If I would be hardcore guy I would go PC and direct drive so I wanna have it easy, just be able to play whenever without doing lots and lots of customizations and never knowing if you have done it right. But that said I think for a price point of 600 euro and up you should be able to have both plug n play and a great experience. Csl at the moment seems to struggle. And reviews of T-GT suggest cool stuff but total set too expensive. So I will wait for your impressions. Got my T300 to work again and took my first sport race victory in GT Sport - nice. But I dont trust it to work much longer and ffb felt kind of lam today so Im not sure its fully ok even if ffb in GT sport have not impressed. Perhaps that T-GT could add a spice...
Just got my T-GT delivered and after mounting it on my playseat challenge tried it with GTsport, AC and PC2 for an hour or 2. I haven’t dialed in my settings yet, but these are my first impressions coming from a G29.
Build quality
The power supply is huge and heavy, which immediately gave me the impression this is going to be one powerful wheel! On pictures the rim seemed a little toyish and expected it to be more in line with the g29 rim, but its one well built and heavy steering wheel. All the buttons are better quality and have a positive click. I am also impressed with the shifting paddles. The wheel is very smooth and way more powerful then my G29! I tried all games with standard settings but I’m sure I will need to dial the FFB down to get used to the power! Mentioned in the reviews I’ve seen there is indeed some cogging when you make small movements when you’re idle or not racing. You won’t notice any of that during a race. And much much better then a g29.
T3PGT
The pedalset impressed me, because some were complaining about the build quality. The pedal arms are heavy duty and I like the comical brake mod better then the rubber in the g29. Also I noticed two small holes behind the pedals on top of the pedaldeck. These are a definite reference to the TRS official Loadcell addon that is floating around in Thrustmaster limbo I found and mentioned in another thread. So hopefully the brake pedal can be upgraded to a Loadcell soon!
Gt sport
It recognized the wheel without any issues. My first impression of the DFB-T feature is that it was much more subtle then I expected. Before the g29 felt a little dead compared to the FFB in AC or PC2 but now it felt more alive and adds to the immersion. You feel very detailed rumble depending on the road texture I used 5/5 settings and will probably need to start with less power to get used to the torque this wheel delivers. Very impressed indeed!
Assetto Corsa
In other mode the wheel needed to be set as “preset” in options menu. FFB very powerful and get the same detail from my g29. No compatibility issues in the 20 min I played.
Project cars 2
Recognized as a T300 and no compatibility issues in other mode. In “raw” (I used informative with g29) I felt the g29 seemed a little dead and underwhelming. But with the T-GT, the wheel came alive and started to try ripping my hands off! I will definitely need to dial the FFB down before I play it again.
To be honest I was very impressed with the power and speed. But it wasn’t that huge an upgrade from a g29. Which i know now is actually a very good wheel that can give detail just like these “high end” wheels. Just a little louder and less smooth (cogging). As you can see, the experience was pretty much plug and play. And I only needed to unplug the wheel when changing from GT mode to other mode.
Will I try the CSLE? I’m not so sure it can improve a lot more then the T-GT. Perhaps the LC pedals?
But in the end it will probably be more of a choice in ecosystem and thrustmaster seems to be going all in, with partnerships with sparco and Ferrari.
