Yeh, I'm talkin' about slowpoke showing us all the "Short Way Home"!!! Plus GT3mich takes off almost a week in the middle of the comp & still manages to take 2nd Place!!!

THANX also for including your "M.O.V." The variation was even "Wilder" than during the 5-Lapper. "slowpoke" posting the largest margin with a 19.815. "Closest" reported margin was from HighonPSI whose MOV was a mere 3.617 Seconds! He found the Race I'm always "Trying" to find for us!!!

Please Post your Replays, I for one am dying to know where I can improve my line!

Sorry for the Delay getting this Posted, the "Site" went down just as I was about to "Push the Button"!!! :guilty:

THANX AGAIN! ...UB57 :D

Congrats and Hats off to you speedy ones...

Now I know what it is like to be a "mutt" at the "greyhound" races

Trounced I say- Trounced!

Good job on the Race UB!!! 👍 Classic UB57!

See ya all later!

Congrats to everybody, who had fun with this race.

When UB hold the 5-lapper I connected my PS2 to the PC to get the car. At that time I also got the Lister, because there was an all danish team driving one in Le Mans. Quite a coincidence. :dopey:
Thanks for giving me an opportunity to drive it UB. 👍 I seriously doubt I would have driven it by myself for more than a couple of laps.

In my continuing quest to provide close phun Races, several of you will be allowed to run one step "Softer Tyres" Front & Rear.

I thought that rule would come into play during the race, but looking at my times compared to yours. I now realize I've been running softer tires (T-3 FRONT, T-4 REAR) all week. Right?

Been fun racing with you guys. Hope to see you around. :)

Well done to everyone, some fantastic times 👍

Big thanxs to UBee for this fantastic race,it was an absolute corker

Till the next one

HighOnPSI

BTW my replay is PAL. :)

Correct! 👍
:D I picked 5 of you (Only 2 turned in a time however! :irked: ) to run one step softer tyres, My reasoning was that not everyone has a lot of experience running the hardest tyres so the Race might be a little more "Attractive" if the "Ride" was just that little bit easier to control. I also have a "Vague" idea of how to initiate some sort of "Handicap" system in longer races using different tyre specifications to "Tighten Up" the field. Not enough data from this one however to know if it will work or not.

THANX for running this one NielsG, you're ALWAYS Welcome in my comps!!!

@ HighonPSI: Don't you wish we could load PAL/NTSC "Multi Lap" Races into the Analyzer??? With only 0.657 SECONDS separating us after 18.5 minutes of racing I'd Love to see the replay!!! ...UB57 :D

great race guys, very close indeed. Congrats to everyone who took the time to tame this beast of a car.

UB57: one correction, am not using a DFP, i use our friendly DS2 controller.

I just watched that replay now, it was smooth, consistent and 100% clean all the way 👍 Nice replay to watch, and nice overtaking to get the lead back after the pit stop  Sorry it took me so long to get round to watching it Dave, and sorry I never got time to do much runs Bob ...it's been a busy week

Interesting race all the same.. and nice results fella's 👍

Thanx Kel 👍 ,i really enjoyed this one, infact i really enjoyed driving this OVERSTEERING TORQUE MONSTER  :) .

@UB57 Yeah it would be great to put the replays together and see how many times we actually swap the lead between us 👍 .Once again great race and put me down for anything you've got planned for the future :D

Had to try those tyres. :D

I only had a short session with maybe 10 hotlaps and a race. But it seems very representative for my racing in this particular car. T2 front T3 rear.

In free run: lost approx 0.5-0.7 on hotlaps .

In race: 1'st and 6'th: 1sec
2'nd and 7'th: 0.8 sec
3'rd and 8'th 0.5 sec
4'th and 9'th 0.3 sec
5'th and 10'th no time loss.
Adding up to 5,2 secs total. (Which is my race result, when i withdraw 1.4 sec from a major wallcrash in lap 9  )

VERY INTERESTING!!!! 👍
:D I figured the "Softer Tyres" would be good for "About" ONE second per Lap!!! Thanx NielsG

@ anglex: OOOOps :banghead: I'll correct it ASAP! ...UB57 :D

Maybe you fast drivers pushing the tires to the limit, would gain more than me, just cruising the Valley. I don't know, but it seems plausible.

In the race it was important for my times, that I was pitting with yellow tires and therefore didn't loose time in the late laps. While the softer tires peaked on lap 2-3 and was getting bad already from the last half of lap 4.

