What did you do in GT7 today?

After spending hours upon hours grinding away near the end of it's lifespan to get level 50 and platinum GT Sport I managed to do a few random grind races, but otherwise achieve Platinum through fairly normal game play last night. Buying the Jaguar to get the 3 legendary cars trophy and tick the last box. Now for just fun online silly driving.

On the GTP account, I did a formulatic 1-stop mostly-dry Sarthe race with the long-forgotten tuned Ford Focus RS. The 4-star Wheel of Despair was the usual formulatic lowest-possible 10,000 Cr.

On the Plus account, I did a rather wet race at Sarthe with the Porsche Cayman Clubsport, wet enough that the traffic behind me was a bit jumbled up. It's been a while since I had a 3-star workout roulette, but instead of getting the usual pittance of credits, I got a 2nd Lexus RC F. I used the race proceeds to get a 2015 Mazda RX-VISION.

I bought a Chaparral 2X and detuned it to 800 PP, which involved cutting the power to minimum, adding nearly 200 kg of ballast and using racing wet tyres in the front and racing hard tyres in the back. I entered the WTC 800 event at La Sarthe and on my first attempt failed miserably due to running out of electricity on the second lap. For the remainder of the race I pitted on every lap and surprisingly still managed to finish in 3rd.

So on my second attempt I took advantage of the sleek aerodynamics of the car by accelerating up to speed and then coasting for long periods of time to save energy. What surprised me was the awesome sound of silence when you’re coasting at 330 km/h, cutting through the air like it’s nothing. Quite a driving experience!

With this strategy I managed a two-stop strategy and won the race easily. It will be interesting to see how it does in the other WTC 800 races.

Did a few half hour one-make enduros in my continuing endeavor to rid my garage of zero-mileage cars, and to keep it interesting I picked shorter tracks with 6x tire wear and fuel burn. You really have to think about what your pit window is going to be in these scenarios, since everyone has identical cars you don't get much of a chance to pull away from the crowd, and coming in too early or too late will put you at a notable disadvantage.

I think I've gained a newfound appreciation for Broad Bean Raceway too, not only is it more complex then it first lets on, it feels a lot different when you have to actually make use of the pitlane. Coming off a high banked left turn into a nearly flat right hander and then trying to get to the left side of that turn's exit to pit is actually kind of a difficult thing to do without scrubbing off a lot of speed or upsetting the car, especially since the track will wear down your right side tires something fierce after 20+ laps.

Doing a grind at Sardegna and made a major error, decided to keep going to see how close I could get to the front. Last lap still 14 secs behind and in third place, got to the final corner and noticed one AI crawling towards the finish line with the other only just ahead, they had both run out of fuel. Didn’t quite get the win but just shows you should never give up

I did a few grind races, including another Spa 24h race - lucky it's a circuit and event I really enjoy.

That said, there's perhaps no better example of the AI's inability to comprehend what blue flags are for. This coupled with the fact that there are several sections of the track where the AI is just too slow - Malmedy and Eau Rouge/Raidillon being major cases in point - can make for some frustrating moments.

But otherwise it is still an enjoyable event, and fortunately even major collisions (usually with a back marker that has either spun out or is ignoring blue flags) still gets you the CRB.

Had some time and ran some WTC700's with the A220, Sport Megane Trophy, BMW VGT. Had one dry race with the BMW.

That BMW is like a slot car. Outstanding brakes and cornering ability. Not the fastest, but you can pass anyone in any turn. Also great in the rain.

I also ran one WTC800 with the Mazda LM55 Gr.1. Another car that seems to fly under the radar.

Took the Jag XJ13 out for a race in the PP700 race at red Bull Ring. Had to set FM to 5 to get 5 laps out of it, and changed to IM tyres, which was a mistake because it didn't rain, even though there were clouds on the radar and it was really overcast. Managed 8th, not so good, but a really enjoyable race!

it has been brought to my attention that I can modify how resistant the triggers are in the configuration menu of the console itself. Color me dumb :D
I'd be interested what your settings are which you think best reflect the PS4 feel.

I'm going to be making the jump at some point and generally curious to what degree you have to re-learn to drive

Ran an FK9 Civic Type R TCR build in the Le Mans WTC700 today with a BTCC livery. I quite enjoyed it, apart from the rapid front tire wear. Otherwise, it is pretty good.

I also ran an 800PP R92CP in the Sardegna WTC800, as well as an 800PP 787B in the Monza WTC800. The 787B sounds too good to not use in these races.

However, on a more negative note, the ridiculously unintelligent AI really pissed me off today. I pretty much felt like Sebastian Vettel back in 2016 today. The AI ignores the blue flags as if they are black licorice. Get off my racing line!

I decided not to respond to other threads in a smart @ss way after reading people complain about a game that I'm sure they already got more play time out of most others. It's a $60 game. I spent more filling my real gas tank. Don't like it? Move on. We don't need another complaint thread or when's the next GT update/game coming. My 2¢.

played Lemans just to have more of a challenge instead of the tomahawk in Tokyo... I get to the end of lap 2 and it is pouring... I pull in the PIT extra fast and crash and not only that I must have push the button on the controller and skipped picking change to wet tires... my strategy is already ruined so I restarted the race... Im not even a minute into the second race and my connection drops so I have to restart the race a third time smh... finally I won the third time but had to do it in 7 laps... got my roulette ticket was a 6 star engine swap

On the Plus account, I took the Mercedes-AMG GT3 to Sardegna for a win...despite smashing the guardrail rather hard trying to pass Beauvois. The 4-star Wheel of Despair gave the low-showing 30,000 Cr. I marveled at the continued skipping of the 911 GT1 and the Escudo in Hagerty's (I have the Escudo on both accounts and the 911 on the GTP account), while I picked up the Mazda LM55 VGT.

