From this day forward, I'm going to assume everything Kaz says is a complete lie.

no need to worry, i am sure tomorrow we will get news, after embargo lifts

What embargo?

So what happened? PD/Kaz/GT6 didn't show up at all? I fell asleep so I don't know.

What happened during those 20 minutes?

It's amazing, did I not advise you all to curb expectations?

To be fair, I doubt anyone thought they had to curb their expectations all the way to zero. One short trailer would have been about the minimum, I would have thought. But clearly I would have been wrong. :D

Haha...kind of odd isn't it, not even a trailer or anything and all the while in Tokyo, home base if you will. And here I really thought they were on fire with the marketing of the game this time. I expected something new this time even if it was small, then the Bathurst announcement coming up at the 1000. Bizarre...

I thought revealing literally nothing after Kaz and PD used the TGS excuse to avoid answering GT6 questions over the past few weeks was pathetic to be honest.

I had low expectations especially after reading messages posted by you and Slip. Just not rock bottom. I don't think expecting something, however minimal, was unreasonable or worthy of astonishment.

Quite.

Perhaps not. As I understand it now, a lot of decisions are quite literally made at the very last minute possible. Maybe there was a snippet of info and they simply decided to hold off for reasons unknown to me.

I do keep reading something about an embargo being lifted for tomorrow though, what's that about?

I think that nothing was released at TGS is due to the Japanese gaming market rather than PD not having anything to show.

(this is just my speculation based on discussions in multiple car sites and gaming forums)

Recently, Japanese gamers have been favoring, mobile/handheld/casual games over consoles or more "hardcore" games, in addition the interest in cars in japan has been on the decline. This makes GT series less appealing to the Japanese markets.

Another possible reason is Kaz has been attempting to push the GT series as a product that is invovled with the automotive and Motorsports industry(shown by attending events that are only about cars e.g JFF and Goodwood).

The last reason is that the big Japanese developers have been trying to appeal to the western markets more recently. E.g Capcoms recent games have a more western feel to them (Dragons dogma and deepdown) because they know that their high budget games are fighting a losing battle at home against the handheld/mobile market and are betting off appealing to the west.

I don't see how that speculation could be correct simply because PD announced that they would reveal GT6 features at TGS several weeks ago. If the decision to show up and not reveal anything at TGS was part of a specific marketing strategy (which I doubt) it would've been made before GT6 was announced. Therefore making any statements by PD about TGS feature announcements blatant lies.

Yikes. Either Kaz couldn't make it there in time or they decided to just cop out at the very last minute, which is quite worrying. I mean, we were promised something at TGS, like details on the livery editor, core game UI/features, etc. If they decided to just simply drip-feed the info over the next 2 months and completely ignore the last major game show before release, then that's on them. There is barely any hype on the title, and PD's evident lack of proper communication along with Sony's request for them to remain tight-lipped isn't really helping either.

I'll try to remain positive here, but if no new trailer or at least a straw of info comes out tomorrow, fans have the right to be disappointed.

They're far too busy working on the "large day one patch" to be attending game shows. ;)

We're being toyed with. :dopey:

What's comforting me is that we got a lot of news on GT5 throughout October 2010. TGS isn't the end of the line by any means. There's the Bathurst 1000 over the 10-13th of October, for a start...

first time in my life i will wait for reviews before i buy a GT title :(

At this rate we're going to need reviews just to know how the game is structured.

There is but events like that tend to be specialised, I can't see them for example talking about A-Spec structure at a Bathurst event. It will just be about the track and if applicable the cars.

I think there's a lot of overreaction here, we were adviced that today was not the day to get the new info and I figured out when Kaz hinted to wait to get that australian locations and a lot of articles about journalist visiting PD in Tokio before TGS started just appeared in the web

I really can't get into it - partly because I'm not sure I'm supposed to, and partly because I doubt I know all that much even after JFF - but people making TGS out to be the final showing of any GT6 news before the game's on shelves should question that assumption.

As for car customization and the specific TGS mention; I know no more about that than you do. Though TGS isn't over...

I was thinking they would show more at TGS because its the last gaming conference to my knowledge before GT6 comes out.I've never watched a TGS conference so I don't know how these things works,or what happened at tgs 2010.I just know we got alot of news from TGS in 2010.Was Kaz even there? did he make it back from the film festival in time?
The moment I read that nothing was announced at tgs, a Forza 5 commercial came on.LOL is this a sign?

You may know more about an embargo than we do, seeing that you were at the film festival.

Slip makes it sound like there was one here, even if he's unsure what is under embargo and what isn't:

There are some surprises in the works. I won't say anything, since I'm not sure what is allowed and what isn't, but you'll be excited!

It's also odd that a bunch of journalists were invited to PD's offices yet very little info has come from it. Surely something was presented right?

Anyways, I'm not angry about the lack of info. Like someone mentioned I view it as a change of plans rather than Kazunori outright lying to us. It happens. It is the first time "delay" has slipped into my mind for GT6, however.