Both you and UB need to remember that the times you are talking about now are NOT the times you would have been talking about when this race started. Point being, if you are anything like me, I'm a much better driver of both the car and the track having spent all week in and on them.

This is a test that I think proves the point of OLR racing... You get better! Had you run these tests at the beginning of the week, the results would have been a "whole" lot different I'm sure. ;)

Ok, I'll try this again :/ The board went down just as I posted earlier.

Congrats to GT3Mich and angelx for filling out the podium!! And to all of the racers that tamed this Beast on the Beast too!!! 👍

Thanks to UB57 for yet another great race! Lotsa fun, and I look forward to your next concoction :). You truely are outstanding in your field ;) :)!

I've attached both Hotlap ghost and the entire race replays, NTSC Xport. YOu may need to change the extension back to .sps if you have the original Sharkport.

Had fun lady and gents! 'Til the next time we meet, adios :)

:guilty:

Noticed NielsG's post #11 & phattboy's Post #12 so decided to go back & run the "Race" again with the T-3/T-4 Combo. During early testing these tyres worked just fine, lasted 5 Laps NO Problem but yielded times too "Quick" for the competition. I then tested the T-2/T-3 Combo & tuned to where I was barely able (3 out of 5 attempts) to beat the rest of the field. I thought I'd experiment & offer the softer set-up to the five of you "Thinking" it would give you a little edge. (8-10 seconds was my target.)
Well...I just had to run it THREE TIMES to "Finally" win & then I only beat MY time on Harder Tyres by about THREE SECONDS!!! :dunce: Although I had several "Personal Bests" the fact that the tyres "Go Away" about 1/2 way through Laps 5 & 10 makes it a bit of a "Double Edged Sword!"
All I can surmise is that during the week I got to where I was driving a lot "Harder" than I'd done in testing!!! :dunce: "DUH!!!" the fact that I ultimately took over 10 seconds off my first save should have clued me in!!!
At any rate, Please accept my apology, as I truely was trying to make the race more "Enjoyable" NOT adding even more difficulty to an already challenging competiton!!!...UB57 :D

UB, you need to be carefull with ten lap races and softer tires. Generally a 10 lap race on T2's will get you thru without a pit stop and lap3,4, 5, 6, and 7 will yeild pretty quick times. Add in a set of T3 tires and everything changes. In a race with tire wear and anything over 5 laps and I'll use and only use T2 tires. If you wanted to handicap the fast guys, make us use softer tires like T5's. We would have had to pit more than one time. The thing about evening the playing field is a difficult if not an impossible thing to do. Some are just that much faster than others and it all comes down to seat time. I get a lot of time to practice where others only get a few hours a week. I was a Phun race though.

With a mandatory pit on 5 it was, basically, two- 5 lap races.

For the record, I just ran it with the softer tire combo and beat my time by just over 4 seconds on the first try. I think with a little time playing with the tuning and "adjusting" some track habits, I could improve on that. It is, an entirely different ride to me.

Either way... I would have enjoyed the dickens out of this race. Either way, I wouldn't have made the podium. On that point, GT3mich is certainly right when he says, "Some are just that much faster than others and it all comes down to seat time. I get a lot of time to practice where others only get a few hours a week."

More importantly, I appreciate the fact that you not only try to make the races you host competitive, you try to make them competitive for everyone. I don't see where this was a hindrince to anyone here so I say, "No harm... No Foul..." 👍

Quit apologizing and find another race for us to run! :D

phattboy

As ALWAYS...Valuable advice from both GT3mich & phattboy!!! THANX Guys! 👍

I just felt bad that something that seemed like such a great idea during testing may have in fact hampered two of our entrants during the actual race! :guilty: During "Testing" I was running 18'40s figuring I "Might" get down as low as 18'35 & the "Fast Guys" would probably take the win with a 18'30 or so. The ACTUAL results show what pushing (NO "Pun" intended!) this ride around the track for a week can do!!!

Got too much R/L going on at the moment to come up with another Race, but I'll try to "Find" another towards the end of the month.

THANX AGAIN!!!...UB57 :D

Good job UB57 :) Nice to participate with you guys, even though i only ran the one time it was still fun - and thats the whole idea. As for evening things up, well you can try to, but as others have mentioned some will always manage to put in more time than others! (without of course talking about talent/skill). See you at the track next time!

