Re watched The Terminator last night. It seems really dated now, but its still utterly excellent. Going to try watching 2 & 3 again soon.

Pirates: dead mans chest, see my review. Sparrow is back & funny as hell!!!

I always stop to watch T2 when it's on TV, but the first one I stopped watching half way through and I'm not planning on watching it again. T3 was just okay.

Just finished Arlington Road. It started out slow, but it really picked up for the second half with a nice twist in the end.

Famine
"Kerrrr-azy Ivan!"

I do a very passable impersonation of the US Secretary of Defence from Red October.

"Mr. Ambassador... you mean to tell me you've lost another submarine?"

 Jonsey is brilliant.

and get a mic Famine, I wanna hear a Yorkshireman do that impression. 👍

Great Movie! one of the best endings ever!

[edit] Also, I saw Munich a while back. Also a really good movie.

I'm still sore at the ending in "Arlington Road". :grumpy:

I finished Ultraviolet last night. One of the worst movie I have ever seen. It's kind of a mix of Matrix, Equilibrium, Aeon Flux and Underworld, except it's incredibly boring.

Saw The Devil Wears Prada today with a few friends. It was better than i had expected, although I didn't really like the ending too much.

We were originally going to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean today, but when we got to the theater, the movie was sold out for the next 8 showings (on 4 screens), so instead, we're going to see it tomorrow night.

Going to watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire tonight, hopefully! Should be good like the others I have seen so far!

sprite: thanks for the Krull link, that was ace to see!

Taxi Driver in HD. The blood seems more real and lifelike. Me like.

"You talking to me? You talking to me? You talking to me?"

Just watched Last of the Mohicans, recently purchased from Best Buy for $5. Good flick, I always like that one for a number of reasons. First of all, they have indians use guns, rather than demonizing guns. Also, they refuse to glorify indians or demonize the white man, which I also found refreshing. Thirdly, there's a lot of unspoken feeling in the movie... which makes it feel more real. I like when the dialogue can rely on actors to pull off internal emotion rather than saying every little thing they're feeling.

Here's an example of what not to do:

"Anaquin, you're breaking my heart."

Nobody talks like that. Why not just have her act the emotion?

Also, the movie has characeters that feel real. You get the motivation behind all of them, even the most evil. I like movies that force me to indentify with the bad guys as well as good.

Anyway LOTM is a good movie with a great score. It hits the ground running and doesn't look back until it's over. There is no rest in this movie. Like the movie score, it's at constant climax the entire time. Great east coast american scenery and lots of good acting. Little dialogue and excellent action. The final battle in the movie is one of the best I have ever seen.

Batman Begins - just got it on DVD. I thought it was going like the last couple of goofy Batman films, I was dead wrong.

bought some good old movies this weekend, Serpico - What a fantastic flick! I can't believe its taken me this long to see it and own it.
Cobra with Sylvester Stallone, ( very cheesy meh ) but kick'n lead sled he drives in it. And hilariously lame plt. A great saturday afternoon watch!

Another Korean movie for me, Memories of Murder. It is based on the true story of the first serial killer in Korea. It's different compared to all the Hollywood movies.

"The Last of the Mohicans" is a great film. 👍 I almost never got to see this classic. My friend who needed money asked me to buy this DVD from him, so I bought it. What a great purchase it was...... But I think I ended up selling it as well. I trim my DVD collection, every now and then(I might sell some here soon ;) ).

I have Serpico and Cobra as well. Both pretty good movies. Cobra definitely is one of those guilty-pleasure type flick. :D Now if I can only get my hands on "Batman Bigins"......

I just finished watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Saw it in theaters when it came out, been a few months since then. Great movie overall, the picture quality is stunning on the DVD as is the surround.

Cobra is horrible, but he drives an awesome car. The car chase scene in that movie is damn good too. But, that's about it. Oh, I loved his beach house. That was sweet. (I was a surfer back then.)

I remember when I first saw this movie. It was at the drive-in movie theaters; with a friend and his mom. Top Gun was playing in the screen next to us on the right. Half way through Cobra, we were mostly watching Top Gun for some flying action. We were so bored, we started to bounce the station wagon up and down while my friends mom was laughing her ass off, screaming at us to knock it off. She kicked us out and we then headed for the snack bar and tried to pick up some chicks. I had no idea where the hell we were going to take them, since my friends mom was in the car, but we didn't think it that far ahead. Didn't matter, anyway. The only chick there was working the snack bar and she was about a thousand years old.

Damn good memories of that night. Every time I see Cobra on TV I smile and laugh. I tried watching it a while back, and couldn't even make it to the car chase scene.

"Batman Bigins?" Hahahahah, that sounds so awesome!

Yeah, I've got to get Batman Begins for the boys. I've seen it several times now on HBO-HD, and it was a great surprise. Damn good movie. 👍

Thanks for pointing that out, Solid. :grumpy: I think this is the second time you had to point out my misspelling in a last week or so.

I ended up buying a used copy of "Batman Begins". Also got "Land of the Dead" and "Day of the Dead 2: Contagium" as part of 3 for $25. First two were pretty good, the third sucked. :grumpy: <one more for good measure.

I saw 'Walk The Line' on DVD the other night... really good film, and amazing performances from Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix... (although I spent most of the early part of the movie considering the fact that GTP member DQuan looks very like Phoenix :odd: 💡 )

Not really being a fan of Johnny Cash's music, (i.e. I haven't ever listened to much of his music before), perhaps some of the finer points of the music were lost on me..., but the performances were very convincing, even based on the very little I have heard of the real Cash... not sure if I'd rush out and buy the DVD, but I'd certainly watch it again if it were to come on the TV any time soon...

I liked "Ray" better, but "Walk the Line" was pretty good. Earlier in his career, I didn't think Joaquin had that Star quality. Boy, was I wrong. Now, he's one of my favorite leading man.

I never liked Johnny Cash's music, until I saw the remake of "Dawn of the Dead". My favorite zombie flick, and Cash's song called "When The Man Comes Around" got me into his music. If you get a chance to, I suggest you check that one out. :)

Recently seen Superman Returns. Not a bad film, but not brilliant either I thought. Could do with more action and less delay in the story if you get my meaning.

I saw Superman Returns at the weekend as well... I really enjoyed it too, but similarly, I wasn't blown away by it... but I guess that is mostly down to the fact that I'm not 10 years old...

Not to be a party-pooper or anything, but even as a 10 year old kid, I would have thought the Kent/Superman thing was a tad obvious... you'd have to be a total moron to not work out they are the same person when both of them suddenly turn up again after a 5 year absence... I also love the way that his 'disguise' is basically just his glasses... :P

Still, Kevin Spacey is perfect as Lex Luthor... 👍

Thanks for the tip(s)... I really want to see 'Ray' too...

I agree 100% on both points, I thought walk the line was a very good film but I liked Ray better, probably just because it had a bit more pace to it, but Walk the line was very good too imo. And also I cringed when I heared that Joaqin was going to be in Gladiator, but since then I've raised my opinion of him no end.

Watched "The Hill Have Eye Remake"... Well sort off watched it. I watched about 40mins and then left the room, what a dull film, too slow, not even scary either.👎👎👎

I watched the original Hills Have Eyes a few days ago, i thought it was terrible. Bar one, all the characters where annoying as hell, the only redeeming features was the dogs, they were good. I suppose its like when i re-watch most old horror films now. Just not as good.
Except for Halloween, thats still excellent.

And i watched a old & bad Jackie Chane/Sammo Hung film, My Lucky Stars. It was suppost to be a comedy, but i think it was mostly lost in translation, it was pretty bad. However the end action sequence was very good.
