Wednesdays Historic BSCC 3 20:30-21:30 BST- Pimiki & SimbaLora CHAMPIONS!!!Finished

... I hope @Flaco13 likes the Glas BMW's - they are very rare in the UK...
Yes, but I like the Esprit better, and that Gilbern Invader looks cute.

I had quite a disadvantage to face in today's race, at the start of the race my HUD was gone although it was all fine during practice/qualifying and I had to change to "Chase Cam" to see where I was. I don't know why but without the HUD, the "Bumper Cam" is undrivable for me. So I had no rear view mirror, wich is safe to be considered a disadvantage aswell. (Bonnet Cam isn't one, the Mini has something more of a "Roof Cam").

As if that wasn't unlucky enough I then was victim of someone breaking way too late for the first turn and rolled out into the dirt, starting from the back.

I was hoping to leave with a good result last time I used the Mini, but it just should not have been I guess. I'm starting a new work in a few days and therefore announce my "possible" retirement for the Wednesday series. Whenever possible I'd like to join again as a Guest/Reserve Driver.

Cheers.

Great race, great to be back! I got a good start, although I couldn't keep up with the leaders. I'd like to apologize again for going autopilot a couple of times during the race, I think it may have disturbed some of you... The thing is that I got a text from my crush from the camp I've been at and I thought that I needed to talk to her more than I needed the points (especially since I missed so many races already).

Still, it was a lot of fun to drive the Cuda! I've never really spent time with that car before, even though I have three of them in the garage. I also tried out a new camera view, the interior camera on the narrowest field of view setting, and I really liked it! I've tried it before, but since I've been so used to having a wider field of view it felt kind of awkward. Now that I haven't played in a month it's easier to try new settings.

See you on Friday, I'll try to stay focused on the race then ;)

All drivers - don't forget that we change cars at the next round which is Round 7 from Shortun (custom track by master track maker IfAndOr)

Round 7 from Shortun (custom track by master track maker IfAndOr)
Master track maker! Quickly thrown together by IfAndOr. :P

I must try and join next week since it's my track. Being incapacitated I've completely lost track Sick, what car should I use? I've driven the Cuda once. Maybe the Renault now, that'll be tricky around Shortun. :)

The Renault is your next car @IfAndOr

All Drivers - if you look at the Championship Points table it is colour co-ordinated to show the correct car to use for rounds 7-12.

Sick, can I keep racing with my Mini? I have missed 3 rounds because I couldn't join.

No - all drivers change for rounds 7-12.

Round 7 from Shortun (Custom Track by Master Track Maker IfAndOr)

A quick reminder to everyone that we change cars for Round 7. If you are not sure what car you are driving next, either look at the Championship Points Table or the table below. Please ensure that you use the correct colours, wheels and race number in type A, font A (if one can be fitted). Page one of the thread gives full details of the cars with suggested tunes.

As we are using a custom track tonight, there will not be a qualification race - there will be an extended practise session from approximately 20:30 till 20:55 when the 25 minute feature race will be started. A copy of the track is available to download from my community page. If you do not know the track or have not had time to practise, the driving line is available.

This is a short track - approximately one minute duration - therefore there may be a lot of lapping by the fast guys. If you are lapping please take care, be patient and pass in a safe place. If you are being lapped keep an eye on the track map and keep to the left or the right of the track so that faster traffic can overtake safely.

Cars for Round 7 on.jpg

Hey @Sick Cylinder, I'm interested in racing here, and since this is one of the only clubs left that I haven't raced in, I'm intrigued to experience one night. :)

Welcome! I have sent you a Friend Request - you will need to accept that. I will then send you a club invitation - you will need to accept that in order to join. Please use a Plymouth Cuda 340 and fit a race number - not one of those listed above or numbers 3, 5, 7, 32 or 78. Tyres for the Plymouth are Sports Medium with a power limit of 370bhp. Full details of the cars are on page 1 of the thread. Please choose a country colour for your car and a retro outfit for your driver from the six listed - these help with the look of the photos and it is easy to change back into your normal outfit after the race if you prefer. Hopefully you enjoy the meeting and join us again - including for the Friday series BOSS 302.

Thanks for having me. Had to buy the car and throw a quick tune on it so was happy with my pace.

Good scrap with rich and then harsk. Couple of lag spikes in the fast esses threatened to dampen the racing but we all more or less got away with it.

Wish I had more time to commit to this, it's really great racing as always.

Thanks for the race this evening! Earlier this week I did a time trial and found that taking 200 kg away from a car doesn't really improve lap times a lot, so based on that I thought that it might actually be beneficial to add some ballast to the Renault, as a better balance might improve lap times more than the increased weight slows them down. So I added 73 of fastest kilograms I could find to the front of the car and got a nice 50/50 weight distribution. It worked pretty great. I still got a bit of oversteer when coming off the brakes (I'm using stiffer front anti-roll bar, to prevent trail braking oversteer), but as soon as I got back on the throttle the weight shift pushed the rear tyres to the tarmac and made them grip again.

It was very close between me and Simba, the gap was about a second (or less) for most of the race! Unfortunately he had a spin right before the final lap, otherwise we would have raced all the way to the finish line!

@Sick Cylinder I'm going away again tomorrow, to celebrate my grandparents' birthdays. I'll be away for a week, so I'll miss the race this Friday and the race next Wednesday. I'll be back for the race on the 19th.

Great race and phantastic battles yesterday! Shortun is a masterpiece of a thrilling short track, doesn't take ages to learn, has a nice flow with the exiciting left-right combination on the back straight and the treacherous downhill braking zone just after that and the tricky uphill final corner which is essential for a good lap time. Well done master of track making @IfAndOr!