He does speak (and well spoken I might add) WOW! Third post in 10 months! I wish I could keep my mouth shut that long... I'm always getting my speedboat mouth overloading my tugboat butt!

That says something about your race UB!

Hey! Wouldnt want to get a rep as a post whore now would I?! ;)

Dont worry im sure you'll see me around a bit more. (who knows might even manage double figures soon)

UB57, your thoughts regarding handicapping racers to get more even results were in line, but it would be nigh impossible to accomplish in a single race. I've been involved in a few series where the race winner would have to change his car equipment that would negatively impact it (remove HP, harder or softer tires, change Autoset to a lower/higher number, etc.). Without a few midrace reports from the racers, you couldn't change things fast enough to even the results out. IMHO, you done good Bob! 👍

A couple of things that could have really hurt my times in this one would have been a T2/T2 tire combination and an Autoset setting a click or two lower (into the rev limiter?). Food for thought.......

I ran the race this morning with the T3/T4 tires just for Schlitz and giggles. With the same tuning restrictions as the race, I was able to get hotlaps a full second faster, and a race of 18:16 with a couple of seconds to come off. Yeah, the tires did start showing the wear in the 4th and 5th laps, but some of that could be tuned out too.

Until this race I hadn't spent any time in this Beast either, but have a new found respect for it, and the AI competition in this race was pretty good. Might be kinda fun to take it and race that entire series! :dopey: :D

THANX POKIE: 👍
:D Yeh, what I was REALLY trying to figure out was a way to "Handicap" a Series Race. Something along the lines of: The top 1/3 finishers get a handicap to SLOW them down a bit in the next race / the bottom 1/3 get an ajustment to help them go faster & the middle 1/3 get NO Adjustment at all. Then after that race all would be adjusted again. Probably WAY more work than it's worth, think I'll concentrate on finding phun races in Rides we seldom use!!! Personally I thought this "Ride" was a real "Hoot." If it would go on a severe Diet it could maybe be a "Contender." ...UB57 :D

Sorry for the late answer UB, but I've been out of town. :)

No apologies needed at all. It's your urge to experiment and make new and different races, that made this one both fun and developing. 👍 (And of course the the company of all that great racers. :D )

When it comes to getting more even races through handicapping, I must say that I personally don't fancy the idea of getting advantages just because of my slowness. I'm a competitive guy and enjoy the competition both against others, but also just as much against my self. To compare, I need times from both the other slow guys, but also from the fast guys.

We also had this handicap discussion in the weekly a couple of month ago. The slow guys participating in the discussion all preferred racing on equal terms. It's very nice of you to show consideration toward us, but I don't mind losing to someone faster than me. (Well, the lying is obviously, but you know what I mean. ;) ) And it's a bigger achievement for me ending within 10-20 seconds of guys like CFM and Phattboy in a race like this, than beating the hell out of them, because of different equipment.

Just wanted to share my opinions on this one, as all the other commenting on the issues falls in the category "fast guys". :scared:

I would like to end with adding that I too look forward to your next race. :D (please don't call it UB57's 20-Lapper though. )

Make that "medium-fast guys" for my part... There's several above me in both these races ;) (Now, if I could just find some "medium-fast girls" )

Seriously though NielsG I REALLY Appreciate your Participation & your Attitude!!!

I have both a 15-Lapper & a 20-Lapper "In the Pipe" & this time it looks like there will be NO Tuning Restrictions (except tyres)!!! It's a phun ride that really doesn't have a series of it's own, even if it's not so "Obscure" as the last two! "Hope" to get it "Launched" toward the end of next week.
THANX AGAIN 👍...UB57 :D

Oh well. I have a Rally series to run in the mean time:D
And I can go drive around in my avatar, too.:D:D:D

I was going to ask about a 20 lapper. Hope it's a good one!👍
:D Well....I "DID" have a "Great" one for about an hour! :irked: Loads of "traffic" that was relatively intelligent & NO Restrictions save for tyres on the set-up. I must have gotten VERY Quickly adapted to the "Ride" because the first time thru it was remarkably close. So I ran it two more times & by the third time it was a blow out of major proportions, :irked::irked: even on Harder Tyres! I will however try it at least one more time paying closer attention to the "AI" Line-up, maybe I'll find the "Golden Combo!"
Still have a good 15-Lapper "Almost" ready! 👍 ...UB57 :D
