The guy was me and I said I like it. Why would I say I like crap?

Sorry man. It's just I wanted the DFP but could not afford it for a long time. So i managed to get the NON PRO Driving Force for $90 Australian. And I wasen't sure if it is just as good as the Pro, For lap times and steering I meant to.

Well I just have the DF not the DFP, so I can't say it's just as good as the DFP for lap times, but it's good. I'm sure 900 degree mode could be useful, but I think if you practice you can get about the same lap times out of a DS2, DF, or DFP. If you already have the DF, you should know it's not bad.

I get the DF tomorrow with my copy of GT4. I hope it was worth the money as My girlfriend and I were broke but we scrapped up enough. JUST!!!

I think you'll like it. Better than using a ds2.

Thanks...

With the DFP the 900 Degree rotation is a bit to much I think. To far to over correct if you make a mistake. However you can change it to 200 Degree.

Now I gotta work out a way to keep the Wheel and pedals from moving when I am racing.

Thought I'd give my 2 cents on the DFP ...

Ever since I got 97.1% on GT4 (JP Version) I started to kind of get bored with it. Until today -- the DFP I ordered came in and I've been playing non-stop. It's been said over and over but the wheel is definately worth the price and the game is so much more enjoyable. Learning curve is minimal as well so getting use to it is very quick. After about a couple hours of play, I wanted to see how well I was driving on the DFP, so I re-did the S-16 test which I had previously gotten gold by about 3 seconds with the DS2. Using the DFP, I got gold by 7 seconds. IMO, once you get the hang of the wheel, you'll never go back to the DS2 :D

Here's my little setup I threw together real quick.

Don't mind the masking tape  ... Had to secure the bottom part temporarily since the wheel shakes a lot. I'll probably make some sort of bracket although the tape works well :D

I have been around near enough every computer releated shop near to where I live and no one is selling the DFP. Also many online retailers are out of stock. This is so frustrating, I really want to play GT4 with this wheel. Anyone got any ideas of any shops that sell them? I cannot be bothered to order it online it just takes too long to deliever.

Thanks.

I've just ordered the USB pen drive from aria.co.uk for £7.50 + VAT (and £2.99 delivery). Also you can add a pack of 4 AAA batteries for 1p. The batteries aren't worth getting on their own though because of the postage, but if you are buying something anyway it shouldn't add any extra postage costs:

USB 128 MB Pen Drive = £12.33 including VAT and delivery
If I add the 4 batteries it comes to £12.34 including VAT and delivery

Bargain!!

Cool, glad to see someone took my advice! I got mine yesterday (along with PAL GT4) and its pretty cool. It works with GT4, it has a USB extender cable and a thing to carry it around your neck with. But with my pictures, when I put them on my PC they seem....blotchy. Take a look: Piccy

I really like the DFP, and the fact that you can 'map' various buttons to various functions comes in quite handy. I assigned gas to the -Shift (the knob) specifically while going for Gold on License Test IA-16. As a middle aged man, my leg got tired keeping it floored for that long straightaway and it was much easier to keep max speed while pushing forward on the shifter. I kept losing time on the distant left hand turn, and assigning gas to the shift knob made that long straight somewhat less taxing.

I don't know about blotchy but definitely dark. Use the settings in photo mode to get the picture brighter. Usually then it's still too dark, so use something like photoshop to add more light.

How are your pedals setup? I didn't think it was taxing for anyone to push a pedal down. Maybe think about setting your pedals up different or seeing a doctor about your leg.

Yeah that was only the 2nd pic I done so I didnt really understand everything, I am better at it now lol. Can you not see how blotchy it is? When I look at other peoples they look really high quality, but mine never seem to be. I can post some more if you want to see

That sounds like a medical situation to me. My leg gets tired to, but that's after 1 or so hours of playing. Just like my legs get tired after 1 or more hours of real driving.

I'd get that checked out bud. I wouldn't put the gas on the stick. Because that means you can only have one hand one the wheel and you simply cannot be as precise with one hand as you can with two. That's probably why you're loosing speed on that left hander.

Make sure your options are set to super fine for pictures. The rest is how you compose the shot. You pen drive could be doing something to the pics, but not likely.

Yeah it is on super fine. Ive tried lots of different settings but havent seen any difference. It is a cheap pen drive so it might be that. Ill try it on my cousins to see if there is any difference. Thanks anyway

EDIT: I just noticed something, the option of saving to memory card was only set to Normal. I have set it to Super Fine now and.....yeah its much better now lol. Sorry about that guys :scared:

I have poor circulation in both legs and I am taking medication for it....contemplating the next step....surgery.
As far as the gas on the stick goes, the beauty of the DFP is that near the end of the straight I just use the pedals....just let go of the stick and drive normally. It still took me a long time to find the proper braking point and throttle control for that left hander....with both hands on the wheel.

Are you driving automatic then?

I only did what I described above for this one test....IA-16. I have heard of, but have not yet seen, the test course in GT4. If it is as long and boring as the one in GT3, I will probably do this there as well.

To this point in my GT4 career, I have mainly done just the license tests....some on manual, most on automatic. As well as I remember, I believe that you can still use the manual transmission with the paddles behind the wheel, even if the knob has been assigned to some other function. I'll check on this tonight.

Off Topic: Is it just me, or does this site seem to be running real slow at the present time. I tried to submit some posts and the following message pops up:

I should have known better. I got a logitech DF wheel from Blockbuster used for like $15 in like oct. I never even tried it until this morning. Man this this makes the game so much more fun!! I have used wheels on PC sims for years, i don't know why i didn't know if i'd like it on the ps2. I guess its because i had tried some old crappy wheels for ps2 before.

I just want to let anyone know that doesn't have a wheel or the money for a DF-Pro, get a DF. I think brand new they are like $50 or $60. it is way worth it. I am just getting used to the tracks again. It makes it like a whole new game. I had always used a DS2 controller with an automatic transmission. Now i drive manual, and its alot more fun.

I recommend getting a wheel!! I don't know about a DF-Pro, but for the cost difference I can't imagine it being worth $75 difference. Although, i am sure its nice if you can afford it.

Hi all, i did try to read most of this thread but i didnt find what i was looking for so here goes: i recently bought GT4 and have the driving force pro wheel, everything works great but when i go into 200 degree mode the steering becomes super sensitive :guilty: and pretty much unplayable :indiff:

Does anyone know how to make the sensitivity go down in 200 degree mode? I looked on the options but found nothing.

Driving assist, is there much of a difference between simulation and professional? Because on gt3, professional just effectively meant that you could actually get full lock(and thus countersteer) when the tail stepped out.

Is this the case in GT4?I havnt really had long enough to know whether the hard countersteering is part of the physics, or just hindered by simulation mode for steering assist?

Any help much appreciated

No, as far as I know. Just play it in 900 degrees as it's meant to be.

yea i dont mind 900 degree mode, guess it will take getting use to + a strong sturdy table :)

For a table I just use a TV dinner table. Yeah, I know, it looks really flimsy, but it only shakes a little bit. It works pretty well for me.

Although I would like an extremely sturdy table, I don't mind using what I have now.

I think so. I use simulation and have found myself with the wheel turned all the way but the game not interpreting it as full lock.

I'm pretty sure There is no difference between pro or sim mode when using the DFP. At least I cant tell the difference. If i remember correctly, PD said those amateur, pro and sim settings only apply to the old driving force. 👍
