Wow is that so!
Hmmm I don't like the sound of that, subscription this subscription that ugh no no no.
Xbox 1 what a strange name, not the actual 1 thing just why use it now?PS1,PS2,etc makes sense but xbox 1!:D
.

Well it is "ONE" meaning the one box you only need (and an iphone:dopey:), everything in one box which I predicted they'd do. One of the things I posted way back was how this "one box" will work in the EU regarding TV markets and regions and this is still unanswered.

Considering the target audience I think it was a decent show.

My only problems personally is I don't watch much TV, I have my everthing box here called a pc with capture card and can switch between gaming, internet and TV in a click. I don't have to switch HDMI channels, its all on my desktop in a much powerful way.

A sad point possibly is the new target for MS and maybe include Sony's PS4 is that some of the console cost is going on hardware and development cost for multiple features for non gaming which means around $70-100 could've been spent on a better GPU if it were a straight gaming box.

Say what now?
Do you have something other than your own wild opinion to back that up?
Will have to wait for official technical specs but going by power figures (100W 40nm AMD Jaguar based 8-core CPU/GPU), the leaks seem accurate about hardware performance. Given that PS4 GPU is most likely over 50% faster than the Xbox One and also having a lot more memory bandwidth and both consoles most likely targeting 1080p, one can assume there will be a noticable difference in games that are multi-platform whether if double FPS or being visually more impressive. Sony best first party studios are quite impressive when it comes to graphics so them having also a huge hardware advantage should be quite telling. The Wow effect should be very prevalent on PS4 compared to the Xbox One.

So just your speculation then.

Well unless Microsoft have some secret to make things much more powerful without using their cloud serivce, then I think it is quite possible to be that big difference for majority of the games. Anyway if Microsoft does have a secret that Sony doesn't know about using GPU and CPU from same manufacturer then it will be quite impressive that with much less memory bandwidth and GPU power (As leaked) to be able to compete at same resolutions and frame rate while using an older manufacturing processing node and most likely also taking less power. Goes against all logic really.

I will be mighty impressed if they can pull that off though but I am being realistic to think Microsoft are not magicians. If I turn out wrong about this, which I hope happens as I will try and get some of this secret sauce for my PC ;).

Considering that all games must be installed in order to play them and that there will be an 'activation fee' in second hand games (or lending them to a friend, going to a friend's house, etc.), doesn't that necessarily mean that in order to play/install games there will be an online check of a first install, therefore 'always online' is a must for the most important part of the console?

Contracts are negotiable.

Put on your "They Live" sunglasses and join us in Realville.

I wonder how long it will take M$ to pull the plug on 360 online use like they did Xbox1?

Contracts are negotiable, but not usually after you've already agreed to them
If you don't like the terms as they are, don't agree to them in the first place. Agreeing to them and then getting angry when you're held to them is just silly.

And the ad hominem jabs aren't helping me take you more seriously.

Are you insinuating they did that quickly? Because it was 2010, five years into 360 life. Seems reasonable to me. I don't expect PS3 online gaming still active beyond 2018.

On another note I find it hard to take anyone that refers to them as M$ seriously.

In thought it was immediate? Then what had Xbox1 people so mad about 360 when it released?

MS is multiple sclerosis.

Most likely

It needs to be connected when you activate the game to use the code; and you need to connect to the internet once per day or it stops working entirely.
So basically they simply tried to find a backdoor to say it doesn't need always online, because it only needs to be once per day online.

At the end that's about the same. :grumpy:

I can't really imagine that people won't be upset due to this.

Nope.
You bought a license to use it. That license extends exactly as far as it says in the EULA, and not one step farther. Like it or not, you agreed to it when you bought it.
.

Nope. Several Us rulings (Iphone, PS3) made a point in the US. In the EU Oracle got a big slap to in that concern.
If a company tells you stupid stuff and you signed it doesn't mean it's the law.

You know how many times, shops try to sell me something with a warrenty of a year, yet in the EU nearly everything has a 2 year warrenty by law. Apple did this for years, sell people a 2 year warrenty when it is already covered by law.

On the ONE: not impressed. The change was more than forseeable but Balmer just needs to go before he burns down the entire company

X-box #ONE for the real american gamer.

PS4 for the international gamer.

Also f that bs about needing kinect. Do people really wanna be looked at through a lens while gaming?

All this news coming out really is shocking

Microsoft is playing the role of the arrogant, overconfident Sony of 2006 all over again. Thankfully Sony learned from their mistakes, but it appears Microsoft is in all too much of a hurry to repeat them

All this garbage tied onto the console is extremely annoying. Why cant I just buy a game, pop it in, and play it? You know like a bluray movie or CD? Why do I have to check in with big brother once a day?

Forza 5 looks amazing, but I dont know if negotiating and dealing with all the chains they're going to put on the consumer is worth it

Nice big shot of the rear:

No more power brick!

HDMI in and out of course, for the bypass from cable/sattelite receiver to TV.

Here's a gallery with lots more photos:

All the rumors are somewhat true. 8 cores, 8GB, Some form of online required, Kinect mandatory, Blocking second hand games outright without a fee of the full price apparently.

Only thing that didn't leak was the name. They had an extra month to clean up whatever they needed to.

FM5 will be missed dearly.

How do we know there won't be an external power supply? That doesn't look like any standardized plug I've ever seen.

And I already figured they were going to drop the analog audio (likely so they can charge for an external DAC box), but I'm still surprised that it's HDMI only for video.

...erm, so it's a casual gaming PC in a VHS box? An uber couch potato machine?
No thanks. I already have all the boxes and tablets and phones and iwhatevers that do all those things anyway. My desire to not use a remote ever again is not very high. I kind of like the exercise.
MS playing up the "ONE" as the greatest all-american ad machine doesn't help them either. They need to wake up and smell the rest of the world.
The only thing that interests me is Forza 5 and even then...
I'm hoping the next GT + Drive Club and whatever else Sony has up it's sleeve for next gen sates my racing needs on console. Exclusivity still sucks.
