Used cars dealership in Gran Turismo 7

That is because UCD in those games are on per-manufacturer basis (you can only get cars for each specific manufacturer for each dealership) while in GT4 and GT5 it is universal.
Right. I mentioned that in an earlier post
Had a look through past UCDs. If this game is similar to GT4, I can see an 80s, 90s, 00s UCD cycle. Throw in the 70s and earlier cars as rare to find. To me, keep the prices low enough to obtain and it'd be better for casual players to buy when they pop up.

(already known and probably mentioned a few times)GT Sport, initially, seemed to cut cars off at 2009->2017. I think the same could apply. 2010->current in the NCD.

When it comes to race cars, I'm thinking those should be separate from the UCD.

GT2 UCD organised by dealer

PD could still change it up, by rotating cars available.

You're the type to ignore process and only look at results? (or you genuinely don't know how GTS was at release?) GTS eventually reached higher numbers at 2019 (the report of it being sold 8 million units), and at that time there were already several offline and old content updates, it now has significantly more road/production cars and an offline mode such as GT League (don't think it's anything good, just probably it can be a draw for some to buy). GTS after many updates are quite different to GTS at release (which was what I refer), and a good number of updates are old content seen in more typical GT to draw in the playerbase that longed for older GT experience (particularly offline go-ers).

Why is it irrelevant? I mean really GT7 was made as something not only racing even in the official description of the game itself - "Whether you’re a competitive racer, collector, fine-tuning builder, livery designer, photographer or arcade fan – ignite your personal passion for cars with features inspired by the past, present and future of Gran Turismo™" and I was pointing that out. It wasn't only talking/listing about competitive racer only.

You only know present GTS and not GTS at release? I know the different opinons that people had formed on the game between GTS at release and present GTS (which seems to be the only one you refer to), and the process on how it can improve people's opinion about the game.

That's actually my point of using another solution to deal with those. All of those are what I want too (and I talked about GT6 being minimized as a game as complaint, it has events half GT4's numbers, also less than GT3). I always wanted for GT events to make use of as much cars as possible (and at least also varying levels like GT3 had - prefer GT2 format of listing though, so events like FR Challenge aren't merely some starter events).

At least for cars being matched with a field of appropriate cars, GTS Arcade iirc now gives rewards (Cr, etc.) after complelting a race. The AI problem though applies to any aspect of the game, not only player career. That's already obvious they should be improved that I won't need to bring that up.

What I want as well in GT. They've only touched upon this a bit in GT4's Arcade cars and GT6's Recommended Cars, but never really committed in it. Would make car division easier as well instead of listing every cars such as NASCAR race in GT6, if not for events determined by car year (like Historic Racing Car Cup) or country (like Schwarzwald Liga), and can open up aformentioned events easier like Kei (where otherwise I'd thought of Kei event in Japanese Events like GT4 or such) or SUV (where GT2 had the likes of Station Wagon Cup but obviously, as it's only given hp limit then you can use any type of cars).
It appears that things are set up this way in the new 'GT Cafe' , see for example Japanese Compact Cars:

Bear in mind this is just collecting vehicles. Whether this translates to race series -- we shall see, but it would definitely make sense.

Additionally, with the FiA sponsorship they could in theory do bona fide touring car classes etc (beyond generic "Gr" grouping)...which could be integrated into tuning (as TCR has to be upgraded from a basic road car), so you could 'spec up' say a Honda Civic to become a touring car...but I'm probably getting ahead of myself.

So we've pretty much confirmed that the UCD is just like the old games and nothing like the Forza Auction like in the earlier posts were talking about? I think that would be a terrible idea to have a Forza Auction type thing in the game. I just want classic GT.

I can't say I'm particularly fond of the auction house in Forza, but I think if you had he in game UCD where you bought cars set by the game for fixed prices, you could have an auction house type system to buy and sell palyer owned and modified cars along side that. It doesn't appear that anything like that is happening, the UCD in GT7 appears to be closest to GT5's used car system IMO but with two obvious differences.

