Games out now that have platinums: Uncharted, Warhawk, BUZZ!, Burnout Paradise, WipEout HD, and Ferrari Challenge

I'm thinking Warhawk and WipEout HD are so far platinumless.

Edit: Eye of Judgement has a platinum available. Didn't know that. EoJ also isn't on the list in the first post.

Edit 2: Here's another guy at Level 8:

I don't think many have Platinum trophies for Buzz either, I think that requires something like, 200+ games of trivia. Well, I know it's possible, but wow. Still, I have my doubts, as those are entirely free from any checks, so users can put in what they want.

I just broke level 6 myself, about 13% in. Hopefully I'll be level 7 by next week. With LittleBigPlanet and Dead Space being out, it shouldn't be too long.

Actually, IIRC, all the info for those cards is pulled from your PSN account every so often (When you sign up you put your details in, and it logs your trophies), atleast that's how it is with one of the trophy sites.

From,
Chris.

Nope, I'm a member on Playfire, you do it all yourself.

That is because they come out today, and are only available if you buy the third expansion. Personally, I am still on the fence about this game. I haven't opened it yet and thought about it when I heard that it was getting trophies. But then I realized that you have buy a $14.99 DLC in order to use new card expansions and trophies are only in the third exapansion. So, people collecting the cards isn't enough? I could understand paying for the DLC as Wizards of the Coast makes the cards and the developer makes the software, but I only paid $30 for the game and camera pack. Even if I had paid the full $65 price the game itself is only $25 after you subtract the camera cost.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Magic when it was big (NERD ALERT!) but I didn't have to pay a down payment for each expansion before I ever got a card. I'd like to try the game to see if it's worth it, but will I lose resell value if it is opened vs leaving it sealed? Plus, I know no one else that has the game to play with.

That still leaves 3 or 4 platinums that are attainable. For me or you this does seem very impossible, but we have lives and jobs. From what I can see of your PSN activity you are on about as much as I am, probably more, but you are better at a lot of these games than me, so you have more.

Now, let's look at these guys. Part-time community college kids living off thier parents? Home schooled kids that get their lesson and do their homework on their own schedule, and thus tend to have everything done before public school kids ever get home? Or trophy whores in the truest meaning of the word?

See, your PSN profile may say Trophy Ho under the About Me section, but it is only somewhat true. You play a game and try to get trophies while you are there. You still enjoy the game, yes? Plus you have been in at least two betas that I know of. Those were not getting you any trophies.

Now these guys likely hunt trophies and only play the games with them because they have trophies. For them it is not about fun unless they can brag about their trophy status. These are the same guys who comment on every game announcement on the PlayStation Blog with "No trophy no buy," and follow it up with complaints in PAIN and Warhawk patch posts about the difficulty of some of the trophies (afterall they require you to actually be good). They have probably printed off every walkthrough and trophy guide on the Web.

See, you see this as impossible, but I am looking at it and picturing a few guys I know of on their Xbox Achievements quests and instead of thinking that it is impossible I am thinking that it is sad. These poor bastards probably even bought Geon.

I just broke level 6 myself, about 13% in. Hopefully I'll be level 7 by next week. With LittleBigPlanet and Dead Space being out, it shouldn't be too long.
Some of the LittleBigPlanet trophies are just for being a good all around player and I know that I had the requirements for something like 20 in the Beta alone, so the bronzes shouldn't be too hard to get. Now, some of the silver and golds won't be as easy.

List of the LBP trophies that I had met requirements for in the beta:

Bronze:
  • Artist -Place a sticker
  • Homemaker -Place 10 stickers or decorations in your pod
  • Fashion Sense - Choose a costume for your sackperson with at least one item on your head, at least one item on your body, and a material
  • 2X Multiplier! - Get a 2X Multiplier
  • 8X Multiplier! - Get a 8X Multiplier
  • Incredible Speed! - Travel at incredible speed(? define incredible)
  • Incredible Height! - Travel to an incredible height (? define incredible)
  • Friendly - Complete a level with more than one player
  • Traveler - Complete a community level
  • FIRST! - Be among the first 10 people to complete a community level
  • Opinionated - Tag a community level
  • Neighborhood - Watch Heart 5 community levels (does this mean just hearting 5 user-created levels? I also hearted two dev levels)
  • Networking - Heart 3 authors
  • Talkative - Post a comment on a community level
  • Creator - Build and save a level with the thermometer more than 30% full
  • Publisher - Publish a level
  • Look What I Made! - A level you published was played by 5 or more people
  • Sackbird (Hidden) - Spend 8 seconds or more in the air (Do jet packs count?)

Silver:
  • 20X Multiplier! - Get a 20X Multiplier (anyone looking for this play my level, I have a hidden area with enough bubbles for a 50X multiplier)
  • Hi Score - Collect 1,000,000 points over all levels you have played (Too many user levels have huge bubble bonuses. 1,000,000 is too easy)
  • Dr Frankenstein - Create a living creature with at least 2 eyes, 2 legs or wheels, and a brain

So, yeah, one week with LBP and I will start rolling in the trophies.

That's because that is all he has been playing since it came out. From the PS Eye pictures he has sent me on the PSN it looks like the whole family gets in on the fun.

I got one too, in fact I don't think he should get the credit for that one, I suspect his kids did all the hard work.

If by hard work you mean making funny faces at the camera...is there a trophy for that?

Got that one and had forgotten about it until it popped up and I remembered I had the camera plugged in, good job I wasn't playing in just my pants

When I first got my PS Eye and was setting it up I suddenly realized how horrid I look in sleep shorts and a white t-shirt. I then made a mental not to make sure that the camera is not plugged in unless I am dressed properly.

