Well yes, hence why I said I support their work. It just angers me that they need to exist not what they do.
OK, I misunderstood.

Now time for another one of my unpopular opinions... Trying not to sound overly edgy, Finland is actually pretty overrated. Not in the sense of quality of life (not yet anyway) but how many other independent first world states can you name that are too damn broke to even properly maintain their basic services like police stations, hospitals, schools and postal offices? The small communities are dying as services are being concentrated more and more in the biggest cities, and I thoroughly and whole-heartedly hate it. The national debt continues to grow, and I for sure know that I won't be at all interested in paying a cent of it because idiots who were voted in before I was of age decided to go down that path.

You mean you don't love your socialism?

I'm shocked!

:D

Days that celebrate your country are unnecessary.

In a trolley problem, I would let the 5 people die. I think there is a difference between letting people die and making someone die. If I had the power to make someone lose their life, I wouldn't use it and just let it flow normally and let people die because if I wasn't there, the 5 people would've died anyway.

A better way to put this is through using a common scenario: you're in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway, on your left is a motorcyclist and on your right is a family car full of people, behind you in all 3 lanes is regular traffic and you're travelling at the highway speed limit. Directly ahead is an HGV which has just slammed on it's brakes and you have 2 seconds to swerve left or right. Either way somebody dies.

The problem is that you aren't a synthesised intelligence, and the trolly problem these days has it's biggest application in selfdriving 'synthesised intelligence' cars.

Put simply, because a self driving car is programmed to make certain decisions, lacking the AI to make them itself, it's down to the programmer of the 'synthesised intelligence' to conclude who lives and who dies.

A wild ethical dilemma appears!

2 seconds wouldn't be enough time for me to react, so either the car reacts on its own and kills someone to save my life or I die because I couldn't turn.

Alien 3 was as good as Alien 1 & 2, just in a very different way & pace which is why -sadly- a lot of people don't get it.

I liked it. I like all the Aliens movies and I'm really looking forward to the Prometheus follow up.

Like @W3HS I liked the film and much more than the sill prequel nonsense. I'm happy they didnt let Fincher do the Wooden Ark in space idea.

Also better a prison planet than a monastery as some of the early plans were proposing.

I absolutely hate mechanical pencils. They're so fragile comparing to other pens.
Depends how you want to use them.

If you're looking to replace pens, sure, but if you actually want a pencil for they're a good alternative simply because you don't have to sharpen them which is the most tedious task on Earth.

well, sharpening pens is fun to me. I like it when the line is stronger.

I only use mechanical pencils. I hate having to sharpen woods pencils. Mechanical pencils are more precise and better in everyway.

Well, let's say that everyone has individual writing style lol

My drawing classes make me use both and both have their pros and cons. I like mechanical pencils because my caligraphy improves a lot because I have to write lighter not to break the tip. I like wooden pencils because I love the feel of them when writing, it fits me better and it's a lot more confortable

If you find mechanical pencils too fragile, either you're pushing too hard or the lead is sticking out too much.
How soft do you have to press though.

I'm a pen person myself when it comes to drawing but what I hate about mechanical pencils is that in order to use them I have to lose a lot of grip for them to work and they go all slip sliding, granted it could be that I hold my hold my pens/pencils not the usual way (four fingers on the top separate and my thumb at the bottom near the front) and the mechanical pencils is simply not compatible with how unusual my holding style and is probably made for the "right way" to hold pens and pencils.

I lasted through all my high school and college years using mechanical pencils that other people left behind in classrooms, combining the extra lead and swapping to good erasers as needed. I still use what's left of those.

The only thing I don't like about mechanical pencils is when I end up with a squeaky lead, which makes my skin crawl just like nails on a chalkboard.

Regular pencils are better for drawing, sketching, and measuring; the odor is oddly conducive to "work". But mechanical ones are superior for travel when you need a usable lead without fuss nor mess. Mechanical pencils seem to permit quick shading by allowing a nice angled/chisel shape in a hurry.
