Just tried my first 2 races ...it's going to be a phun race indeed! :D

Best lap so far is 1'32.2 :irked:

EDIT: 1'31.4 :D

So far, in my two runnings, I've managed a last palce, and a next to last place finish.

I'll hopefully have another few goes at this tomorrow. 1'33.3xx however most are in the 1'36 range.

and here I'm looking at many that are 5+ seconds faster than I. Ugh. Did I used to play this to relax?

I shall preservere

Heh. I know that feeling well...

Here's some tips that helped me:
  • Raise the rear.
  • Soften the front in just about every way.
  • Lotsa + toe in front, - toe out back.
  • Lotsa camber in front.
  • Stay off the gas going over the tracks - no matter what.

This may shorten the process for you, because I know we end up with basically similar settings usually. I've completed 3 races: two third places and a win. But what that doesn't mention is the umpteen-dozen starts that ended in a spin, or a wall slam, or serious AI contact, or...

Okay, I'm getting smoked by a GIRL!?

I quit! .....LOL

Thanks for a reason to end the torture Lotus. ;)

J/K, I'll submit a time still....... if I can get a clean one. :banghead:

Ok I've managed to get a pretty nice race done, best lap was 1'31.019

I'm not going to be submitting it as I have about 3 little wall touches throughout and I kind of barged my way through on the first turn :D Beat the AI by about 1.8 secs. Now all I gotta do is clean up my act 👍

Submitted my second clean race. Feels kind of stupid to call it clean, but it's inside the relaxed rules. Ending in 6'th place, but at least I'm getting pretty close to 5'th now. :banghead:

I'm lapping at approx. 1'35, but not very consistent. Ranging from 1'33.4 (no traffic) to 1'37.8 (stupid AI).

Just finished my best race yet,(well fastest anyways)although there is a tiny wall scrape near the end of lap 4(very slight) :banghead: .Finished the race about -3.000 MOV and managed to run my first sub 1:30.000 race lap 👍 :)
Will post my time/s to UB shortly

Pffft. Couldn't you have come up with a harder race, UB? This one's too easy - and that extra-special secret car? Pony mate, absolutely pony.

Just kidding. I cacked meself.

1'33.9, but my car isn't broken in yet. Might have to port me a fully-lubed example.

My AI grid was Denso Supra, Mystery Car, Castrol NSX, Raybrig NSX, CLK-DTM.

my car isn't broken in yet

Isn't it borcken in becuase you won it?

You had me for a second there:D

Excellent! Thanks for the tips Duke. I'll put them into effect shortly

NielsG has arrived. So now it's a three way shoot-out for last place tween Niels, Duke and I.

Good luck Guys,

We'll see you out there.

Terribly good question. I'm using one of my every-car garages, so it's conceivable that there's a glitch in mk's - which affects only this, the Astra DTM car and the Honda S2000 Race Car that I've found so far - where certain prize-only cars don't have pre-broken in engines. Either way, I know that the car I'm using isn't one I've won (without elaborating on the car, I can't tell you how I know that, but I'm sure you can guess).

Still, as it's breaking in, I got a 1'31.878 lap on my most recent (winning) race, with a field of CLK-DTM, Mystery Car, ARTA NSX, Denso Supra, Astra DTM...

:lol::lol: Unless you're a LOT Quicker than me you'd best get used to it!!! I've seen nothin' but lotus350's tail lites in Many an OLR. And if that's not enough her 13 year old ( Happy B'Day "Hugh Jeers") beats me regularly in the dirt as well!!! :banghead: 👍...UB57 :D

Leaderboard updated. Good to wake up to increased activity on the thread! 👍

Not One. Not one clean friggin race. I've been at it for 4 straight hours, trying to get a clean race. At first I spent a bit of time tweaking the settings. After about 45 minutes I realize those didn't matter, because the CLK and the Lister drove like they were on crack. When PD did the programming, they apparently forgot to tell the AI that all 5 cars can't fit through the pit stop chicane.

