I too hope this thread continues, but it'll need people excited about the game to maintain it for the next 11 days.

As I said earlier, I don't think we're sugar-coating the bits that might not be what we expected, rather I think this thread highlights the better bits we should be and are looking forward to.

The positive? - hmm where to even begin? I've been trying to think of the feature I've been anticipating the most. New physics engine? Head tracking? Hot laps on the Top Gear test track? - Nope it's when this 41 (and a half) year old is transformed into an excited giggling kid!

well i havnt really played anything but gran turismo 1. still have it right here (along with my old old old ps1 :D)

So all the new additions are fantastic. sure would be nice if they added weather to all tracks, day/night cycles to all tracks, every single car imaginable, and so on and so on..
but you gotta agree. they COULd add it. but it would just take more time to make the game. rather have GT5 now. and then they can spend couple of years making GT6 with all these "lacking" features. no doubt they will try :)

<3

It's nice, waking up to this thread.

I think I'm just going to stay in here for the next ten days.

Me too.

The Photo Mode does interest me, because I've read the pictures can be shared online and possibly transfered to a flash drive so they can be uploaded to the net by PC.

Top Gear Test Track!!!!
Snow/Rain + Night time racing!!!
Quality detailed interiors!!!
Course Creator!!!
WRC, Nascar and Go Karts!!!
Insane X1!!!
Car and Race Tuning!!
Loads of Track variations!!!
A stupid amount of cars!!!
Tones of events!!!
Online Racing!!!
Photo Mode!!

Whats not to like? Of course they would be smart to do DLC, as it would sell like hot cakes, but that then depends on their plans for GT6. Enjoy whats there!!

There's a possibility of a game update some time in the future to add some cars, or even tracks. They've done it before, haven't they?

Prologue had three updates that gave us new cars and such, but there's no reason to think that we'll be getting that for the full GT5. We can assume that they only did that for Prologue because GT5 took so long.

That being said, it WOULD be nice.

Also, I cannot wait to drive the LFA around all of these tracks, including many homemade tracks that nobody is counting. Apparently the entire worth of a track is based on it being popular, or having a popular name. 👎

Okey, good to see some other people feeling the same.
I've preordered the signature edition and the collectors edition (if I haven't money I would buy this), then my friend ordered standard edition. At the end i'll buy signature edition, my friend will get my collectors edition and we've persuaded another friend to buy the standar one.
So nobody looses 5€

Not going to argue here, because this isn't the thread for it. You have your thread HERE, I suggest you go there.

Well if you don't want to argue don't make a stupid comment.... if you haven't figured out why ppl like racing on "real life" world tracks in the virtual world... then you are seriously not a car enthusiast....

The positives (for me) is

It looks great, it sounds great,

I am going to spend most of my time doing time trials (not even racing) on Côte d’Azur with the fastest car I can get in each of the different classes (FF, 4WD etc).

I'll occasionally deviate to try Laguna Seca and Deep Forest perhaps a couple others, but I will stick to a select few - and try to get really good at them. (So it doent matter if there is only 30 tracks and only 200 premium cars).

I am looking forward to seeing the new tracks too such as the Top Gear track and...

I am also very glad that the split screen 2 player game is still there - for in house multiplayer challenges.

(Quite a few positives).

My families been going through some rough times the past few years

Racing games have always been something everyone understood, and when GT5 comes out I can bring them together around it...just like gt2 did years ago

Really, its more than a game...I cant wait to spend some time with my Dad and brother on this game, unlock cars, try cars, even if it only had 200 cars I would be fine..its really more than a game...the detail and physics, the feelings the art...

When I was a kid we had a Lamborghini Countach poster in our living room and my Dad had a white, 1985 Trans-Am...that was really the start

We all played Mario Kart when it came out, I still remember my mom moving the controller to try and move the kart, but there was something so elemental about mario kart that anyone could understand it

Then...every time a GT game came out we bought it, but since GT4 things have fallen apart a bit economically...to say the least..

but here comes GT5 to remind us of how things were...and what a "video game" can mean

I don't mind the track list (although I know there are surprises in store from Kaz) or even the car list (for the same reason) I just remember the feelings I got playing the other GT games, the feelings I got when a new video or screenshot came out for gt5, watching my parents reaction as I blasted the Red Bull "horse power" trailer for them...

