VCRC vintage & low power :: Sunday 3pm GMT / 10am US EST

Some nice swooping corners to catch some four wheel drifts, I think Apricot Hill is a fine choice.
Then Apricot Hill it is!

The car seems to like the track, judging by racing there on Tuesday.

Matterhorn I got stuck on the hill.
And Silverstone seemed a little too hair raising.

And Brands Hatch I'm thinking might be a nice choice for the Toyota 2000GT. 💡
But I'm open to other suggestions. Including Matterhorn. :D

So who's in for Sunday peeps?

Yeah, timed to come in at just under 1 hour for the actual race time.
15 minute qualifier starting at approximately 5 minutes after the hour.

WARNING: YOU CANNOT JOIN THE RACE IF YOU DO NOT ARRIVE IN TIME TO GET IN THE TRACK FOR QUALIFYING.

The race starts automatically directly after qualifying.

So it's important to
  • let me know if you plan on being there
  • add me to your friends list in advance of the event time
  • be on time
  • let us know if you're expecting to arrive cutting it close
  • know that because of the need to stay on schedule, we can't hold up the start of qualifying because someone hit snooze on their alarm too many times :sly:

Oh, and I mean me too.
If for some reason I was MIA at the event time (for some reason beyond my control), not signed on & no room, I expect someone else to pick up the baton, make the room, and carry on with the event without me. (You would need to make the room public instead of friends only, and post the room number here.)

But my goal is to be on with the room made by 15 minutes before the hour (or earlier).

I'd also like to race on Sunday, work permitting as usual. Haven't driven this car yet, really looking forward to it. I think it's in my garage already as a prize car.

I think I should be able to make it Sunday if you have room for another?

I will have to send you a FR from my new GT6 game since I'm running it on a different PS3 console from my GT5 games.

So if you see a FR from GTsail9, its me!:)

Thanks,
GTsail

If you're logged in under the same PSN ID you shouldn't have to send a new FR. I started GT6 on a new console from what my GT5 was on (figured that machine could be retired after 3 years of hard GT5 service) but when I logged the new PS3 into my PSN ID it brought all my "friends" over. 👍

Okay we are 7 so far... and possibly 2 people who just don't post on the forum.
So there's room for more. 👍

I guess if it's a new PSN name I will have to add it?
I'll know who it is by the GTsail. :D No matter the number.
Which of the old accts are you not using anymore so I can remove them to make room on the FL?

I had a freeze up mid-race yesterday. The screen froze w/ the picture of the track. First time that happened. :nervous: I was in 1st place (naturally!), and that better never happen in a long race.

GT6 has caused my PS3 to freeze up or crash more times than all other games combined.....multiplied by 10. Every time we have a micro-update the PS3 locks up after it's done installing and I have to force quit it.

ha - this is the perfect example of a post I might've hit the like button on and then maybe that would seem wrong/rude.

Thanks for sharing that.
I haven't had that issue with the updates (micro or otherwise) that I've noticed.

The other thing that's happened w/ the PS3 is this... I was playing gt6, and had quit out of it. Nothing else had occurred on the ps3 in between, it was just on the main screen. Oh, maybe I'd transferred some photomodes to a usb stick. But that's it. No other apps were opened. But the gt6 disc was still in the ps3. And I'd plugged in the controller to recharge.
My spouse tried to change the sign in from being signed in as me... and everything was locked. At first the thought was that the controller was dead - but it was plugged in so that shouldn't have been the prob.
Unplugged controller, but still everything was froze.
Had to hard reboot the ps3. And when it started up it had to do that file system check nonsense.

Otherwise, I've had a problem once of having buttons not working when I went out of bounds on a time trial seasonal. Like I couldn't exit the track, until I got back onto the track within the track boundaries.

I couldn't really say that I've had more problems with gt6 than with gt5, overall. Just that the problems I've had are more strange and varied. Most of what I had in gt5 was black screen. With gt6, I seem to be getting a variety of things.

Oh, like the other thing... first time I was online in a room racing... in track, the driving line appeared on the track in practice AND in the race, despite my having it turned off in my options AND disallowed in the room settings!!
It happened again the other day. Just for one race... it was allowed in the room, but turned OFF in my options... and there was the driving line showed up in the race. :boggled:

I find the driving line SOOO distracting that if that happened during an endurance race, I think I would have to resign from the race. I couldn't drive with that driving line on for an hour. It would turn me into a nuisance to others at worst, and at best I wouldn't enjoy myself.
I'm hoping that if it was going to occur it would be seen in practice. So I guess it's just important that I check before qualifying. :nervous:
but anyway, that's a very peculiar glitch.

^ I've had the driving line appear in an online room before even though the option was deactivated. I've also had the PS3 freeze/lock after quitting the game, as you described, and had to give it a hard shut down (this has actually happened several times). I don't recall GT5 ever causing my console to lock up or crash or beep repeatedly at me. It honestly seems that about every 3rd or 4th time I turn the game on or off something goes screwy with the console, and I've had this happen on 2 different consoles. Kinda frustrating but so far everything seems to still be ok.

I actually do not have my copy of GT6 yet, but when I do you can probably expect to see me on track. Hopefully that is not too long from now.

I had that too. You have to pull up the options menu while in the car and deactivate it there too when that happens.

I've had the worst trouble at Bathurst, sound mostly. Sound cutting in and out the first few days, then it was fine for a few days, then tonight it cut out completely for the first time. Had to restart the game because it didn't work in the menu's after that. :boggled:

Are oil changes allowed for the Plymouth Ghia race? Sorry I'm new to this, so I'm not too sure if it's allowed. If not I can buy a second one. 👍
Also my friend @Ericiscoollike wants in on the Plymouth Ghia race tomorrow if that's alright.

I would like to race Sunday. This car looks like a jet with the tip and tail cut off. Should be lots of fun.

I'll be in a friends-only lobby running some laps in my Ghia Roadster if anyone wants to join me.
Edit: Wow I'm slow...1:45.166 is my best so far. :(
@kcheeb I'm impressed that you achieved such a fast time.

Okay so 32 laps sounds good to keep the race just under 1hr.
And yeah I haven't gotten a clean lap yet on that track in any car. (Well not since gt4 at least lol)
But it's a cool track.