Unlike GT5 it'll feature car models of the same standard as the rest of the game, and unlike GT5 the majority of cars won't be locked into it. But like GT5 it appears to be a single location and it also appears that it will update each day (if that's in game day or actual console clock day I'm not sure).

Yeahp, it's gonna be like that, and Brighton Antiques also works that way. But the real problem lies on how the lineup of cars change, whether it's in-game time, or real time.

I was hoping each of the three dealerships (or just Brighton Antiques) had an auction option so that you could buy and sell cars like as you would in Forza's Auction House.

Maybe it's like GT4 where it updates after a race or two.

Given this game is supposed to be online, I have a feeling it'll update once per real day. Which means people that get a late start at the game may not start out with the car you did. Should be interest nonetheless.

Once per day would be generous. I'm expecting once per week or two.

Well if as it seems there are only going to be around 100 unique used cars and ~20-30 of them appear at a time it's not going to be too big a deal. Certainly not like GT5 where there was 800 and only 30 at a time.

There will likely be a handful of cars that don't show up as often, whether these will be limited to Brighton Antiques or not is yet to be seen. Brighton Antiques could operate more like the online dealer in GT5 where it's a pre-set selection of cars that updates in real time not game time or it could just be an extension of the UCD where it simply sells a smaller selection of rarer cars and updates in game time like the UCD.

It would be nice if it all cars were always available, but not necessarily at a reasonable price. I think for a game where people are supposed to be enjoying driving cars it's not super good design to have those cars only periodically available for short amounts of time. If I get to late game and I have lots of money it sucks not to be able to drive a car that I want to because the UCD happened to chuck the car up on Day 3 before I could afford it and now it doesn't come up again until Day 1572.

A tradeoff could be that every so often one shows up for significantly less than "normal" price, and if you watch the used car markets or just happen to stumble across it then you get a bargain. Imagine if 20 million credit cars occasionally showed up for 15 million. In a balanced economy both of these would be reasonably affordable without saving up for months, but you still get the excitement of finding a great deal.

I get that view, but we'll have to see how it works. Personally, I don't mind the collection aspect and not having every car availalble at once, but it has to be reasonable, for example the 20m Cr cars were unreasonable in previous games as it took far too long to grind for that amount of credits.

Likewise if a rare car takes over 1500 races before it reappears that's unbalanced, it should be far more frequent than that, and they should stay availalbe for long enough that if you're at the right stage of the game to be able to reasonably purchase a car of that value, you could get the required credits before if disappears again.

But if they don't appear for unreasonably long lengths of time than IMO you're better off locking rare cars as prizes for late game events than just making them that scarce, which just artificially making them too hard to obtain (a-la 20m Cr cars).

I don't think we're going to see every car availalbe in the dealers, but your idea to have that and then cheaper versions turn up used has merit as an alternative.

It'd be something like GT4 I guess, where there are Classics/Legendary Cars. GT7 is doing that too, but isn't providing those cars brand new, but in used way as well, while being given privilege like GT4.

That can be implemented in the new dealership too, and I do want to see some occassional bargains/changes that can happen for the cars in either dealership.

The brief clip of Brighton Antiques show five cars with low miles. Early days for that clip, the menu could change:

Doesn’t appear to show a slider for more choices. If it’s a selection like Mileage exchange, with say 30-40 cars, how long until updates? If players are brand loyal and want to use a Shelby G.T.350 for a classic Muscle Car or classic PP race, how long for the wait to acquire one?

Of course, I'm here to say that it'd be greatly preferable for the entire used car scheme to never return. It's one of the most frustrating mechanics in the series, and GT3 and GT6 are substantially better games for not having it.

Even now, there is no guide to used cars in GT1 (not that it needs one as much) or GT2, and the GT4 guide is locked away in Google Docs land. I'd like to make at least a GT2 one at some point.