Personally, the Bugatti not having an interior is a bit sad...but..I like seeing my cars when I race, and as long as I can take pictures of it and examine it in that way, im completely satisfied!

Gran Turismo has never and will never be a let down for me or anyone, I think we need to remember what this game means to us and be at ease.

Online racing alone changes everything.

So far I think the positives will out weigh the negatives any day. I’ve been an avid fan since GT2 came out. I’m a car guy, am I disappointed that a 1951 chopped and dropped Mercury isn’t in the game, no. Karting is one of the largest sports in the world, we have that. Nascar is the largest form of racing in the US, we have that. We’re missing F-1 because they want exclusiveness, but we get WRC! As far as missing cars are concerned PD is also given what the manufactures want as well. It’s McLaren’s decision to put the MP 4-25 in the game, it’s Audi’s decision to put the R-15 and R-15 Plus in the game. It’s Porche’s decision to want a ridiculous amount of money to feature their car in the game. It’s PD’s choice to put 87 skylines in the game because it is easier to get their hands on those as opposed to 5 generations of Holden’s.

We’ve got new tracks; enjoy them it’s a new challenge. I loved Midfield and Apricot Hill, New York was just a location. I don’t want to spend $60 on a ramped up version of GT-4. We’ve got a true rally track creator, a random track generated just like they do every year. As far as these “leaked copies,” marketing is everything and being in Motorsports and Marketing for 15 years, I can tell you that you don’t let all of the cars out of the garage before the track opens on the 24th.

Sony and PD will want the biggest buck for its bang, they would be stupid not make downloadable tracks or car packs. I know I would drop $20 a month for new tracks and new cars. They all knew what they were doing by moving the date to the 24th. The 26th is the biggest shopping day in the US, People will have 2 days to get the word out, friends will see friends play it on Thanksgiving and then hopefully in return buy it on Friday. It’s 3d, people are going to buy new tvs on Friday.

And finally; online play will make this game last 6 years easily especially if they give us new tracks and cars to buy. It’s almost time to sit down, strap in, and hang on.

It's not that I don't want to, it's that this isn't the place for it.

If you could read, you would understand that.

I am also very happy to hear that the in house 2 player split screen is still in. My dad and I have always challenged each other in Gran Turismo and Forza to see who has the better car. Cool to see that they didn't do away with this feature in lieu of online play.

While everyone is banging on about the track list I'll sit back and wait for it to be released.

I highly highly highly doubt that is the full list, why would Sony and PD give us a release date then basically show us everything in the game 10 ish days before release??

I'm very disappointed with the variety of tracks, and the cars aren't much better (40 different Nissan Skylines? Oh for the love of god...), but on the positive side:

I'm looking forward to seeing some of the GT4 tracks with vastly improved graphics. The cars too - I'm sure I'll have many hours of fun browsing through the dealerships, choosing paint colors, doing modifications, etc. And I'm looking forward to the driving physics and many, many laps around the 'ring.

To build up hype among potential buyers? Why would they want potential customers looking at the track list and thinking "well, that's nothing special" and dismissing the game.

Its pretty common for publishers/devs to release full track and car lists a couple of weeks prior to release.

Potential buyers are those who haven't seen enough of the previous iterations of the game to realize that this projected track-list is lacking. To them its all new and wonderful.

To fans, the track-list is a vehicle for hype amongst people who will buy the game anyway. It could just be what is available right when you boot up the game. To the doubters, PD 'lies', but in a good way. The brand new buyers will be doubly-appreciative, solidifying their interest. The other happy fuzzy little fans will be rewarded and maybe a little humbled.

Everybody wins and begins loving the game just as much in their own way.

irrc they do that every time the game is about to be released, I'll love to be proven wrong about the track list but it look finalized with no hidden tracks.

 • Over 27 unique tracks with over 70 layouts, each taking 2 years' worth of man hours to perfect, including the Top Gear Test Track.

 • A huge range of racing disciplines, including NASCAR, WRC, karting and F1.
 • Real-time deformation damage model.
 • Dynamic dirt accumulation on cars.