That's a stupid corner, I don't know who put that there. :P My Renault's gearing never seemed quite right for it. I'd catch everyone up in the previous sections and then they'd pull away on the straight.

A good race though I thought, the 25 minutes seemed to fly by.

the exiciting left-right combination
I like that bit too. In fact I've included it in a couple of my other tracks. If anyone wants to give my "Another Racetrack" a go you'll find it a somewhat extended Shortun.

Round 7 BSCC Points.jpg

Even though I only scored an 11th place I really enjoyed that round. Apologies to Zeus (I think) for the tap at the first corner. My car was handling nicely - I've got rid of the understeer and have a good feeling with the car - hopefully I can find more speed in time for the next round.

Round 8 from Nordschleife - note we are back to the normal format from now on as these are not custom tracks i.e. short practise, then 10 minute qualification race then 25 minute feature race.

Question about future series: as GT Sport seems to mainly (only?) feature modern cars, will these series stay on GT6 until the online multiplayer is closed, or will you try to find some other platform for hosting these races?

The reason why I'm asking is because I'm not so sure that I actually want to get a next gen console, I might just quit gaming altogether after the PS3 era is eventually over. The only reason I'm still playing is because of these series, so if you decide to stay with GT6 for another year or half a year or so I'd be happy to take part in it :)

Have you tried any of the sims on next gen currently on the market?

I think they are amazing and there is so much more to come with Assetto Corsa, which feature some classic wheels, soon. GT Sport might aswell bring Historic (Race)cars in the future, since it should end up with a greater car count than expected. And even that "other" console has quite a lot to offer.

Just saying that I, personally, do not regret having bought a PS4. Playing only offline as I didn't do the PS+ thing yet, and just jumping in a Rally or Time Trial/Race vs. AI from time to time already makes it worth for me. If we were to change to PCars, for example, and at least for a while until we can use GT Sport, I would be very happy aswell. The possibilities to do some historic racing (or rallying) is actually great.

Can't wait to hear Sick's thoughts about it.

Well, speaking of the new generation consoles, I'm planning to buy the PS4 along GTSPORT Game.

By the way, regarding about the next round, I don't know if I'll be able to make it, as I'll be in my cousin's birthday party.

PROJECT CARS HAS CLASSIC FORMULA 1 CARS

But you need to pay to become able to play online on PS4. :banghead:

Future Plans - Short Term: Wednesdays = Toyota 2000GT (Tuned), Fridays Dave MacDonald Tribute (Tuning Prohibited). Note these series will take us up to the end of 2016.

Future Plans - Longer Term: I haven't bought a PS4 yet. I was tempted last Black Friday / Cyber Monday, but I rightly predicted that Gran Turismo Sport was about a year away so decided to wait until Christmas 2016 to get a PS4. However what I didn't expect was that GTS would be effectively half a game, with the half that I like missing. So far nothing about it appeals to me except the livery editor, but there is little point in one of those if there aren't any cars that you like.

I will be getting a PS4 towards the end of this year (I am hoping that the release of the PS4.5 Neo will cause the standard console to drop in price), but I will probably not be getting Gran Turismo Sport - at least not until the car list has been expanded to include classic road and historic race cars.

I am lucky that my wheel is compatible with the PS4 despite being an old wheel (when upgrading from a DFGT 4 or 5 years ago I ordered a G27, but luckily cancelled in favour of a T500 on a special deal). Given that GTS looks underwhelming, I can't switch to X Box One because I would need a new wheel and I can't switch to PC for cost reasons and because I am not computer literate enough - so upgrade to PS4 it eventually is!

I am undecided on which game to go for between the PS4 versions of Project Cars (Game of the Year Edition includes all the paid DLC) and Asetto Corsa. I have been planning to do a car list comparison between Project Cars (PC) and Asetto Corsa (AC). My GTPlanet friend Mook lives nearby and I have tried PC on his X Box - very impressed with the different liveries for the Escort RS1600 which obviously could be used in a classic series and also be used as a substitute for the earlier Escort Twin cam raced by Frank Gardner. Unfortunately I was unable to try PC with a wheel because he bought a Logitech G920 which was supposed to be compatible with X Box One, but it isn't - no FFB - so he took that back to the shop - no wonder PC World were clearing a bulk load of them at a very low price!

The feedback I have had so far is that it is difficult to find a friends room with Project Cars and options for Hosts are poor. I am hoping that Asetto Corsa gets the user interface right and the online tools / Host options. This is the sort of thing that though we complain about GT is normally done relatively well.

The current rumour / news about GTS is that a large number of cars will be released as DLC (about 400 has been mentioned). Given PD's sloth that must be a port of cleaned up PS3 premium assets, in which case the DLC must be free - surely no one is going to pay for old cars that they used in GT5 and 6? This suggests to me that the game is being rushed out - why couldn't those cars be included at launch. Everything I hear about GTS tells me to wait, don't pre-order, be very cautious because it sounds like a rushed half a game. I will be waiting to hear detailed verdicts from my friends on GT Planet before I consider getting a copy.

I have only planned race series until the end of 2016 due to uncertainty about GTS, PC, AC etc. If necessary we will keep going on PS3 for the first 3 or 6 months of 2017 until the situation regarding which game to upgrade to becomes clear.

Please add your comments, thoughts etc. PS big thanks to @Flaco13 for posting clips from Project Cars and Dirt Rally.

Hopefully we can all upgrade and eventually transfer to the same game whether that be GTS, PC or AC - I am flexible on which one - it depends which will give the best gaming experience, bearing in mind ease of hosting, quality of car list and size of community of active players etc.
