TT #36: 600pp Nürburgring 24h/Cote d'Azur. See post 1 for tunes.

I've snuck into the top 10 and I'm top brit for now, I improved by about half a tenth 3 times today and I managed to finish off most of my fast laps so I'm in a good mood. :)

Hi to all. I joined the forum today because its the best! Now to my question. I am currently 303 at the Code d' azur with little effort(1 hour), but i feel that the setup is not good. I tried a setup posted in here but i can't get the optimum of the car for some reason. I am not good with setups so i wonder if someone can post a detailed setup for the F1 2007. It will be very much appreciated.

P.S congrats to all making it in to the top of the leaderboard !

I'm sorry if my setup didn't work for you, I'm not a very good tuner but I have a rough idea of how the car should be setup.

Very good time Peasantslayer

I think on that lap I was faster than you in the first sector and thanks for setting an even faster lap because it has helped me a lot :) Do you think that time will win you the TT?

Do all the fast times consists of drifting your ferrari all over the course or is there more to it? Cause I checked the fastest time and it was full of slides and wall boost.

The second guy have found a heavy speed setup.
He is much faster on the straight.
Thats not good.
But i can drive 2 tenths faster now.

I slide but it's only really noticable in the hairpins, there's a very small difference between gaining a little bit of time and losing a lot when you start getting it sideways.

I hope this doesn't mean I'm about to plummet down the leaderboards, if you find a good amount of ballast can you share please?

Is the 2007 Ferrari truly better than the F10?

Difference in handling?

If the F10 was better then there would be a lot more people using it at the top of the leaderboards but who knows perhaps everyone saw Immortalpilot and thought he must be right it, I did and the F2007 is working well for me.

I think he is running slightly less downforce for a few more bhp, I tried adding ballast and I couldn't improve but then I decided to run 2 or 3 less downforce than normal because downforce is only important in a couple of fast corners and I went a bit faster. Less downforce on the straights means better acceleration and I have more power.

Can you say me which downforce you drive now??

I'm currently using 147:197 which I would say is roughly 0.05 to 0.1 faster. I haven't had chance to experiment but maybe even less will be even better, something like 140:190.

By the way I noticed you lost a lot of time going into the tunnel so you probably have a tenth or 2 to be made on that corner alone.

Was researching monaco pole laps and found this.

Why are the GT5 F1 cars so much faster?

The track is generally wider in GT5, GT5 players will be willing to take more risks and of course this is just a game.

Ok thanks.
Yes i know that was a big mistake.
I try your downforce later.

Congratulations to IMMORTALPILOT, Peasantslayer and everyone else that is up top on the leaderboards.

I got my 2007 out of the garage this evening, fiddled with the tranny a little and took it for a spin around 'Cote. Couldn't find a shifting rhythm with the top speed ran all the way down. Wasn't doing any better so adjusted the downforce some and ran the top speed back up around 212. Shifting felt better but I took to much downforce out of the back and the car slid out everywhere. Re-balanced the downforce a little and ran a few more laps and was able to take 2 more seconds of my PB. It's nowhere near the "world class" times you folks are putting in, but it was better. Thanks to all here for this discussion which inspired me to improve.👍

Having a bad day. Attempted the Nurburgring 600PP TT Today over 20 Times. Can't get a clean lap together. Too angry to attempt anymore today. Playing Video games are supposed to relax me and have fun. This isn't fun for me today. Don't know what it is but It's a Love Hate Relationship with GT5.

I hear you..

I was trying out the Monaco TT and I can't seem to start off right.. Everytime in turn 1 I hit the wall and start over lol

I did one clean lap and haven't been able to improve. Tomorrow is a new day!

I was on a lap that I thought had gone away but as I entered the home straight I realised I was on a quick one, I managed a 1:09.1xx which I think will keep me in the top 20 by the time the TT ends.

I know how you feel, I hate the track but all that frustration goes when you set a good lap.

Been experimenting with no ABS for a couple of days now. Didn't think I was ready for the 'Nurb but thought I'd give the TT a try in my 09' Spec V with no ABS. Took a few tries, about a half hours worth, to get a clean lap, quite a few quits in the first minute, but once I developed a rythmn I finally got a clean one at 8:55.xxx, then another at 8:51.xxx. Started a couple more but was getting bleary eyed and making mistakes, but I know an 8:45 is in the for me with no ABS and maybe a better tune. Generally I only put a couple of hot laps into any TT but no ABS completely changes the game from a driving standpoint and it's much more challenging for me.

I varied my BB from 3/0 to 5/0 FYI.

I got a 8:52 with that car and I can improve.. but that track is just too long for when you make a mistake. Now i'm trying Monaco. I like shorter laps for the TTs.

8:52 without ABS? I too like the shorter courses for the TT. I rarely ran the 'Nurb at all until a short while ago for that reason and I'm just not up to putting in 10-15 laps to shave off a few seconds.

I don't see why they couldn't do the same thing with the TT's as they did with the A-Spec events with time related prizes. Say $1,000,000 for hitting the target time and then graduated up to say $5,000,000 for someone that hits 8:25 or whatever the theoretical minimum is with graduated prizes in between.

So if the target time is 9:25 then there would be another $4,000,000 available for shaving the next minute off or roughly $66,666 per second. That would at least give you some incentive for keeping at it beyond personal satisfaction.

Geez, dude! Credits are already waaay too plentiful & easy to come by IMO.

Anyone seen mtk9996's replay on Cote d'azur? his setup is way faster than Immortalpilot's, he takes bad lines and still the car can carry way more speed (end of 2nd sector for example). I'm on a 1:09.003 now and that was with a chunk of time lost in the corner where everyone is cutting the kerb. it's hard staying up there, it must be because it's Monaco grand prix weekend. :)

True, but it's not really about the credits, it's about developing an incentive to keep people playing the game. Most of my buddies run the TT just to get the money and that's it. Rarely do they try for a top time although many of them are certainly capable of it. Beyond personal pride which has it's own motivation, money/prizes/bonuses etc. will keep some of them coming back and playing the game. Even though credits are easy to come by, look how that small change in the A-Spec events has changed how some of us approach it. It's now a real challenge to find the lowest PP car in a particular event for some people, which keeps us playing the game, which is exactly what PD should want. It's developing brand loyalty, priceless in retail:idea:

Keep going! Very impressive times by you and immortal. I have improved my times also and now i am on 169 place. I will try with my GT force now and leave the DS. Setup of the car is still a problem for me because i cant find a good ballance between Straight line speed and downforce. I tried something very intresting in my fastest time that i hope will help some of you. I added 4 kilos of balast at 33F position and that led to understeer but corrected the sliding of the back of the car plus gave me some more horsepower.
