Top Speed in a car

Not even the point I was making with the aerodynamics... Power transfer is definately a major part in getting these cars running. In a straight line, sure you'll take that CLk, but in turns, you haven't a chance, that is why I suggested the Saleen. American car, can turn and compete with the CLK, possibly bury the thing. Don't get me wrong, I am all about American Muscle cars, but it is time for the next evolutiuon for them. We got the aerodynamics working on the later generation cars, we just need some Old School power put back into them

hang on guys. this is the clk gtr we're talking about, it has about as much in common with a regular car as a bottle of vinegar. muscle cars are fantastic and i love them to bits, but the gtr isn't exactly short itself. what is it, a 6.0 merc engine? very highly tuned... the saleen competing with it? yeah sure, mclaren f1 too, but most other things can forget about it.

Top Speed 191.0 mph / 307.4 kph
0 - 30 mph 1.7 seconds
0 - 60 mph 3.4 seconds
0 - 100 mph 5.7 seconds
0 - ¼ mile 9.4 seconds

Power 447.4 Kw / 600.0 bhp @ 7000 rpm
Torque 699.6 Nm / 516.0 ft lbs @ 3700 rpm

0-100 5.7 seconds!!!!!!

feel free to prove me wrong but that car isn't short of anything. err except the aerodynamics, wasn't it pulled out of gt racing because it had a tendency to flip at high speeds?

Back on topic. There is this hill near my grandmother's house. Its on a long streatch of road. It suddenly drops (almost) and you get that weird feeling in your stomach when you go over it fast enough (that kind of hill). Once my dad hit 90 (1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4) and we had lift off (not to high). Lots of people love to jump it and you can see all the tire marks that line the ground where most of them land. My dad and Uncle have the farthest so far ...

power: 456.4 kw /612.0 bhp @ 6800 rpm
torque:775 nm/ 571.6 ft lbs @ 5200 rpm

(those number are from the 1998 clk gt-r) according to supercars.net)

and the faster clk (on top speed) is the clk gt-r 2002 : 198.8 mph,but 0 -60 is .4 seconds slower = 3.8 seconds.

Yeah ummm, well, you know what a 13b is ???? it is a rotorary engine taken out of a RX-7 second generation. Now with a little work and a Dyno slip to prove over 350hp and a car that is less weight then an RX-7. The 13B is less weight then the 1.6 liter inline four engine, which dropped the weight of the car which began at 2295lbs, Also with the dry sump oil system in the car it dropped the engine 2 inches down lowering the center of gravity of the car. Never got a weight difference after that, but the car felt a little lighter. Which I also have the Radar print out of the Car doing that speed too. You tell me now, does that sound about right?

Well, Miata13B, I believe the possibility of the speed, but how did you know if the Miata's speedometer only goes up to 140? Just a question...

And MIH, a 626 Wagon/Capella? Cool. Though that's only like 112 mph or so. Still good. Man if I had access to the Autobahn, I'd be running tests for Car and Driver. I don't weigh much more than 95Lbs, so the cars would go faster. Yup.

nah i just copied the stats off http://www.fantasycars.com/derek/cars/clkgtr.html its not like i took my gtr down to the dyno and had it tested! hehehe.

Well, it probably could go faster, but i had a skibox on the roof. So as soon as the needle past 190km/h, the box started to slide from side to side. And the car wasn't very stable too above 190.
Also because of the box.
