There are lots of romours that GTA 4 is getting a Trophie patch next Monday 27/10.

Supposedly there has been and official statement in a Rockstar mailing list, that the pacth is going live this Monday. Although on their main site the is no words about it.

PixelJunk Monsters and PJM: Encore are getting updated next week to add various things, one being trophies.

They are adding a new challenge mode for the trophies since they couldn't make them retroactive, but didn't want to force people to replay the game.

Trophies are now added for both PixelJunk Monsters and Encore. We weren’t able to retroactively apply Trophies to the previously played data, but Q-Games didn’t want to force people to play everything all over again. They came up with a great idea by creating Trophy Challenges. These challenges have specific maps with set rules or objectives that will reward you with Trophies if you complete them properly.

Oh, and is there a table that shows the value of each trophy and the algorithm for leveling up?

I would really like to know that as well. I suspect each type of trophy (platinum, gold, silver, and bronze), have a fixed point value, but each game level appears to require more points in order to get to the next level. This is just speculation on my part, so it would be great if Sony or someone in the know would reveal the precise formula.

OK, so last night I was playing around with some possible formulas and using the Trophy data from many of the people in my friend's list to see if I could accurately tell what their gamer level is by only looking at their trophy count and I think I may have it figured out:

Bronze Trophy   =  15 points
Silver Trophy   =  30 points
Gold Trophy     =  90 points
Platinum Trophy = 180 points

Level 2 =    200
Level 3 =    600
Level 4 =  1,200
Level 5 =  2,400
Level 6 =  4,000
Level 7 =  6,000
Level 8 =  8,000
Level 9 = 10,000

Here are some of the key evidence that I think helps prove this to be true, or at least close to the real formula:

Cool, I forgot Burnout Paradise and Battlefield Bad Company having trophies! Cheers, gives me something to do between birthday, coursework, guitar and other stuff!

I only wish I had some people on my friends list that are closer to the start of level 5 and the start of level 7 just to confirm my findings.

OK, so if my formula and calculations are correct, then the vast majority of Disc based games have a total of 1,230 points worth of trophies, although there are a few exceptions. For instance Warhawk has 1,740 points worth of trophies (the most of any game so far), Burnout Paradise has a total of 1,605 points, and Eye of Judgment has 1,140 points worth of trophies (the fewest). That said, by far most all have a total of 1,230 points.

As for PSN games, most have a total of 315 points, but again there are exceptions. For instance, Super Stardust HD has 495 points worth of trophies, and PAIN has 480 points.

In both these exceptions, as well as Warhawk and Burnout Paradise, the reason they have more possible points is most likely due to the fact that you can earn trophies from additional DLC.

It is. PAIN has a new environment and add-on character (The Hoff, baby!!!) coming out on November 6th and the producer confirmed this morning on their site that it would also add 7 more trophies. Earning 69 million points cumulative with The Hoff is worth a gold.

If anyone should still be in doubt about the GTA 4 trophies. There is now and official statement from Rockstar games that the trophies are going live tomorow 27/10 as the rumor that had been circulating already indicated.

I never completed the game my first time around. Mostly because i got some other games. So this gives me a good reason to start all over and try to get some trophies to the collection

Now if we could get a trophie patch for MGS 4, then I will be happy. I only completed it once, but i would defenetly do it a few more times if it had trophies.

GTA Trophy patch is out now. It gives you one just for starting the game . I wish Pain did that, thats the only way i'll ever get one.

Trophies are standard for all games releasing / starting development after January 1st 2009. There may be a few exceptions, but it is very unlikely.

May as well add all of those (apart from Bad Company - I so want the patch for that one), however I do so with LBP under protest, as we in the EU have to wait until next week to play it again. I've so missed the LBP beta.

Aquanaut's Holiday is a remake of a PS1 game. I am not sure the original was ever released outside of Japan.

It is similar to Endless Ocean on the Wii and from what I can tell they will be kind of like Afrika (same developer for Afrika and Aquanauts), in that you have to document and learn about the different wildlife you encounter.

In Endless Ocean you are basically a contract diver working for a research institute and you have free time to dive and explore, but then you are assigned missions to photograph specific species or you have to be a dive guide for tourists looking to see a certain fish. Endless Ocean is good as an educational game but drags a lot and can become boring. It is especially annoying when a tourist wants to dive in a specific area and then see a fish that is commonly found somewhere else. If I weren't such a marine life junkie I would have never played it.

I am hoping that Afrika and Aquanaut's Holiday will keep you a little busier and keep the gameplay going forward a bit more. However I am unsure if either game will finally make it out of Japan. It seems like they will as from what I gather in Afrika you are on assignment for National Geographic, which is recognized internationally. The graphics on both Afrika and Aquanauts is astounding, based on gameplay videos that I have seen.
