Update 1.03 (Released - January 14th)

That article seems to have been written on the basis that Quick Match and Community were in pre 1.01.

So basically, they are trying to make something most of us knew into some sort of news.

Wouldn't they announce a maintence? Then update would be announcee?

Yes. Ninja updates are for small things, but they are probably trying to get as much as they can in this 1.03 update in order to build foundation for as long time as possible.

Also, the Mercedes glitch didn't help as well and today there are probably be few upset people at PD since the new CFW debugger code allowed for GT6 code-base to be read (read as "most welcome to hacking again").

@avens Because you are not happy enough about 1.200 cars? That's true that there are hundreds of copies of the same car, but actually u got lot of variabilities...
This game just need some more aged cars like the Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage or M1 Procar, but overall it's the most complete carlist ever made on a videogame and maybe more...

I always want more content. That's the sole reason why I play and like this franchise.

Though the following is my rant on the car number (no
tag here afaik):

By using the current standard, which is only counting premiums (2/3 less already) and that aren't duplicates, Forza4 is the game that has that title you mentioned.

Otherwise anything could earn titles as big as that, by using 1997 quality content that's very easy and cheap to make these days. Any game can have several thousands or dozens of characters, cars and whatnot....if it is atari 2600 2d sprites or reusing content that's decades old.
Imagine if capcom in ultra SF4 were to have 20 versions of ryu and of each character with the original SF2 and the rest sprites to say their 2014 game has the biggest roster ever. That's what PD does to boost the numbers, as silly as it sounds.

Here's the GT6 car list: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...remium-semi-premium-and-standard-cars.295180/
- 1238 cars...in reality 443 and out of those several are duplicates, not a car that should count.
- PD advertised that for GT6 was updating all cars to be premium quality just some without interiors. In reality out of about 800 only 152 were updated to this non interiors state, leaving 643 with the interior and exterior quality of their respective games, including 1997 GT.
- In GT6 there are 165 new cars, 2013 standard. 'The other franchise' was severely criticized for having 202, which is also now compensating via DLC unlike GT6. But these are all things people here don't or don't want to notice then brag about car count :P

I would not be surprised if the update 1.03 was released only in 13th january because the corvette c7r and c7 z06 will be unveiled in this day at the Detroit Motor Show :)

That would be nice. I would love to have the new Z06. But first PD MUST fix the tire width glitch. Most cars are useless to me if I can't change the wheels.

i hope they correct the totally busted lighting, especially in the cockpit view

Of the 60+ cars I have I must say at least 50 of them have a completely black out dashboard in most tracks with strong daylight. I've gotten used to it, but sometimes it can be annoying since I have to keep the HUD always on. As a 100% cockpit user, in GT5 at least I could rely on the gauges without the need of the HUD, making the cockpit view actually functional. In GT6 it's just a novelty :/

So what was the topic? Ah, yes...

Quoting a Gran Turismo fan site is like me going on here and saying, "Update 1.04 will have space shuttles" and the New York Times citing me as a factual source.

My goodness Polyphony Digital at least say something, or try to keep up with your release dates. At least say sorry, or is it the hardest word? What a sad, sad situation. Its getting more and more absurd...

Well, actually GT6 standard cars haven't 1997 quality... I think 1.02 updated some liveries, like C6's and/or C5's Vette Racing car... Much more cleaner and defined...
And if u look well, to notice any difference u still have to go on the replay and zoom in really close in lot of them... So atm they just change for the definition of cockpit view (open vehicles) or dark cockpit (close vehicles)...

In conclusion, if you don't consider the cockpit view and the copies of the same car, there aren't only 400 cars, but more (I don't see any Mitsubishi 3000 GTO or Pagani Zonda other than R on Premium when they actually are all only in standard, for example. And for example, i can say half of the Alfa Romeo models are standard and still don't have any Premium counterparts, so need to include them on the 400+ carlist)...

I would be so happy if this thread didn't get bumped again until the actual update was out. I know...wishful thinking.

I would like it if they renamed the title to "Update 1.03 Pre Release discussion" and renamed it to "Update 1.03 Post Release Discussion" when it came out. That way it would probably confuse less. Although you can just check the GTP News section as that area usually puts something out the instant something in GT6 happens.

Granted it would be nice to change the wheels on any and all cars without issue and some of the stock wheels are fugly but to say they are useless is a wildly exaggerated claim.

All the cars which may suffer a performance hit from custom wheels can be driven with the stock wheels without issue and many if not most cars have no issue with the custom wheels so to say most cars are useless is far from the truth

I was finishing writing that post a bit. Please look at the provided link, which proves less than 20% of "standards" were updated to this "semi-premium" quality, which in itself isn't as good as what we expect but it's something ("premium" interiors).

The other thread is this https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/standards-the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly.291012/page-59

It's useless mostly because of the visual glitch. Performance wise, it's not really a big problem as I've noticed so far. I spend most of the time enjoying replays and taking pictures. A car which I cannot give my personal touch or that has skinny wheels at the rear when it shouldn't, makes me not want to touch it. I'm a bit obsessive compulsive, so if I know there is a problem that shouldn't be there, that doesn't let me enjoy the car at full.

I must admit that it was a bit hard to watch the replays of my Lotus Elise after fitting custom wheels. I did not know about the issue at the time but I noticed those skinny little rear tires right away, just didn't look right at all.

I still enjoyed driving the car and won more races in it than any other. It was a bit tail happy but fun. I have since went back to stock wheels on it but I still have it painted Blue Chrome ;)

Call me crazy but I got a feeling he and his crew have been on GTP and have read the many complaints about issues were having. Taking these into account and making the changes to the more important ones.

I just hope triple monitor support comes with the next update. ;)

The new Elise? I got that car for the One Make, and changed the wheels on it. The rear wheels literally looked like cookies! Absolutely awful  However, I was surprised that this car drove so well that it made me doubt that the tire width glitch actually affects performance.
