UK:Gran Turismo Sport on track to be No.1 PS4 exclusive of the year in sales

Unlike @Huzar, I'll admit when I'm wrong and that I don't really follow the sales data and numbers so if VGChartz isn't a good source then I'll redact the statement. It was the only thing I found with numbers which is why I used it, didn't know they were not accurate.


That's a bold statement. Wasn't GT6 the worst selling entry yet? IMO, there's no way GTS doesn't outsell GT6. Whenever the numbers do come out I think you'll find you're sorely wrong. But by then I'm sure you'll come up with something new about how GTS is a "flop"

It's also already quite down in Japan, and there are numbers out each week proving that. Selling less than GT6, yep mega success or flop?

We're getting on for almost 2 months since GT Sport released.

We know it's set to be the biggest PlayStation exclusive in the UK, and will sell between 400K-500K this year. It's now performing well in Europe, returning to the top five in France, Germany etc. At the very least it looks like GT Sport will top GT6's 6m......I personally think it'll be nearer 8m.

Not sure why the comparison with Forza and install base. In the US install bases are similar, and as it turned out, launch month sales where similar. In other markets, sales reflected install base (or better). In the UK GT Sport sold over 3x FM7 launch week.....today it's an even higher ratio. At an extreme, FM7 sold 4K in Japan (launch week), while GT Sport now stands at 198K.

What don't you get ? forza sales are down from 360 generation due to its user base being cut in less then half. Not because of some racing games selling less excuses. 360 PS3 sold more or less the same, yet GT5 still more than doubled the sales of the highest selling Forza. Brand strength wise GT is on top, though i wonder how much the one two punch from GT6 and now GTsport has damaged that.

And the ps4 has less than half the user base than the ps3 did when GT6 came out. And GT sport is also outselling EVERY other racing game to have come out this generation in terms of sales, Milouse states there are 1,200,000 registered players meaning GT sport has AT LEAST sold 1.2 million copies , this was before the big black Friday boom (mouse speculates some copies are Christmas presents and haven't been opened, for obvious reasons) . If GT sport is a flop then so is project cars and Forza. IF so Microsoft would be dropping out of the console business as Forza is its best selling XBOX one franchise and is obviously profitable. GT sport is outselling NFS payback too. The oldest racing game franchise ( unless you count Mario cart)

Remember gran turismo is on only PlayStation platforms. To compares to other racer is mulitplate that on console/pc like forza or pc,nfs. GTS able out sell them by margin even with worst reviews and get hate on.
