TT No. 50 - Lotus 480PP & 400PP

Dusted off my 111R, upped the power a bit so it has 470PP and set a 1:26.435
after 3 laps. I'm sure if I build it to the 480PP limit and play around with the suspension I can drop that time but for now I'm happy. Forgot how much fun that little car is to drive.

Hi Slims
I know it's asking a lot, but any chance you wanna share your setup of that Elise 111R? :) I've tried out several setups that I've found through this forum, but none that really have matched my driving style or was setup for this track, so i am still bungling around and messing with the setup.. I have managed to get the gold, but only with a 1.27:304 lap and slower..

My main problem being with the Elises tendency to skid out on the rear tyres..

any, and i mean ANY assistance is welcome :)

Cheers

lol the internet is serious business for some people

I guess, damn. lol. Anyways, just went and ran the Suzuki at Suzuka for about 15 min. on my GTP account (borrowed my own car, lol) and ended up just off the leaderboard, leaving time out on the track. Now I'm interested so I may give this TT a serious go.

Quite frankly even I was insulted after reading my own post. I apologize for that sir.

Accepted... and no grudge held 👍

You could take my settings and up the rear wing to c.15 (compensating by reducing the power), or change the rear toe to 0.05, but you will change the handling balance to more understeer led that way.

But the real way to get quicker is to be smooth and not over drive the car... if your using a controller rather than a wheel you need to brake a bit earlier and in a straight line, then blip the throttle to control the rear on corner exits. I've run mid 23's with the pad... someone like Doodle or Numbnuts (pad experts) would be much quicker.

To everyone else: If anyone needs a Suzuki running 10WDIRTY type oil, send me a fr as I have one I can put on share for you. I'm concentrating on the WRS TT's nowadays therefore I'm not using mine. Only golded for the money and thats it. Peace.

I am not sure I am understanding this correctly, but as I read this, you are able choose which engine-oil to run on?? If that is so, how? :)

Cheers

WTF?
The reason it's like that is to create the most closely stacked gear set possible. 6th gear doesn't need adjusting as you just change the final to change the top speed.

I understand both the how and the why... I didn't read the previous post carefully enough, just read it as "ALL WRONG" and was trying to politely suggest that they try it again... Most of the tunes I've seen online have 5th about 85% to the far right 6th is 100% far right.

Granted I've only used this for 3 laps, but I can't thank you enough for sharing. This is hands down the best Lotus Elise tune I've tried.

10WDIRTY (like 10W30, ect)=My smart ass way of saying my car is running dirty oil. No oil change at all. The dirtier the oil, the better for PP events.

I retuned my 111r after reading the post for the 3rd time and got gold with a 1:27:3. I'm pretty certain I could do much better if I could manage to stop the rear from sliding out on just about every turn but I'm positive that's from my crappy driving and using a remote, not the tune. Lol.

Thanks Stotty, I am gonna try your tune this very evening! :) Just one question.. is it based on the Elise 111R '04?
I have been through 4 other tunes so far, but they haven't really provided for me..

Edit - oh my, that tune did play well for me!! fiddled a little with it and shaved off almost 2 sec on my lap time.. best results I've got so far in a TT.. now I guess it is about time to seriously start polishing my driving skills.. been doing ok so far, but only against the game, not other drivers..
Seriously, a huge thanks, Stotty :)

I am using an old Playseat Racing Cockpit with a Logitech GT wheel from 2006.. so old that I don't even remember the actual model.. but it's still running fine and giving me great joy in GT5 :)

I see, Mr. Smarty-pants :) Thanks for clarifying that :) I was getting all nervous that I had missed out on some major upgrade of the GT5 *lol*
And great tip on the oil.. I had no idea, so far I've been changing oil on my cars before any race so far..
Any chance that you could explain why that is so? I am very nosy, sorry, but very curious as well ;)

Ordinarily 5th wouildn't be so far to the right... that's just how this one worked out. On this TT, 5th isn't really a critical gear, so I didn't need to change the overall gearing.

Thanks a lot.

I just adopted a new approach to tuning cars that have low rear end grip, starting with min front/max rear ride height, then using the other settings to dail out the resultant understeer . I also noticed (whilst tuning the NSX for the last seasonal) that stiffer rear suspension seemed to help on these types of car as it controls the lateral weight transfer better (particularly through transitions from one corner to another)...and it gave better rear traction (counter intuative to real life).

