I am suprised ISIS has not tried to claim responsibility for the downing of EgyptAir.

If they claimed to have done it they would have gotten the attention they crave.

SUGCC was once painted with graffiti which said, amongst other things, "we will bring this plane down". That's as close a link to terrorism as exists at the moment.

The death of the Taliban's leader, Mullah Mansour Akhtar, has been confirmed.

I'm amazed that the US managed to do so, there's only like one potato-quality photo of the guy in existence.

I do remember reading that ISIS is going to carry out some "frightening attacks" or campaigns related to that in US or in some of the European countries with home-grown terrorists during Ramadhan season, it's not going to look very good either way if the statements are true.
20 said killed at Orlando gay club. Could this be ISIS inspired?

50 US diplomats are urging the US government to start bombing Assad's forces because he is still bombing civilians and blocking off regions to the outside world.

What's that? Russia is on Assad's side?

Bad idea. They don't want to test how the expensive F-22 fighters evade S-400 Triumph missiles.

The State Department is in rebellion against the White House and Pentagon. The US is a house divided.

Saudi Arabia also wants to join in some more by arming the rebels so that they can kick Assad out with force.

With all the stuff they'd put in the air, along with the F-22 it wouldn't be an issue, also the F-22 is one of the few planes that is/would be allowed to fly in areas armed with them. It's really not as scary as made out to be.

Why knowledge of Islam is important in knowing that ISIS is in fact a religious movement first.

This is a Small sect of Islam but importantly is part of Islam, Whilst I doubt a single Muslim from this site is from this sect and is a very small percentage of Muslims in the world it still makes up numbers of over 4 million that are mostly in the Gulf states.

Wahhabism is the Strict Saudi Sect of Salafism

This sect is Anti-Rationalist, anti secularist, and is believes Fighting anyone who is a terrorist to it's ideals are justified killings.

Saudi Arabia Funds the teachings of Wahhabism all around the world, Making Wahhabi Mosques, and promoting the teachings.

Anyone who believes in the right to live in a Secular society this means Muslims, Christians, Atheists etc should be against this movement.

As it runs against your ability to believe, love, criticise and speak how you wish.

Escaped ISIS sex slave tells Congress of horrors

Iraqi and Syrian religious minorities," which President Barack Obama has repeatedly rejected. She also expressed her condolences for the attack in Orlando that left 49 dead but said she was not surprised it happened. "I knew if ISIS were not stopped, they would deliver their crimes everywhere," she told lawmakers. Speaking about the Middle East's Christians, Yazidis, and other minorities, she warned that "if they are not protected they will be wiped out."
Murad detailed how she and thousands of Yazidi women and girls were enslaved and raped by their ISIS captors. She recounted how six of her brothers and her mother were executed by ISIS in a single day.
Murad also called on the Islamic community around the world to do more to denounce ISIS. "What has been happening has been happening under the name of Islam," she said. "The Muslims must be the first ones to resist this ... We have not seen that Daesh have been labeled as an infidel group within Islam by any Muslim country."

Isn't Jordan a Muslim country?

Da'esh have claimed responsibility for a bomb attack in Baghdad, which has killed at least 79.

Bloody.. hell. Just a terrible, appalling and dumb news to overhear again. Now we've got the 3rd massive terrorist attack solely in this week. :(
(Among which the most heartbreaking one for Japanese was the one in Bangladesh, obviously :( )

Another source says the current death toll stands at 131, by the two major explosions aimed at killing dozens of Shia Muslims around a bazaar at the evening of the last day of Islamic fasting season "Ramadhan" - purportedly triggered as the part of retaliation of ISIL after one of their major controlled areas Fallujah being seized by Iraqi ground forces just one week back.

Death toll in the Baghdad bombing now up over 200 and rising.
The Saturday night attack on a busy shopping district was the deadliest single incident in the Iraq's war-weary capital in years, killing at least 200 people, Mohamed al-Rubaye‎, the deputy head of the security committee of the BaghdadProvincial Council, said on Afaq TV Monday.

A suicide bomber carried out an attack early on Monday near a U.S. diplomatic site in the western Saudi city of Jiddah, according to the Interior Ministry. The ministry said the attacker detonated his suicide vest when security guards approached him near the parking lot of a hospital. The attacker died and two security men were wounded with minor injuries, according to the ministry statement, which was published by the state-run Saudi Press Agency. Some cars in the parking lot were damaged.

^ Terrific, the scale of the Sunday's bombing can be much more massive than the terrorist attacks in Paris last year solely in terms of death toll... :(

A lot of security analysts expected this, as ISIS has lost a lot of ground in Syria and Iraq recently. Some of their biggest strongholds have fallen, and their power is fractured. The analysts interpret their attacks as an attempt to show that they still have strength.

A Russian attack helicopter (reportedly, "Mi-25", which is an export version of the Mi-24D - never thought the RuAF operates these, some people think it was actually a Mi-35, but anyway - it was a "Crocodile") was shot down by IS fighters today. None of the two pilots survived. :(
As reported, it was downed by a US-made anti-tank (!) missile (probably TOW), which must be kinda tricky to hit a helicopter with, but it can't be evaded by shooting off IRCMs (false heat targets) either. The guys just were too unlucky. The missile hit the tail, the chopper lost control, went down spinning and crashed. There's no ejection system on this helicopter type.

RIP. The bastards will pay for this.
