They feel equal, but at Sarthe, the draft really comes into play. But with 4wd and more power (slightly) it will have a good acceleration characteristic, and it should be able to carry a higher top speed than other cars like the RWD's.

Well SS5 only has the front straight for drafting, but the handling characteristics of the track could possibly favor the AWD ...

I think it'll be evened out. Certainly, the FF cars will do well in qualifying, and do a little worse for strategy/weather. FR cars will be good overall, and AWD cars will be fast, given the right circumstances.

Well we will just have to wait and see what the race brings us ... seeing as though I miss some rounds already, anything in particular I should know?

Yeah, one stopping races can definitely be done. Especially in they're less than 25 laps. These cars don't use tires much at all. It's a beautiful feeling.

Is there a two tyre rule per round or is the choice optional? ... I know I should've asked this before, but ja, too much going on at one time ...

Generally, I imagine that tires AND fuel will be needed @ Nürburgring. That's a two hour race.

Then, with the other races; weather, rain etc., tire wear and such might be replaced by weather strategy. This weekend, I'm thinking it'll be 30 laps, maybe?

I would much prefer the change in tradition of having weather play a bigger role than tyre/fuel wear ... bringing back memories of Suzuka ...

Deal accepted. :) I promise you, that the strategy will definitely be a guessing game. I'll run the races off of time. (1 h, for example) just so that the fuel/tire window isn't obvious. Therefore, 35 laps or 1 h 15 minutes (which ever comes first.)

Let's say that we're on lap 29 @ 1h 13.45 mark. Everyone will know that the race ends at 1h15:00. Then, the leader finishes the lap during which the timer reads "1h15:00" and leader will cross the finish line and type "Finish." After that, the points are tallied etc., and the drivers who want to finish (for XP & money) may finish the race.

So this event is more of a time based event rather than a distance event?

The idea is to simulate the 24 hours of the Nürburgring in 2 hours. Therefore, I'm going to say that if it's exactly two hours @ 12 time progression, it'll be exactly 24 hours time-change in game, plus one lap.

I'll rename the races to reflect that, though.

C's an hour behind us; 15:30 on Fridays in HIS timezone; 16:30 in ours.

Alright, so that makes continental have to be at like 6:30? Or 7, but 6:30 so that gives us some breathing room before y'all have ALMS.

So, I'll start qualifying for VLN @ 16:00...

Hop on Skype dawg.

And I'm not sure what's going on with time... Gotta check some other series threads to get a better idea.

So quali is going to start 23:00 my time?

Yes, though I'll start that for the normal season. Quali will be 20 minutes today, starting at 16:20 my time, and ending at 16:40. The race will be 1h15:00, and the whole event will end at 18:00.

The BMW is a very stable car indeed ... ran it at 350hp last night and no tail happy movements at all ...

It goes up to 350?

Anyways, I'm posting up the rules summary:

  1. Read the GTP OLRs first
  2. Qualifying will be run on Racing SOFTS.
  3. Please ensure that you purchase Racing Softs and Racing Mediums, if you wish to be competitive in this series. Racing hards will not be sufficient in qualifying.
  4. Racing Mediums and Racing Hards will be the only tires allowed during the Race.
  5. Points are not yet being awarded.
  6. Cars which have adjustable high-beam lights MUST RUN THEIR HIGH BEAMS, and may not "flash" except when passing lapped traffic.
  7. In the event of a three (or more) car crash, a caution period will be held, for a short period of time, to allow the drivers involved to catch back up to the leaders. The leaders will slow down to 37 mp/h or 60 km/h. A restart will be announced in chat box, announcing where the restart will occur.
  8. During caution periods, passing is not allowed. Passing is also not allowed during restarts, until after the race resumes.
  9. You may not use the restart as a way to carry intertia and pass the car in front. Every car should, ideally, be going at the same speed, during the restart, and gain speed through drafting ONLY.

Anyone caught not following these rules, will be punished according to World Motorsports Assocation penalization protocols and following GTPlanet OLR guidelines.