The LSD accel setting also has a significant effect of this car... ideally you'd want it high to maximise traction, but if you're finding it too tail happy on corner exits you lower the setting until you find a neutral effect for you style. When I tried mine at 25 it lost a lot of rear grip on exits... so I gradually reduced it until I found a feel I liked... a better driver could probably use a higher setting.

The thing that really changed the 'feel' of the car was softening the front front ARB... didn't make it any faster, just made it feel nicer.

Anyhow, enough of my waffling... good luck going faster 👍

That's the one... the premium version.

I forgot to say in my original post.... don't change the oil but do change the rims :D

When you change the oil you increase the BHP and torque of the engine and increase the power points as a result... with the way the power points system works, it you're working to a limit you're generally better not to change the oil as the doesn't give 'value for power points' vs other upgrades. I've not really looked at it in detail, but seems it increases torque vs BHP disproportinately (pushing up power points disproportionately), whilst the game values BHP higher when it comes to outright speed.

That explains the 3 less hp on mine versus yours with the exact same stuff. I almost always change the wheels because I don't care much for most stock wheels. Never knew they actually made a difference. Lol.

They make a difference to the gearing. :)

@Wudang: Stotty pretty much explained the dirty oil thing. Nothing really more to add. Thanks Stotty. And yea, the rims do change the gearing also. Just keep that in mind when trying to match someone else's gearing. If they changed rims, you're going to have to also in order to match their gearing. I haven't done any "scientific" testing yet, but I haven't noticed any difference in lap times with stock vs. custom rims. Maybe someone else could speak more about this. I only change rims for cosmetic reasons myself.

Used The same Krenke set up for the time trial at Autumn Ring - 480pp.. fair enough.

1 lap, Gold and 1110th in a 111R
Which seemed pretty good going for an out of the box time.

On a perky upbeat note I swapped to the oldest 400pp car I had...

The 400pp event was not so hot, my Lotus Emmecksfiev (Mazda Elan) felt a bit slippy and my best was only silver... But I hit 20 million and didn't feel any need to run either more than a lap.

This placed me 30,000th or something... A true reflection of my hotlappery ability.

Roll on December

Just a quick question on changing the rims. I have understood for some time that changing the rims changes gearing, but;

Will all the rims available to buy change the gearing exactly the same way? I'm guessing yes, but you never know.

Any tune for the Suzuki?
I'm 1296th with 1:00:131 but I can't find the way to down the minute mark. I'm playng with directional buttons and no driving aids

Scary....drove about 40 laps with the elise and wasnt able to get near my normal rank (under top 1000)...had only a time of 1.26...but yesterday my girlfriend told me that my driving look awful..if im driving on ice..if I can't change my tires...and yes, after 40 laps i realized that i used comfort soft...im getting old...nice weekend

Hi Guys,
Heres the tune that I've been using for the suzuki at suzuka?!?(It was already on the car).

Hope this helps the pad users

Was 13th,now 17th but in more talented hands this tune could go a bit faster.
Good luck fellas 👍

Nice sub 58s lap doodle-keep it up m8. :)

A big thanks to stotty for posting the elise tune, nice 1 buddy 👍

Tried Stotty's tune and lowered my time to 1:24.852.

Not much over 3 sec's from the leaders.

Didn't see you post a brake balance so left it at 5 - 5 what it came with, bought a new one so I don't confuse the tunes.

Think I'll change the BB though to a lower one as mentioned in a previous post.

But thanks for the tune. There have been some good ones here.

Helps wheels users too :D

Though I had to change it a bit as I'm using Cargorats car which has no chassis reinforcement... but the base was better than I had 👍

Down to a 58.360 for 16th.

Doodles lap is pretty sweet... I can stay with him until the final sector (even beaten him a few times in T1) then I lose 0.25 to the line.

I'm using 5 4

Yes I just happened to have a bad T1 that lap. I was running consistant low 7s and have even gotten a .698! I think I have a good chance at a 57.8 soon. I've been using a lower BB of 3/1 because you don't really use the brakes that much on this combo.

Sent you a PM. :)

Found out I actually had the car on CS tires when I set that time. Did a quick lap with SH tires and was half a second faster at 1:25.964. Still more room for improvement though but I didn't have the time to do more driving. Hope the setup helps.

Ok guys where can I win the Suzuki ?? I can't find it to buy anywhere. Sorry if this was asked before. Thanks !!