That being said, what I saw in that video seems substantially more civilized than usual. The whole GT Cafe thing may actually solve this problem altogether. We shall see.

Something in that image of the Used Car Dealer - the Fit that is available in the Cafe mode, also appears in the used dealer, top left.

So, maybe the Cafe offers brand new, zero mileage examples of used cars, rather than having the old special weeks with the 6.2 mile cars of GT4?

It‘s odd because, according to the UCD criteria https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-7-booklet-20211217/, it’s post 2010. Definitely an early build, but shouldn’t be in the UCD.

The GT Cafe is not a dealership.

What we’re getting at is, will the cars we collect, have zero miles or be used? I posted in the UCD thread, it’s odd to see the Fit in the UCD, when it should be in the NCD according to its model year . The Fit should have zero miles when acquired.

I don't think it matters where the car is purchased from.

Well, if past iterations of the game are any indication, it matters insofar as you will need an oil change, an engine overhaul and a body rigidity restoration depending on the mileage, if you buy it in the UCD.

I think @ScottPye20 means, "it doesn't matter where you get the car from, you still get a tick on your menu in GT Café."

From what's been shown, it appears GT Café offers incentives for collecting groups of cars, and it may be somewhat similar to recent Forza games' Car Collection sections, a big sticker book for all the cars in the game, not a fifth (or sixth?) place to buy cars from.

Given the build that is in the Japanese flyer is a bit newer than what already know (and that a Toyota Aqua, a 2011 model year car, is also visible), there might be leeway on what model years can are purchasable from Brand Central and UCD. After all, the Audi TT Coupe 1.8T quattro '00 could be purchased from both in GT4; there are also cases where 2002/2003 cars in GT4 are in UCD instead.

I don't see why it can't be in both. The text just says that the UCD is where you'll find 80s and 90s cars but obviously that isn't ALL you'll find there, since we know there are older cars than that which will be in there. So no reason used versions of newer cars won't also be in there.

I don’t think anyone is saying it can’t. I know I’m just going off what was relayed about the pre & post years. If post cars are available “used”, that’s not going to bother me. Some of us are trying to decipher the number of cars that will possibly be in the UCD. If newer cars increase what’ll be on offer, we all win.

Going to love searching through the UCD for that 240ZG, Shuichi Shigeno 86, M3 '89 and Testarossa. That initial 1.5mil Cr. from the pre-order, will come in handy. First, I'll have to get the Gr.4 Supra, but after that, for me, any car under 2020, I'll be buying used.

Personally don’t care much for the UCD, would rather have all cars available in a normal shop with 0 km (realism be damned in this instance, everything ain’t perfectly realistic anyway), even if that’s illogical in some sense.

After all, GT tracks how many kilometres/miles you’ve driven and I do think that’s a very fun and interesting statistic. When it starts off at 30,668 km as the Corvette ZR-1 (C4) ’90 in the screenshot above I’d have to manually keep track of the distance I’ve run with it since acquiring it, despite the game having a built-in mechanism tracking distance driven. To me this is stupid.

A solution could be a separate statistic yet to be seen that tracks the distance you’ve covered in the car, despite it having heavy mileage since before. I seriously doubt that’s in the game though.

But the real problem lies on how the lineup of cars change, whether it's in-game time, or real time.
My hypothesis is that it could go either way, but when you first visit it, it'll be always set to show the three compact cars you'll pick from for your first car. It'll always let you pick from the Mazda Demio XD, the Toyota Aqua S, and the Honda Fit Hybrid when you first boot it up, no matter what day it is. But perhaps to other players who have further progressed in the game, their UCDs will all look the same, and yet different from the player who's entering the UCD for the very first time.

Then there's the potential question of how cars added in content updates will be integrated into the UCD, as well as the normal dealerships and the legendary car dealership. Personally, I think PD has this planned from the get-go, where there'll be a date further down the line, sometime after a content update, where the UCD is planned to include at least one car that wasn't in the game at launch.