Seriously, it would have been better off blasting all six cars into that corner with a bazooka, and letting the outside wall sort out who should lead the remainder of the race. The city section was miserable. I've seen a ping pong ball bounce around less than the AI cars. I felt like I was trying to run through a snow storm and avoid the snowflakes.

I was rearended so hard at one point, while I was trying to thread the needle through that chicane, that I hit the first wall and bounced back, spinning sideways into the outside wall. Yet the friggin CLK barely registered any difference in path.

Sorry UB, but I can't do this one.

I cut 6+ seconds off my total time, 2+ seconds off my best lap, moved from 3rd to 1st in the race itself... and I'm still next to last in the standings.
Cheers, guys. My hat is off to you all.

Alex, use the "relaxed rules": basically, any contact initiated by the AI is acceptable (at least that's how I'm interpreting it). I'm being very aggressive in trying to stake my line, and they are turning into me all over the place, but I'm considering anything where some part of their car hits anything but the front of my car as Not My Fault. If I'm wrong on this, the stewards are welcome to bump my time, not that it will affect the standings any.

hey, sorry dude, but i wont be submitting for this race, my apologies.
after R/L and other OLR commitments, i just havnt had the time to win the car. im rather annoyed, cos i like these kind of races, lol, and it looks like you guys are enjoying yourselves. if you decide to run another race, count me in!
once again, sorry mate

Ditto that...been trying all week just to get a relativally clean run, even given the relaxed AI contact rules...

That'll be a DNF for me, too. :guilty:

That's how I interpret them too. And I also use the relaxed rule to wall kisses.

:dunce: Just re-read that now and discovered it was one pr. race and not one pr. lap. :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

Sorry everybody, but my 2 submitted races are not clean. Please delete them, UB57.

Hi Guys & Gal: Duke you are correct!!! I drive "In-Car" (where the "peripheral vision" isn't the best) & if I've already taken my line & the "AI" decides to cut across it they get "Smacked" & that's OK!!! 👍 As long as you don't "T-Bone" one of 'em because you drove too deep into the corner I consider ALMOST any "AI" Contact especially during the first Lap as "ACCEPTABLE." Hope this clears the air & will entice some of you to re-consider!
DerAlta & NoQuarter please check your PMs in a moment or two. ...UB57 :D

@ boone_501: Sorry to lose you mate! :(

EDIT: OK, I "Sought Out" a combo w/"Specified Foe" + Lister + Pennzoil + Supra + Raybrig NSX. WOW!!! What a GREAT Race!!! 👍 This is the race I was looking for all along :irked: Lots of lead swaps & "Fairly" intelligent "AI."

A "Possible" HINT that might help: I'm running w/out TCS & "Launching" @ Full Throttle in 2nd. Although I was prepared for a battle w/Lister I never saw him after the start & in fact "Dispatched" the Pennzoil car before the First left. Perhaps I'm getting a better than average start (for ME) w/this ride? Anyway, hope this helps...UB57 :D

   I couldn't agree more!!!

Only way I found through that point was either:

Wait just at the rear of the pack with a slight delay and on the power curve such that as they bounce back off the wall, shoot by them, hit the brakes just right and take the hit from behind as you slip into third place going around the sharp left. Unfortunately, the delay on launch costs you in first lap time leaving you at around a 1'38.xxx- 1'39.xxx. Pretty tough to make up to secure a good time in five laps.

OR...

Take fourth at launch prior to the chicane. There are several fields the AI presents where that can be done... For example: Big Dog, Penzoil, Skyline, Benz, Lister. In that field, you follow tight to the Penzoil at launch and wind up fourth through the chicane. Take the hit from the Skyline in the side before the chicane and the hit from the Benz in the butt as you go through the chicane. As the Penzoil bounces off the wall, you can slip by him and the Lister if you do it right and you end up chasing the Big Dog for nearly a lap. This is faster on first lap time but requires a lot of restarts to get it right and get it clean... Faster first lap to me is somewhere in the 1'36.xxx range.

