I copped UB57's settings from all the way back in post #10. That got me those 26 seconds overall.

On that run, I drove pretty conservatively. But still 1'33's are the fast laps for me. I imagine if I was running consistent 1'33's I'd be a lot closer to the pack at race end, if not in their midst.

anglex was saving his run w/Sharkport & noticed he had tyres fiitted which were "Too Soft." He notified me 👍 & re-ran the race w/correct tyres. Just one MORE Reason I think you're all a GREAT Bunch to be Racin' with!!!

I did that once, using the stock tires. Interestingly enough my fast lap was about 1.mid" faster, but my overall time was no better at all. The two laps each cycle on dying and dead tires were hideously bad, whereas the hard tires give much more consistant times even if they are not ultimately as good.

I had a race that was looking like a keeper, no wall touches laps 1-5, one kiss on lap 7, and no touches laps 10-14. Then, like a total cretin, I kissed the wall twice in the narrow section before the final turn onto the S/F straight, while trying to pass the Arta NSX for 1st place on the last lap.
Finished 1.9s behind in 2nd place, fastest lap is 1'32.4xx and I'm lapping fairly consistently in the high 1'32 to low 1'33 region.... though I'm being a little cautious to avoid scraping paint off on the Armco.
Going to have to go an get a clean run now.....Smeg.

I've just hit my first saveable race after countless restarts, and not too sure I'll go back for more even knowing that I left over 10 seconds out on the track. By the 6th lap I was still good (clean) and fast, soz I backed off a tad to get one in the bank. I still took "advantage" of the one wall tap per tire stint rule tho. The AI do not drive the best lines, but they are predictable so they are not much of a problem.

My tires at pit in were a solid yellow front/ green rears. After both pit stops, I exit in second place, but was quickly passed to 4th on lap 6 before the first turn (back into second place by the second turn ). My biggest problem spot on this track is the slight left hand "kink" in the middle of the last sector, approaching the final turn . I've never been able to develope a consistant brake/turnin point for that one! Anywhere from 110 mph to 120+ thru that spot, which translates to a full second gained or lost in that one turn alone!

On the up side, I did finish with 10 laps of 1:30.8xx or better, and a MOV of 41.718 seconds over the Denso. 👍 As always, I'll post all details and a replay after the deadline

Well, I had put together a nice run with a lap time down in the 32.888 region. Figuring if I'm on my mark, and doing well, that'd put me about 3 seconds behind slowpoke. Hmmm... That's fast for my first run.

Why are my tires red at the first pit? Well, I'm running heavy camber and really going hard through the corners. Probably chewing them hard through the fast corners.

That's really odd though....

Nuts, checked the replay, I'm running mediums.

So it's back to the race I go. This time on the right tires. [edit] New time, this time I managed a 4th place finish, with an MOL of 10.496seconds. Fast lap has now dipped into the 1'32 range.

OK, finally got a time submitted for a clean run, still lapping in the 1'32.xxx region, but lapping consistently, so I'm not expecting to grab a podium place.

Got 1st place with MOV of 5.065s over Denso Supra now.

Parents arrive from England tonight for a 3 week vacation so I'm done with this one now.

Will post MAX drive replay in results thread, and will PM eggman to make the conversion to X-port file for the rest of y'all!

I'm higher up than I thought I was going to be. I was alot more consistant in that run than my previous one, but my best lap wasn't as good, and I ended up just over 1 sec faster but still in 4th place. Best lap in my posted run was a 1'32.0xx (Best ever 1'31.4xx)

Didn't get a clean finished race yet, but I'm getting mostly 1:31.xxx laps. I went straight to the race last night, and the furthest I made it was to Lap 7 before DQ'ing myself, so I better try a few Free Run laps tonight to refine the line.

I've suddenly become very busy, UB, so I'm not going to be able to improve my time. I had a lot of fun with this race, and would echo Niels' request for really long deadlines on these kinds of races.

OK, I've put forward my best time. At the moment I've run 6 times. Slowest ends with a 28.XXX, fastest is 23.XXX. This means that my averages have all been between 1'37.9 and 1'37.5.

Over 90 laps, that means I've not improved since starting this run.

At least this means I'm running consistent.

The family is in town tomorrow night, so my time is up. Excellent race UB! Looking forward to the next one.

I cut off 7 secs and was pretty sure I fulfilled my goal to kick your butt in this one. Unfortunately it had 2 wall touches in lap 4 and I couldn't submit. Now I can see it wasn't enough anyway. It only would have beaten your slowest race.

I'll give it one more try though, but even if I manage to get my 5'th clean race, I doubt I will get you this time. But: THERE WILL BE OTHER RACES!

Just had one where I was 2 seconds ahead of my best @ Lap #5, 4 seconds ahead @ Lap #10 & then my DFPro "Glitched" 1/2 way thru Lap #14! puttin' me in the Wall! Oh well, gonna try it a few more times before the deadline ...UB57

I'm just about to submit my last time. It was my 5th race. I would've finished 3rd but made an arse of me last lap and had to settle for 4th (again).

This marks my first ever challenge done entirely from 1st person view. I was always outside the the car before.

I've attempted the race at least 50 times now, logging over 400 miles. I did manage last night to get to lap 11 for the 1st time, but realized I didn't pit on lap 10. Started to feel like I should just go apply for a labotomy and save us all the trouble.
On the bright side, they let me out of the office a bit early today, so I have a good 4 hours to keep trying.

Not for lack of trying! Ran this a bunch of times, but just couldn't do 15 clean enough. I find too many different ways to screw up when I push it a little. Best laps were 1:32.5ish, and I had a number of fourth place finishes, but always a touch or two too many. Gave it one last attempt, grandma style, and thought I would finish clean, but clipped the armco inside that last left, which of course kicked the rear end around just enough for another touch on the right! And that run was a solid 6th, and 30 secs slower than my best time. Had a good time with it anyway, though the tendency of the AI to pass me on the straight and then overbrake in the next corner got a bit annoying. Not a criticism, but just some feedback: for a 15 lap race I'd prefer a track where the walls were less inviting.

Me Too!!! But the "AI" drives REALLY Poorly at most of the "Natural Courses", (especially Laguna Seca! ), but I'm always lookin' for a Good Race. 💡 Thanx...UB57