On the GTP account, I didn't mess around - I used the detuned 962 C at Sardegna. The 3-star Wheel of Despair gave the usual lowest-possible 5,000 Cr. It was, however, enough to get the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta.

That LM55 is one of my favorite cars. Just terrific at Sardegna.

Ran one WTC700 with the P330. Love the car, not the best in the rain, though. Especially on half-worn RH.:) turned into a roller skate.

It started raining on lap 2, stopped for 1/2 lap on lap 4, then rained for the rest of the race. I stopped for wets twice.

I'm up to 79M credits now.

The wheel supplied a Lexus RC F 2014. I would rather have the credits than another car that I'll never use and can't sell.

Sure! So I logged into the console today and set the trigger resistance to Weak. The default is Strong.
You have 4 options:
Strong
Medium
Weak
None

None would be functional equivalent to PS4, Weak is where I'm having the most control and enjoyment. I like that there's resistance to the trigger, it feels like a pedal, which is something we all (of driving age anyways) have an intrinsic understanding of modulating, which makes braking and accelerating easier to control and therefore faster.

I was finding at Strong that I would lock the brakes and not notice because of how much resistance there was. At Weak it's pretty straightforward. Maybe Medium would also be enjoyable but I haven't tried it and now I'm kinda settling into Weak anyways.

My suggestion would be to fire up some qualifications and just lap for a while. Don't try to set a fast time, just get used to the controls again.
Enjoy!

I entered the Chaparral 2X in the 800 pp Spa 1 hour endurance. Big mistake. Because I need to run W tyres in the front and H in the rear, the front tyres wear exceptionally fast and I can’t change to new ones in the pit. What’s worse is that when the rain comes, the grip is so unbalanced that the only way to get stability is to reverse around the circuit. So while my cheesy 800 pp tune worked well at Le Mans, I ended up dead last at Spa, more than ten minutes behind the leader.

Then I noticed there’s a VGT series limited to 850 pp and no tyre limits. I switched to comfort soft tyres, which allowed me to remove most of the ballast and then I found out that comfort tyres is probably how the 2X is supposed to be driven in the first place. It slides well through the corners and the laser propulsion means you don’t actually need much traction to go around the bends, just point the car wherever you want to go and fire the lasers, it’s kind of like a thrust-vectoring fighter jet or a hovercraft on steroids. Kyoto and Interlagos were especially enjoyable. Deep Forest reverse was a new layout for me so it was a bit more chaotic.

I also unlocked the hypercar event and noticed its lack of a pp limit. It’s limited to road cars though, so I bought the road car version of the Tomahawk just to see if the game would let me use it. The game allowed it, and the car brought me the easiest win so far in this game.

Done a couple of races at le mans in me Aventador, bought nissan vgt ugly thing, said I wasn't going too buy any of them but might as well as nowt else too spend me cash on lol, have strayed away since downloading Stray, enjoying being a cat :)

I had a blast at Spa yesterday, finally nailing some properly fast laps once clear of the AI, and able to hit Eau Rouge/Raidillon at full tilt.

The day before last I managed to lose it on my out-lap after changing back to slicks after a brief but heavy rain shower...

Luckily the cars that sped past me were unlapping themselves...

Beat arguably the hardest race in GT7, the Tsukuba Clubman Cup+, with a Honda S660 of all things.

Update from the last few days rather than just today....
Created a historic custom race. I struggled to keep up with the Ferrari 330's in my Jaguar XJ13 and so did my team mate Stirling Moss :)

I've also decided to attempt to gold all the S licences for my final trophy. I've decided to start with S-10 as it seems a waste to do S-1 through S-9 if I can't complete S-10.

Really struggling with the Porsche on S-10 so I'm saving up to buy one for practice.
So grinded Sardegna in my Escudo and had a go at La Sarthe in my Red Bull Junior. It stayed dry and I won!

Also did the sport mode time trial to bronze level so that should be another 250k in the bank next week.

Just beat wtc 600 but cheated on the last race lol. Still hate how the leader get so much a head start every race. Now looking to see what German car I’m gonna use or buy for some of these 700 pp limit races I got coming up.

Manage to get in gold range of Nissan tt (phew that was hard for me). Bought some old legendary Porsche for 0.6m

On the Plus account, after buying IM and wet tires for the Renault Megane Trophy, I blitzed a somewhat-wet Sarthe as I was the only one to come down for intermediate tires on lap 2, and the track got just wet enough for them during lap 3. The 4-star Wheel of Despair did once again disappoint, with the lowest-possible 10,000 Cr., but it was enough to get the McLaren VGT.

On the GTP account, I dragged the Silvia Touring Car out of retirement for a rather wet, if only briefly, Sarthe stomping. It was wet enough that some of the backmarkers took intermediates on lap 2, which is when I took full-wet tires. Naturally, it did a lot more to begin to refill the credit tank than the low-showing 10,000 Cr. 3-star Wheel of Despair did.