I am to the point with this race I am so mad at it :irked: that I am going for a completely clean win. No hits- No runs- No errors. Not by AI to me and not by me to AI. If I get a good time and do okay in the OLR fine... so be it... I don't care about that part anymore... I just wanna prove sumthin to the AI I guess  This race is a trainer for sure.

EDIT: By the way... In case you haven't noticed yet the time stamps the game gives you seem to be different in different races. For example: The venues where all three NSXs show up or the venue with both Supras it seems you can achieve faster laps and subsequently faster race time than other venues. Some of that could be attributed to track placement by the chicane and therefore setting the stage for the balance of the race. I found one that I could pass all but the Lister before the chicane, cranked out a 1'36.low first lap and couldn't get below 1'32.mid to save my soul for the remaining laps. Switched to the three NSX where I couldn't pass anyone before the chicane, cranked out a 1'38.mid first lap and then ran subsequent laps consistent 1'31.xxx.

Driver error you say? How dare you question that! I think not! Dumb game I think!

Actually UB, you would load the one of four different races with the Lister I have found that he is a wus! I wonder what are the odds that would be the one you would get when you finally find him?

:D Odd as it seems I get this "Match-up" at least 90% of the time:

The "Specified" Ride
Tom's Supra
Castrol NSX
Tickford Falcon
Mercedes CLK

& throughout testing (I Started w/a 2 steps "Softer" Tyre) it's the one that almost always loaded! I thought it was yielding a "Just Win-able" Race w/some "AI" contact but seems I've missed that Goal. :( :dunce: :indiff:

I'm "Amazed" at the difference between reported total Race Times & "MOV" however.:eek::eek: There seems to be NO Correlation at all between the two.
Guess I need to do more research before Posting another Challenge. :( ...UB57 :D

 You realize you actually have yielded a "Just Win-able Race w/some AI contact" and I for one have been having an awful lot of fun with it. :D

As for the research... Guess I'm not so sure about that. Even with more research, I'm not entirely sure things would change :D Perhaps you might have gotten to a point of identifying a completely specific lineup and order of that lineup. Still, with AI contact between each other as well as between you and AI combined with a race that is run this close for at least one-two laps and then rubberbanding back in later laps, you are bound to have some differences even there in Race Times VS MOV.

EDIT: BTW it might only be three lineups with the Lister that I have found anyway... I was mostly being rhetorical in my statement trying to be funny :D

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

As of 1700 Hrs CDT / 21 June 04 the "Site" is really acting up & may in fact be down for a few days to change over to a new server. If this in Fact occurs the deadline for submissions will be extended. THANX 👍...UB57 :D

It's not a surprise. If you hang back on 5th's tail for 4 laps then go all-out on the final lap, you can net a staggeringly high time, yet a close MoV.

The AI speeds up when you're ahead of them and slows down when you're behind.

Try my "Worst Car Wins", for ultimate proof of this.

You're Right-on there Famine: 👍
:D I was fooled by obtaining times that seemed to "Fit" during my test sessions into believing I'd found a Race where the "AI" drove more consistantly & didn't "Rubber Band" like they do most everywhere else! :banghead:
BTW: You've got the "Slimmest" MOV posted so far, hoping your Race was as much phun as the margin indicates! 👍 ...UB57 :D

Just now able to log back in... took awhile for us folks in the schticks! :)

BTW... I tried hanging back for kicks to see just how much they slowed down. Actually for nearly 30 seconds at the start. I caught the field at the chicane on the fourth lap and suddenly couldn't hardly keep up again. Did manage a third place.

This race is actually a HOOT!!!

First time submitted so far. FL in my save was a 1:30.991. That was before I had run a personal best 1:31.3xx. I forgot to add that I'm using a MOMO and driving MT. Back at it phor some more phun!

Even better time just now submitted. I think I may be done. If I have the time tomorrow, I'll some more but this last run is pretty fast for me.
