Sorry for the slighlty OT question, but does anyone know if the driving force (pro) is compatable with the PS2 version of crazy taxi? I've had the wheel (DFP) for a few days now and have just completed all golds on my b licence in gt4. I had to drop to 200 degree mode for the rally tests though. So far I really like it.

gm jsut a question for all those who have had a dfp for a while
ive had mine for about a month
and im wondering how durable this thing is (thank you logitehc for the 1 ~3 year ewarranty or wahtever) :D
im wonderin if this wheel wears down quite fast or not? like if the force feedback motor or wheel goes a lil bit ove ra period of itme

I like how it's all rusty and stuff.

Well, it was going to be painted that day but we ran outta time, the Australian GP was about to come on... now it'll prolly take awhile before it gets the black paint on it...

Thanks Hemmo, but unfortunately logitech wont sent the playseat to Australia... I'm so desperate to get one but cant find a simgle way to get one here! This is rediculous in the age of the internet to not be able to get one sent to Australia!

Thanks for the link. I figure I'll just end up building my own eventually, much like hellnback did - which is what you should do simon. If you can't do it, I'm sure some garage would for a decent price. It's not that complicated or intensive, as far as parts or labor go, as long as you can access a welder/somebody who can use it. Just find a car seat you like in a junkyard or somthing, have some pics of the Playseat one, visit some small establishments that do any type of welding, and go from there. :)

Neo - your durability question I can't answer, but I can vouch for Logitech's honor of their warranties. Me and many buddies have had different PC peripherals fail, (mainly joysticks), and most of the time got new ones sent without even sending our old ones back. 👍 (I also got MS to do such with my Feedback2 stick, which just had a faulty USB cord. I replaced it and now have two great MS FF2 sticks :) )

My DFP goes full-lock only when I've spinned out and try to turn right way, even then full-lock isn't needed if you don't want. But when I'm racing it never goes to full-lock.

I imagine it'd be like in a real car.. (my real car's 900 degrees, or 2.5 turns, lock to lock) You go full lock anytime other than turning around, you're heavily overcorrecting and gonna wind up off the road. Outside of maybe rally/snow & ice, I doubt you'd ever go near lock in a "driving" situation, if then. Again, not words from a DFP owner, just a driver. 👍

Makes sense. I doubt you'd ever go full lock except to try to correct a very bad mistake. I never go full lock when auto-xing, so don't see why you would in the game.

Yeah.. The thing about turning the wheel that far is that it's daaaang far, lol. By the time you hit lock, it's generally gonna take too long to get back to a useable steering range, the mass is shifted into motion, and the vehical will already be on its' way into a slide in the opposite direction...then you overcorrect the other way again and the dance ensues until you're in the ditch. 👎 The trick in those situations is to be ahead of the suspension and mass shifts, and to cut down on how much you correct. Knowing this before getting into that heavy slide will help keep you from getting into more trouble, though typical instict is to just saw on that wheel. I did think of a time when I hit full lock and come back - when doing the ice capade finals in open, winter, parking lots. :P (this is all pertaining to real driving and likely GT4. I'd bet it'd be easier to pull off full lock stuff in GT3, where things didn't get as outta whack as quickly. it still applies there, just on a different scale.)

For anyone in the UK (like me), if you are looking to buy a DFP, I suggest buying it from here as its the cheapest I could find it... http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=75536

Also if you want a USB pen drive thing for Photomode, check out... http://www.aria.co.uk/DealForToday.asp and about quarter of the way down is "Arianet USB 2 Pen Drive 128 MB " for only £9 (WARNING: Delivery not cheap on Aria)

Hope this helps some of you, if this has already been answered with cheaper places to buy from in the UK, then please tell me about it :)

I've just ordered the USB pen drive from aria.co.uk for £7.50 + VAT (and £2.99 delivery). Also you can add a pack of 4 AAA batteries for 1p. The batteries aren't worth getting on their own though because of the postage, but if you are buying something anyway it shouldn't add any extra postage costs:

USB 128 MB Pen Drive = £12.33 including VAT and delivery
If I add the 4 batteries it comes to £12.34 including VAT and delivery

Bargain!!

So has anyone else had problems in courses with large numbers of haripins with the DFP not coming back to center? Halfway though a race the wheel is centered at like half **** which makes shifting interesting. In one race I had to shift with the oposite buttons:)

Habit the momo I used to have had a stationary paddles system that was awesome. I actually find the little buttons near useless and the 900 deg stuff quite frustrating. 900 deg is full lock for a street car but most race cars are much less (a f1 car is like 200 lock to lock). Oh and you have to take your hands off the wheel to use the stick:)
So I guess my question is still is everyone else having their wheel drift out of center? Why can't you center the thing without unplugging and plugging it like GT3 used to. As said before for ice and dirt the damm DS2 is actually better than the DFP but for the nordschlaffe the DFP is quite nice.

Hey guys, last few days my brake pedal would stick half through a race. It won't go away unless I reset my PS2. So I called Logitech just now and talked to a tech. He told me that there have been a bunch of problems with GT4 so they won't do anything for me because I don't have another driving game to test it on. Has anyone else had this problem at all??? I'm gonna borrow Gt3 from my buddy to test it on tomorrow. I'm a little pissed off that the guy wouldn't do anything for me, cause its been getting worse and I couldn't see the game really being the problem.

F1 cars have paddle shifters. So do some other performance cars.

So, I love the DFP but.......
I am having alot of trouble with it on certain tracks/ with certain cars... :( And forget about rallying it!
I raced the ring earlier with an 03 M3 csl was a 1 lap race and it was only a 55 point race so you know i should be able to KILL the competition right? wrong! I was barely staying in front of a VW GTI...lmao The AMG 320(or is it 230??) was killin me as was the other M3 on the track.... 3 1/2 tries with the wheel and still no win...👎
I get frustrated and grab the DS2... I put over 20 seconds on the other cars for the win (The wheel is still way more fun )

I did'nt read through all the posts in this thread but anyone else havin simular issues?...lol

I'm full of bollocks, ignore me. I'm cranky waiting for GT4

I need to get 1 cuz Im starting to get carpal tunnel . But I just need to know If its worth the 150.

Hey all! I'm a new member, and I'm proud to make my first post here at GTPLanet.net. :)

rico13, I just got my steering wheel today. I got it from eBay for $125 shipped, but I'm sure you could probably find it shipper, I was just ina hurry to get it. It's definately recommneded. IMO, the feeling of this game isn't really complete without it.

...behold to the power of the force...even your parent will get hooked on it...lol...my Dad tried it and did 9 laps on ElCapitan...lol...he was hooked! :sly:

see what I meant...

rico13,

The wheel is a great purchase at $150, but its even better if you find it cheaper. Newegg.com has DFPs for 109.99. I purchased my DFP from bestbuy.com for $127 and picked it up at one of their stores.

It takes some getting used to, but it takes playing GT4 to another level.

I agree 100% with what you just said...lol I paid the same price also...
I just get mad cause i cant *catch* the car like i can with the DS2. I just wish I could countersteer as quick with the DFP as I can in my Mustang..lol then it would be all good! :D