Rumor: Sony working on rewards system for Trophy-getters
Posted Oct 20th 2008 8:45AM by Majed Athab
Filed under: Rumors

This is interesting and somewhat bizarre at the same time. According to the US Official PlayStation Magazine (via CVG), Sony might be working on a rewards system for Trophy-whores Trophy-hunters. The concept here involves getting another type of reward for obtaining the most difficult Trophies.

Apparently, earning a shiny graphic of a platinum Trophy isn't enough of an accolade; there has to be more. US OPM suggests that the new rewards could be anything from early beta access, to free wallpapers and themes. As of right now, this is still a rumor. Take it with a grain of salt. If this does prove to be true, then Trophy grabbing seems to be an even more lucrative feature.

So, I hit 50% in PAIN last night. I am shooting for 100% so I can get paid for a trophy guide by PS3Fanboy.

I'll probably also be getting a lot over the next few months. I tend to rent-to-own from Gamefly, so I will probably get plenty of trophies from games I don't actually buy.

I have to say though, right now it is looking like we will be able to expect trophies in nearly every game next year. We seem to be getting into the last of the games where development schedules haven't allowed for them.

I'm still not sure whether I would rather games get patched later or delay to add them at launch. I know I was disappointed to have Age of Booty delayed for them. I have been wanting to see a proper real-tiem strategy game on my console for a while. I am hopeful this can do a good job of it based on the hands-on preview I have seen.

Oh yeah, everyones going to be earning trophies left and right, I was hoping Mirror's edge would get them, but its not looking too good.
Looks great from what I can see:

I just became the happiest guy ever.. Im buying this the day it comes out, when can I pre-order this? when does it come out? I want it NOW! (im a free-runner, now im an excited one)

So, I have given up on the 100% PAIN trophies. I remembered that the Ninja Pwnd trophy requires hitting the little stuffed ninja in every mode in every difficulty of Amusement Park. As I have yet to ever get into any of the Platinum Club levels (I can barely scrape past Hard on most modes) I know this will be either impossible or a huge time sink that will cease being fun very quickly. Plus, they have a new environment coming next month that will add even more trophies. No PSN card for me :(

So, I took a shot at High Velocity Bowling. They are all online, which is great because it is much more fun to play online against actual humans who make random mistakes, and if they make a last second comeback win you don't get suspicious of the programming. Plus, the only HVB trophy that may be out of my reach is the score 250 in a single game online. But practice may even make that possible. All the rest are accomplished easily by an average player who just plays it a lot. The only other score-related trophy is 180 in an online game. I got over 170 last night, so a 180 is just one less mistake away.

Anyone that wants to play and work on some trophies in HVB let me know. I can also do voice chat if that makes a difference. Note: custom music is turned off by default if voice chat is on.

Howdy all!

It's been a crazy Summer and then some, but thought I'd drop by and say Howdy.

So after finally having some time to experience this whole "Trophy" thing, I have to say, I am impressed. Not only is it a great way to find out what games your PSN Friends are playing, and to ask and receive tips on a getting a trophy that one may be having trouble with, but I must admit, it definitely adds a great deal of gameplay and replay value to the games that have it. I had forgotten how great a game Uncharted was/is, until playing it again recently in order to try and get some or all of the trophies. Having recently played Bioshock again, I have to say, overall, I found Uncharted to be a much more entertaining game... although I really like them both very much!

As for recent Trophy chatter...

Looking online I found this guy:

Pesico.png

Uhhh, that's just a placeholder right? There is no way anyone is Level 8 yet. It's literally impossible.

It is very much possible, and speaking personally, I played Buzz with some guy who was nearly half the way through level 8, and that was over a week ago. As FoolKiller pointed out, there were already over 400 trophies, and of course now there are nearly 800 trophies, including 14 possible Platinum trophies... that said, being at level 8 or higher doesn't really mean much, other than that they play a lot of games. I still whooped him in Buzz despite having a significantly smaller game level. :)

Speaking of Buzz...

I don't think many have Platinum trophies for Buzz either, I think that requires something like, 200+ games of trivia. Well, I know it's possible, but wow.

I got my Platinum for Buzz two weeks ago, it really wasn't a big deal, and took very little time... and much of it was time spent with the family playing it together. 👍

In fact, getting the Platinum for Uncharted was much more laborious. :ouch:

That's because that is all he has been playing since it came out. From the PS Eye pictures he has sent me on the PSN it looks like the whole family gets in on the fun.

I got one too, in fact I don't think he should get the credit for that one, I suspect his kids did all the hard work.

:)

If by hard work you mean making funny faces at the camera...is there a trophy for that?

There should be! :)

The kids love Buzz though, especially the "Pie Fight" section... and they like the different buzzer sounds, and making their characters do wacky things by pressing different buttons in between questions.

One of my favorite things about Buzz though, is it allows us to make our own quizzes, thus we are able to make educational quizzes geared towards what the kids are currently learning in school... although we also make some "Adult" private versions just for us. It brings a new meaning to "Game Night" at the Nitrate home. :D

In fact, I just picked up an additional four buzzers (8 total), in order to try out the 8-person games. Should be fun!

Oh, and is there a table that shows the value of each trophy and the algorithm for leveling up?

I would really like to know that as well. I suspect each type of trophy (platinum, gold, silver, and bronze), have a fixed point value, but each game level appears to require more points in order to get to the next level. This is just speculation on my part, so it would be great if Sony or someone in the know would reveal the precise formula.

Digital Nitrate!!!! I missed you and your pinpoint accurate posts. Good to see you've been playing some games lately! And I had no idea that there were so many possible trophies already. But most games coming out now are being shipped with trophy support, so that is definitely a good sign.
