Pity most GT5 buyers already have a PS3... how about GT5+DFGT for 175 bucks? I'd take it...
Only a smallish amount of GT buyers will at this point own a ps3. Dont forget it's the biggest selling racer of all time. If there's a pricedrop GT will be a very big system seller.

Can't we just ask amar212 himself to explain?

But that wont be much fun .. we need to be busy until E3, then amar212 will talk about something new in coded message after E3.

I wonder if amar works for PD in any way. hmm
You have been around long enough to know the answers to this.

1) No, he has an NDA (non-disclosure agreement)

2) If E3 is when PD does gives details this makes no sense.

3) No, he works for a gaming magazine in Croatia.

Amar posted in a damage thread today:

"Although it's tempting, I see no real addition to gameplay with damage like that.

However, I can see a flood of YouTube replay clips and PhotoMode pictures of Biblical proportions that would kill all the bandwidth of the world if such damage model would be implemented in game with graphic quality such as GT.

Nobody would drive the cars, everybody would be just smashing them. Frankly, it would lead to nowhere

And somehow I'd appriciated more if PD would use all resources spent on such damage-model into other things - day/night circles, weather changes, interactive environments, race-data processing and so on.

However, great, great job there although the particle-effect is pretty much too exaggerated "

Can we take from that, that at this stage damage, weather, day/night and interactive environments aren't going to be a part of GT5?...

No. What we can take from that is that he either doesn't know or can't tell. Amar is a reliable source, but despite him having actual information about the game, he doesn't know everything about it yet. Don't mix his opinion and wishes with solid information.

No offense there to you and your work amar, just trying to keep things sorted. :)

Just to reiterate, Amar can't let too many cats out of the bag. E3 is the big cat show, so SONY needs to keep as many special cats as possible secret, so they make a big impression with such unique cats...

I'm starting to sound windy. :P

But anyway, you can count on a few details of GT5 being kept in the dark until then. And SONY certainly doesn't want to find themselves in the same position Microsoft did when Turn 10 overpromised what was going to be in Forza 2. When it ended up being about two-thirds the game they promised it would be, they earned a lot of anger from frustrated fans. Then again, Microsoft can commit mass murder and people will forgive them, and that's a luxury SONY doesn't have.

So true. They already have with RROD and the various other bugs the "other console" has had. +1 for you. I would not be surprised if PD kept come secrets until GT5 actually released. I think E3 will showcase the "selling point" to build demand and anticipation.

does the wind blow from the Porsche company?
Well, they might be kind of ruf...

You know, I was wondering that too. It's remotely possible that E3 is going to be where a number of big cool details are revealed. And then just before GT5 is released, a few new big announcements might happen. This time... you know, it could be...

And as for passing the time, I have way too much to do. I have music and fiction to work on, as well as several games I'm playing and a new PC to build next week. Plus my job blows, and it eats up 40 hours a week, so I expect E3 to sneak up on me and hit me in the face before I know it.

If Amar was getting 2nd hand information then he wouldn't have a non disclosure agreement. So he must be getting 1st hand information and either be working or testing for Sony Europe mate.

My guess is Sony is leaking Amar information about the game in order to leak to the public and build hype (which is working an absolute bloody treat mate!) prior to e3 and then the release. They know internet hype is one of the most effective and cost effective ways to advertise a new product mate.

If they hold back announcing the things that the fans really want like damage, day night cycles, weather, and the bloody awesome Valiant Charger R/T until a month or two before the release, they wont blow their load too soon, and peak hype right up before the game drops worldwide mate.

So Im hoping in the meantime theyre announcing some cool new things that are going to make this game better like more cars, more tracks, track editor gt5 bundle, private online races with chat and interactive home / garage, but not necessarily the most wanted stuff just yet. Im hoping for a lot more of these cryptic announcements preceding official announcements and roll on the feast of the gods mate!

I love all these posts about GT5's details, but the only major problem I see it's that I still don't see nothing about dynamic weather and what not. I mean, that's one of the main reasons why I bought PGR4 and it would so help the GT series.

I really don't care about damage but the greatest thing I see on Amar's post, I gotta admit, it's the track editor. I've been hoping for this since the moment I bought GT3 and now it can finally come!!!

Yeah I agree mate but what will the backgrounds of the tracks be when you join more than one track together?

Surely you wont have Grand Canyon suddenly become a London street?
So maybe its just like the built track will be in the middle of nowhere with distant hills.
