thanks

I get flickering as well. No big deal, I only notice it when I am playing GT3 at night when I'm supposed to be sleeping. Some of my best laps have been posted at 2 o'clock in the morning!

Here's another question about the DFP. Is there any way to get it to work with games that don't support force feedback? I was wondering if the motor could be used to get a "spring" effect like on the menus in GT3. I want to play Crazy Taxi with the DFP, but I can't figure out how.

WJHMH.....it would behoove you to wait for the Speed 7 FF wheel from BRD. This wheel is going to absolutely OWN the Driving Force Pro wheel(or any other FF wheel for that matter) on so many levels! Check out the desription and some rough sketches *HERE*, and some more detailed info *HERE*.

And before anyone asks, yes this wheel is going to be compatible with the PS2.

Oh and there is also a pretty good thread discussing the wheel *HERE*

And lastly, NO I do not work for BRD. Im just a fan of their work and what they stand for :)

the speed7 steering wheel will NOT be compatible with the PS2

The speed7 pedals are not compatible with the PS2. The speed7 steering wheel will be hooked up the the speed7 pedals. There is (what BRD calls) an interface box (USB) which is connected between the pedals (and in the future, the speed7 steering wheel) and the PC. The software, which is responsible for calibrating the speed7 pedal ?and speed7 steering wheel? in windows, is situated in the pedals AND the"interface box". And like I said, the speed7 steering wheel will be connected to the pedals which will be connected to the interface box.

Unless you know more about the speed7 hardware, in that case you will probably be right. In that case I apologize for posting the wrong info and this post must be ignored!!!!! But right now, I am 100% sure that it will not be compatible.
PS2 data is too raw to be used with the speed7 (pedals and steering wheel). Sony won't give the right data to BRD, so BRD can't develop the right software for the speed7 to be used with the PS2.

this is what BRD wrote: http://www.interactiveracing.com/Pedals/Speed7/ . Read the third paragraph below the second set of picture under electronics

The interface box is a small box that sits between the pedal unit and the PC and is where the USB conversion takes place. It is a second brain that further enhances the data before it goes to the main PC. All the data processing work is done in the pedal unit and interface box meaning the USB data passed to the PC is pure and minimised ensuring maximum data transfer rates and clarity of data. It also provides us with the ability in future to interface with other platforms, such as Playstation2 and X-Box and everything else that might come along because the data processing is done in our hardware. This is truly ‘smart’ hardware.

When I bought the speed7 I asked if the pedals are compatible with the PS2. They said: NO!!!! Maybe in the future!!!! And also the speed7 steering wheel will NOT be compatibel with the PS2: that is what I have been told.

Well, looks like I've been owned BIG TIME

Thanks for the clarification. When I talked to Simon about 8 months or so ago, he told me they were gunning to make the new S7 wheel work with the PS2. Looks like they must've ran into problems :(

I'm still confident that some sort of custom mod will be able to be done between the Driving Force Pro and the new BRD S7 that will allow the PS2 to "see" the S7 as a DFP wheel. Regardless, I'll be buying a S7 wheel as soon as it comes out in July. I know it's going to murder anything Logitech puts out.

Just curious kikie, will you be boycotting the S7 wheel because of lack of PS2 compatibility?

I just read a review of GT4 from firingsquad.com, and they said sony went out of their way to make the Momo wheel incompatible with GT4. They did it because sony wanted its cut of the officially licensed DFP wheel. That is a strike against Sony, but I guess I really don't care since I already own a DFP and I will own GT4 in about 14 hours. Just thought you all might like to know at least 1 thing they were working on while they delayed the game release.

No, ofcourse not!!! I am also very, very interested in the speed7 wheel!!! :) 👍

I've got the speed7 pedal unit for almost a year now and it is an incredible piece of hardware. I hope BRD will make it compatible with the PS2. I can't compare the s7 wheel with the DFP because I haven't been able to try the s7 wheel (I am also waiting for the release of the s7 wheel). So I don't know if the s7 wheel will be better than the DFP, we will have to wait and see, won't we now!! Logic dictates that it will be much better (professional, with very good materials) 👍 👍

I don't owe you. Like I told you that there is a change that I am wrong and you are right and then you will owe me, lol. :scared: :ouch:

If they told you that they are going to make the s7 compatible with the PS2, then they will. I don't see that is possible because you need to connect the s7 wheel directly to the s7 pedal unit and the pedal unit is not compatible. I hope you are right though. There is 1 thing that is bodering me about the s7 wheel. Hope you will know more about it. The LCD screen on the advanced model, will it be attached to the wheel and will it turn around with the wheel (which is not good) or will it be attached to the steering column (which is good)????

isamu, do you have the speed7 pedals???? (Hope y'all understand my English. It is not my native language)

crxdriver is right though. The s7 is very expensive and must be much, much better than the DFP before I'll spend all that money on a wheel!!!

crxdriver
Everyone's talking about S7 owning a DFP, and noone says that S7 will cost around 15 times more :D
yup, thats what i was trying to point out before. :dopey: . I dropped 150 bucks on a damn steering wheel for games. Anyone who spends more than that on something thats not for an actual car is either profiting from it somehow, rich, or stupid/crazy.

I saw it too on my DFP. I read somewhere that it is absolutley no problem. It means that you are in 200° mode and not in 900°and the game in NOT compatible with 900° mode (or something like that).

just bought the logitech wheel. Did some research and found it for 105 and free shipping at amazon. Here is a link to check it out? Anyone else get it for cheaper?

Hmmm.... i just read down the info on the link you posted, and got to the words "wireless conection between the wheel and its hub" and i stopped.

Wireless isnt reliable enuff for me.
im in division 2 of the weekly race series you know, rep to protect!

I deal in wireless technology day in day out, i dont think its a good idea to incorporate it into a wheel design at all.
Not trust worthy enuff for my liking.

Just my opinion.

dont know if its been posted, but amazon has the DFP for $105 shipped, >>>and logitech has a $20 mail in rebate when you buy the DFP and GT4<<<

so total, $85 for the wheel + 45-50 for the game, not a bad deal

Can you please clear the "in rebate" part, I don't really know what "in rebate" means in English??
I presume you mean it's some kind of action that you can get $20 of the price if you buy this as a set, am I right?????
And if so, how does the action REALLY work then, I'd like to know the details please??

thats usually how a rebate works. Should get 20 bucks back in the mail or something after u send in receipt and upc. Check out the link i posted before. I can' tseem to find a better price

can some one with a dfp tell me when u turn it onto 900 degree mode but the car will only turn with in 180 degress will it look the wheel at 90 degrees eachway or will it keep going 450 degrees each way un locked

And how does that work?? Is it like that you purchase GT4+DFP at amazon.com and then somehow Logitech knows I've got that DFP and send me $20 note wich says I have $20 off something if I buy another thing at logitech, or do they post a check with money your freely to spend on wathever you want???

Don't quote me on this one but usually if there is a rebate, the rebate will be sent with the package. From there you follow the steps and mail in everything you need to get the rebate. SO technically it should come with the amazon shipment. But even without the rebate, amazon has it for the cheapest price since most stores are selling it for around 150.
